Time to embark on the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1!
Badd Medicine here and its Harry Potter reaction time! Without the guidance and protection of their professors, Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson) begin a mission to destroy the Horcruxes, the sources of Voldemort's immortality. Though they must rely on one another more than ever, dark forces threaten to tear them apart. Voldemort's Death Eaters have seized control of the Ministry of Magic and Hogwarts, and they are searching for Harry -- even as he and his friends prepare for the ultimate showdown.
We can't believe we lost Dobby!!!! Wow. I know, we lost more in this, but Dobby was the one that hurt. That was a gut punch. This whole movie was a whirlwind. What a movie series this has been so far with one last one to go.

Love that you guys recognized Harry and Hermione dancing as what it was, a friend cheering up a friend. I feel almost every reaction channel sees it as something romantic, and it makes me a bit sad since I feel like it is such a sweet, platonic moment, that you often don't get in movies (as the main character and the girl is often paired up). Looking forward to the last one!

In the book, she casts a memory charm, and gives them memories of a life where she doesn't exist. (As well as sending them to Australia) to protect them. jbreezy101 is right, they had her use obliviate in the movie simply because at this point the audience knew what it was, and that it in some form pertained to memories. But in the book, of course this would have been beyond stupid, as obliviate is irreversible. Hermione, after the wizarding war, reverses her charm and gives her parents memories back.

One other thing I want to mention is Dobby’s burial. Harry doesn’t use magic to bury Dobby…he honors him by actually digging his grave and gently laying him to rest…a truly free elf. It has been a pleasure watching you three gentlemen come to love and appreciate the Wizarding World that so many of us have loved and appreciated for so long. Even now I still get occasional snide comments about enjoying “children’s stories and movies”…as you all have realized, there’s much more depth to these stories and movies than the average person realizes…

Yup. As others have said already, they filmed it and you can watch the deleted scene. It really was a huge part of the books because for the first time in his life, Harry actually had one of the Dursley's care about him. Dudley was grateful that Harry saved his life in the 5th book and he was genuinely concerned about why Harry wasn't leaving with them. He was worried about Harry's safety, which stunned Harry.

One thing that’s important to remember is that the horcruxes actually have a negative effect on the people that are near them…and some people are more affected than others…Ron was deeply affected and is one of the main reasons for the argument that led to his leaving Harry & Hermione for a while. The locket’s negative impact on the trio reminds me of the One Ring and its negative effects on the Fellowship of the Ring. Boromir was the one who was the most negatively affected in that group…
@NanciBK
@NanciBK Жыл бұрын
I always felt JK Rowling modeled horcruxes on the one ring. It absolutely functions the same as a horcrux, a powerful and evil artifact, most likely with death put into it’s making, which holds part of the soul of the maker/sorcerer and gives them a way to return from death if their body is destroyed.

@@LS_Revenant Not all horcruxes had a direct negative effect on the owner. There is no mention of any such effect caused by the Diadem of Rowena Ravenclaw or by Cup of Helga Hufflepuff. The diary had been talking to Ginny. Hence Ginny wasn't affected by merely possessing the diary. There is no evidence that all the Horcruxes caused negativity on the people around it. Keep in mind that Voldemort did curse the ring horcrux. So sometimes the negative effects arent the horcruxes themselves, but another spell or curse attached to them.
@Lightdevildarkangel
@Lightdevildarkangel Жыл бұрын
@@LS_Revenant Specifically they enhance negative thoughts/emotions/feelings. They are just like a lot of other magical items in this world. You cannot create something from nothing- there has to be SOME amount for the negativity to pull from. Like everyone loves to say how the Dursley's were so bad to Harry because he was a horcrux. Well, not totally. Harry being a Horcrux most likely enhanced their levels of snobbishness and superiority and resentment that they already held. Ron was already feeling strung out and worried, while feeling inferior to his friends (and what he perceived as a budding relationship). Other than the ring and diary, the other items weren't really held long by the "good guys" for noticeable negative effects (the cup and diadem being held by/in inanimate objects and the snake being with Voldemort or in a cage). The ring was only really worn by Voldemort as a young adult/adult or held by Dumbledore (who would've probably surmised the issue of wearing it, or thought he was strong enough to combat it). The book was the only other issue as it played on Ginny's insecurities and fears then literally fed off of her and those negative thoughts

When Harry confronts him about the life debt Pettigrew owes him, Pettigrew hesitates just for a moment and is then choked to death by the silver hand Voldemort gave him in Goblet of Fire. One of my favorite missing-from-the-movies-bits is that Voldemort himself made Harry the Chosen One. When Harry was a baby, Prof. Trelawney gave a prophesy to Dumbledore describing a child that would be capable of defeating Voldemort. Snape overheard part (but not all) of it and passed it on. Voldemort thought that Harry fit all of the descriptions so he went after him and the Potters. However, there was another kid that could have also fit: Neville Longbottom. But because Voldemort went after Harry and failed to kill him, he created the connection between them, causing the prophesy to be self-fulfilled. The part of the prophesy that Snape failed to hear/pass on? Voldemort would choose his opponent himself. It's crazy to think that this whole story could have been Neville's in another world. (Also, this implies that Snape is indirectly responsible for the death of Harry's parents)

Their reasonings where that it looked silly when they tried to film the chocking scene. But I feel like they went with a much worse choice. A death is a death, no matter how ridiculous it looks. And they always could have done an artistic choice change, where he dies from for example silver tendrils and tentacles that grew out of the hand or something. Which would still allow for the retribution, but also for Harry and Ron to try save him. This silly scene we got kinda took a lot from the serious tone of the whole bigger storyline.

When Harry says "Kingsley I thought you were looking after the prime minister", he's referencing a great chapter at the start of book six in which Fudge keeps popping into the office of the *muggle* prime minister to update him on the situation in the wizarding world. We get a whole chapter from the perspective of this poor guy having to learn about death eaters, dragons, giants, dementors, mass breakouts from Azkaban, and what is essentially wizard Hitler returning from the dead and starting a war. He finally snaps when the new minister (Rufus) visits to talk about his security, and complains that he *doesn't* want some wizard replacing his awesome secretary... who turns out to be Kingsley.

Overtime you start to see the outline of the person under it until you'll basically just have bedsheet over your head. In regards to The Oak’s question about why Lucius Malloy is so hypersensitive around He-Who’s-Name-We-Shall-Not-Speak, you guys have to keep in mind that Lucius has pretty much failed Voldemort at every turn. In Chamber of Secrets, he left a Horcrux (Tom Riddle’s diary) in possession of Ginny Weasley, which ultimately led to Harry destroying it. In Goblet of Fire, we learned Lucius didn’t bother searching for Voldemort after his fall all those years ago. In Order of the Phoenix, he was tasked with retrieving the prophecy from the Department of Mysteries. And AGAIN he was somehow bested by none other than Harry Potter. And on top of all of this, he spent some time in Azkaban (surrounded by the joy-killing Dementors), which definitely wouldn’t do anything to help this man’s confidence. Truly, the Malfoy family is in DEEP crap after the mess up in this movie too.

Regulus Black was a death eater and he joined very young. All sirius or his family knew happened was he was a death eater, it is likely he didn’t want to be one anymore and so he was killed. They never found out how or by who. He was 18 years old In this book we find out that regulus discovered Voldemort’s secret about the horcruxes and he was having his doubts about being a death eater and decided to try and stop him. He found out where the cave was because voldemort used Kreacher to drink the potion to see if it would work and regulus called Kreacher back and found out that way. He made a duplicate of the locket and went to the cave with kreacher. Regulus didn’t make kreacher drink the potion this time around, he drank it himself and if you remember those creatures that dragged Harry down in movie 6, that’s what happened to Regulus and that’s where and how he died. (Those creatures are inferi btw and they’re reanimated corpses done by voldemort). Before he died he ordered kreacher to go home and destroy the locket and to never tell anyone including his family what happened to him.

Also since Dumbledore telling Harry that Sirius left him everything he owned in HBP no one realizes that Harry not only owns Grimmauld Place but Kreacher as well. They also cut the scene where Ron told Harry & Hermione that there was a curse placed on Voldemort's name. Only Dumbledore and the Order ever used his name so if someone said his name Death Eaters could apparate to the exact location to catch them. They never mention this in the movies (which makes me sooooo upset), but Regulus Black (RAB) was actually one of Voldemort's top guys, but Kreacher was actually sent to retrieve the locket. Kreacher was one of Regulus' only friends so he wanted to protect him, which is why Reg drank the potion instead of Kreacher, resulting in him getting dragged down by Inferi (the creepy water guys we saw in Half Blood Prince) and drowning. After Sirius' death, it's assumed he named Harry as his heir meaning everything Sirius owns (his side of the Black fortune) goes to Harry. ALSO. NOT SHOWN AT ALL. But Remus Lupin and Tonks get married and have a baby named Teddy (who we see very, very briefly in the flashforward at the end of Deathly Hallows pt2). Harry is named as his godfather, but it's assumed that Draco actually helped raise him since he would be Teddy's cousin (Tonks' mother is Andromeda, Narcissa's (Draco's mom) sister). In the flash forward we see him closest to Draco and his wife so its assumed)

The actress who plays Hermione’s mother is Michelle Fairley, whom you’ll likely recognize as Catelyn Stark on Game of Thrones. Also the film unfortunately deleted a filmed extended scene of Harry’s goodbye with the Dursleys, which included a very poignant moment of Dudley telling Harry that he doesn’t think he’s a waste of space and we see that Dudley has been growing and changing, in fact in the books, Harry keeps finding food left outside his door and it’s revealed that Dudley left them for Harry. Also we get a moment of genuine emotion from Petunia too, in regards to her sister, and the films don’t really go into this but the books noted that as a child Petunia wanted to go to Hogwarts and even wrote a letter to Dumbledore asking to be allowed to attend and that rejection (however kindly worded) hurt her. It doesn’t excuse her actions towards Harry but it really does allow you to understand why she has so much jealousy and anger, because imagine being a kid and your sister gets powers and goes off to a fun magic school to learn about magic and you’re left behind, left out, effectively not special enough, that is bound to have an effect on a child’s self esteem. The films also kinda just introduced Fleur, one of the Beauxbaton champions from Goblet of Fire, being with the older Weasley brother. I wish they had explained it better. There’s alot of details that the films have just had to leave out unfortunately.

Hedwig's death is super sad. I remember there being an audible "Oh" from the audience followed by a woman shouting "Are you F***ing kidding me!?" My mom busted out laughing at her. Fun fact for you: Helena Carter(Bellatrix) was worried for Emma(Hermonie) over the torture scene and hugged her following it. She was worried she had gone too far with that scene, but Emma was fine. Helena is a very wholesome person.

She's good at playing mentally disturbed people, though. She was excellent as Ophelia in Mel Gibson's _Hamlet_ movie. The first movie I saw her in was _Lady Jane_ (about King Edward's cousin, Jane Grey, who was Queen of England for 9 days in 1553 due to Edward and the Protestant faction at court wanting a Protestant Queen rather than the Catholic Queen Mary; Jane and her husband are deposed, imprisoned, and eventually executed in 1554 after Jane's father - played by Patrick Stewart - attempts an unsuccessful revolution to depose Mary and reinstate Jane).

In the book Ron realizes and explains that Harry had the Invisibility Cloak for years and it's "invisibility charm" has still not worn off. Infact, it has belonged to his father and passed on to Harry in the 1st movie, probably through Dumbledore. They had a few examples where it also protected against certain spells which is not normal even in the Magical World. The invisible charm of the "normal" invisibility cloaks stays for 2-3 years give or take a year. Harry's Cloak is still working as new and hence, cannot be the "normal" invisibility cloak that the Magical World knows about. It is definitely one of Deathly Hallows if the mythical story is true. Harry and Hermione couldn't have known this due to their muggle-upbringing. This explanation is not in the movies. Not that it was necessary for the story-telling but still it does give a perspective. Non-book readers may think that anyone can conjure up an Invisibility Cloak through magic and hence importance of Harry having it is lost a bit.

Other than Dobie’s death, my heart broke when Hermione had to obliviate her parents. Emma”s acting was on form!! What you didn’t see is…BOOK spoiler alert… she meticulously covered every loose end that she could think of. When she wiped their memories of her, she also cast spells on them to want to move to Australia, so they pack up and move there. She had given them new names, moved their money to an Australian bank, set up a place for them to live, etc. Her hope is that someday it would be over, and she could lift the enchantments off of them. Until then, they are safely hidden away on an Australian beach, drinking their retirement away, never knowing that they ever had a daughter.

something they don't mention in the movie is that dittany just ages a wound. in the book, it was like someone took an ice cream scoop of flesh, and they were only able to just age the wound to a few days old instead of actually healing it up. part of it being rated pg-13 means they just had blood instead of the odd gore, and ron was still injured and not eating enough to heal the missing chunk of flesh. i know it looks like he's just the dude unhappy to be on the camping trip, but he does have reason to be irritated, i promise!

Also, the movie doesn't mention that they were almost starved because you can't make food simply appear using magic. since people are talking about the deleted scenes, i actually wish that they include both dudley's farewell to harry and petunia's farewell. for dudley, it shows the character's growth and kinda mend the relationship between him and harry. i really love petunia's scene because it shows that it's not only harry who felt the loss of his parents, petunia also felt the loss of her sister. of course it will never justify the harm that they have done to harry, but at least it humanized them and make us understand their character and what they have been through

Still marathoning my rewatch 🤣 I just wanted to talk about a moment in this movie that always makes me incredibly emotional. Harry and Ron's fight gets me tearing up. If there were a word for someone who is dearer than a friend but isn't a brother, that's how I would describe their bond. So to hear such deeply hurtful things come from Ron's mouth right to Harry's face when Ron's part of the only little chosen family he has, my heart aches for both of them. Regardless of Ron wearing the horcrux, it was like all of Harry's insecurities about his lack of family that has kept him distant and unable to let himself connect, being realized out loud. I find this one and HBP to be my favorites because I'm less about the action because it's too fast compared to the book. I like the depth of emotion achieved in 6 and 7.1. They're both stunningly moving creations.

Hedwig's death is significant in that it signifies the moment where Harry truly loses his childhood and innocence, as she was the only friend he had through and through and was his only connection to the wizarding world when outside of hogwarts. It was mentioned that you kept waiting for them to really kick it into gear and figure it out, but they're just 17-year-Olds, on an impossible mission to retrieve unknown artifacts possessed by a piece of the soul of the darkest wizard of the time, and of course they're fumbling it. We can assume that even Dumbledore didn't have it all figured out, and he was like, 150, give or take a few years? 😂 I think it should also be noted that, while the trio is piecing things together and seeing them through, they almost always have help in getting the next piece. Rescue group at the beginning, Kreacher the house elf, mundungus fletcher, lovegood, Dumbledore (gift brought Ron back), and so on. there's so many along the way, they're just trying to keep up with all the info. To me, both in the books and the movies, I have always found Deathly Hallows 1 and 2 to be the time when the other lessons are being put into action. I was lucky enough to have had him for 16 years and have my mom still alive but I know that exact feeling he had when he saw their tombstones. Especially when Ron says “your parents are dead. You have no family.” Ron doesn’t have a single immediate family member dead at that point. While I understand his panic, I would never wish a parent or siblings death on anyone. While he's wrestling with Harry and Ron in the cellar, Pettigrew considers letting them go, at which point the silver hand that Voldemort gave him acts on its own and strangles him to death. And Elf magic is often quite effective towards wizards because it's a different kind of magic and can avoid many of their spells. Hey guys as usual watching your reactions make my day, I'm from Bogota (Colombia) and here we have a thematic restaurant of Harry Potter.. I went last week and my friend and I get to talk with the manager and we talk about reactions of people watching HP for the first time and we'll I talk her about your channel😁 Thank you for what you do, for taking the time to truly answer the comments and I just happy that you feel in love with HP💚
