@@evannarvais type RA engine, they did reinforce it and people have been pushing it more and for longer, just don’t launch it everyday and beat on it constantly, you’re asking for trouble by doing that. you can do those mods in this vid (Front mount intercooler recommended) and you can make 450 and keep torque at a minimum cause that’s what blows these things up mainly and misuse. As a previous Subaru WRX/STi owner, they’re not bad cars but the WRX 5 speeds were notoriously known for failure, & upgrading to the STi 6 speed was a must for anything beyond stage 2. The EJ series was in production for over 30 years, and in the STi it remained largely the same (besides some changes to heads, exhaust can timing & upping boost over 20 year production run) EJ series also had some known issues, known for rod knock, spun bearings, tendency to develop oil leaks at higher mileage. Also, the fuel system would require upgrading anything beyond stage 2 on the EJ257. All in all a very unique engine, sounds great especially with the unequal length headers, & this engine when built, with a built transmission is actually sweet.

Okay so I’ve been looking to get ur stage 2 short bock for a hybrid build in my bug eye and I’ve been stacking parts but it’s rated for “400” but ur pushing what is basically ur stage 1 block to more than you rate a stage 2? I understand the customer probably knows this and you probably fully explained the risks of 450 on an sock block. But like how far can I go with that stage 2 would 500 be an over sight?
@BaderBuiltRacing3 жыл бұрын
These stock motor cars we have done have been for close friends that understand the risks. If mistreated they will break, most of them are a bit older and mistreat the cars and they have no issues with them lasting. My stage 2 block is rated for 400whp, only gain it has over a stock block is having forged pistons. But it still retains factory bearing clearances / rods that will hold it back. Stage 3 is the next step up and fully blue printed / assembled by us. This block is a much better option and you’re only paying for part cost really of rods vs stage 2 block price. Hybrid setups I truly only push to 400whp especially if cylinder heads aren’t chamber matched. After that I highly recommend a full 2.5 swap. So the stage 2 would work well for you in your application, but I’d still recommend the stronger stage 3 that’s blue printed.

Absolutely not, but the stock unit does work well until you begin to get into the higher rpms. Ive ran a stock pulley with revving to 9800rpms and it kept trying to throw belt off, and no matter how tight I got it the pulley would eat up belt. Was this the right way to go about things? Absolutely not, but it gave me real world testing for you guys to Benefit from.
