I wish I'd done something like this. 4yrs ago I got diagnosed with MS. Last year I had to sell the bike and won't be able to ride again. I was 40 last year and had a bike since 20ish. Currently deciding if I can even drive my car now. Life really does test you sometimes mate. Chin up Barron.

If you paid for the crap Hotel room on your credit card, initiate a charge back on it and let the credit card company fight it out for you. Even if you don’t get a full refund, the Hotel gets a bit of grief and it’ll hopefully make them realize they can’t have people over without consequence.

If I could, I would be doing it 24/7. Throw the fecking GPS away! It ruins every trip. And do not rely on the internet for suggestions. Me, it´s the 919 ´Blade, some paper maps, a general idea of where I am going and where things are, and not much more. Regarding your relationship, well, who am I to comment? One thing is for sure: no one is more important than you. Eastern Europe should be tempting enough to any of us, myself included. I am hoping to do a similar trip. If you are ever around my neck of the woods (a.k.a. the southernmost point of England, ;-) ), I will get you hooked up with a nice place and even better food.

One of the best holidays I had was biking around France. Made sure to avoid all big towns/cities and stay in little remote places, which was fantastic. Then decided to 'treat ourself' and stay in Dijon in a nice hotel. Was absolutely shite and put a damper on the rest of the trip.

I went to split last September and stayed in a splendid Airbnb for half the money. The town is amazingly beautiful with a lot of historic places to visit and even beautiful beaches. Had a great time there.

Chris, I’m sure we all appreciate the ‘warts and all’ production and as reminder that we all have shitty days. However when these situations happen to me I just try to remember how lucky I am. Rather than focussing on your problems if you try to reframe your perspective a little, it can help a lot to your mental state. You’re probably in the top 2% of earners globally, tall white male (and still with hair!) with lots of opportunities, and yesterday you rode an absolutely stunning coastal road.. etc etc. Some people have such bad anxiety they’ll never have the courage to swing a leg over a bike let alone ride abroad. I’m not having a dig as we’ve all been there on a shitty day- just try to remember you’re a whole lot luckier than someone working a 20 hour day in an Indian sweatshop for example. Next time give it a try and I hope your problems seem a little bit smaller. It works for me. Chin up!

The good things about these experiences is that you learn something isn't it. Last july I drove from Finland to Turkey and I've learnd that next time I will buy everything I need from Serbia and fill my tank also in Serbia just just before Europian Bolivia (read Bulgaria) and I just drive through that country. Only stops I wil di is pee side o9f the road. I know that others has better experiences from Bulgaria, but my first one wasn't and because it's quite fast driven through, not bothered to give it another change. I would'd say that was onlu country I was disapointment with my road trip last year. But there was few others what I just drove through because I had quite a long distances to drive from hotel to hotel.

Oh boy... I wish I had seen your videos earlier and had a way to warn you about Split... I lived in Croatia for a while, in Zagreb. I know the country pretty well (for a non Croatian at least), and gosh, I can confirm everything about Split. I am not sure why it has such a great image... but it's shit. As soon as you get out of the very small, crowded and boring old town, everything is shit. It's surely the town I liked the least in the whole balkan honestly. Locals are often cunts, especially if you tell them you live in Zagreb. During the summer they love to do tourist in the butt with a grain of salt. Awful... avoid it at any cost people!! When I first saw the video before, where you talked about your next stop in Split and how excited you were, I was sure you'd be disappointed... At least you saw how beautiful is the rest of the country!

its quite serious actually.. we take it for granted in the UK.. water out the tap is fine to drink.. but its easy to go back to hotel room and forget you cant drink the water in some countries.. then they say bars shut and wow.. you're thinking.. I have no water to drink. Luckily the hotel I was in said I could have couple of bottles of expensive fizzy water even after the bar had shut (even gave it for free).. because thats all they had.

come to praia grande in sintra in portugal to the hotel arribas at the atlantic ocean for 150 euros during high season and 60 during off season including breakfast for 2!( not associated with the hotel, i just live down the street).....😊

I went to split a few years ago and stayed just outside the city in stobrec. Tbh I completely agree with the fact that it was a shit hole. The old marble part of the town was lovely but 1/4 mile outside that was grim! The people were really standoff-ish too. Shame because the countryside is amazing.

Next time avoid Split go 45 minutes further down Magistrala (coast road) to Brela or Baska Voda on if you fancy a slightly bigger town but with great beaches and bars the try Makarska.

Hotel prices during the summer of 2022 were absolutely insane! Places like Croatia and Greece used to be inexpensive but now you can have a cheaper Vacation in South of France or Italy. One of the youtubers posted a video of the Greek Island prices (hotels, restaurants, beach bars), it is sickening. Traveling used to be fun, but not anymore. Airports are packed, planes are packed, service is terrible everywhere you go. If you pay the $ and get a decent place and pleasant service it is one thing, but nowadays you get screwed on both ends.

I´m sorry that you had a bad experience in Split. Those two guys dressed as Romans actually make a kind of sense. Split didn´t start out as a city, but as the palace of the Roman Emperor Diocletian. The whole city center are it´s remains. You can even see Sphinxes and Obelisks that the Emperor brought from Egypt If you should ever come into this region again, here are a few bits of advice, from a local: - Don´t come in July. It´s way too hot and crowded. Split is not only a very popular tourist destination, but also a major ferry port. - Visit the Islands. They are super beautiful. - Don´t stay in the City Center. You pay a ridiculous premium for that. Stay in one of the surrounding towns. Podstrana for example is 10km south of Split and wonderful to stay in. - Don´t visit the city center in the evening. It is ridiculous how packed with people it gets. Go there in the early morning and make sure to visit the marketplace and the fish market. - Use Split as a base to explore central Dalmatia. Many awesome places can be easily reached from there. A few recommendations: Trogir, Omis, Makarska, SInj, The islands of Solta, Brac and Hvar, multiple national parks. Special tip: Drive SOuth of Split to Makarska and visit the Biokovo National park. A road leads through it (there is an entrance fee), up to the very top of a huge mountain (be a skilled driver). Breathtaking views, untouched nature, wild horses and other animals running free. It´s no wonder that so many western were filmed in central Dalmatia.
