Can you imagine after his entire life at war standing, fighting, suffering with these men the feeling of betrayal of those who turn from him or who lose the fighting spirit? Standing in front of them, speaking such words and the way it would really feel being those men? It’s crazy how much people once did so young that those with age & wisdom could never do even today? We are so comfortable in life not knowing the true hardships of the world then and sadly in so many places even today. No matter how much we hope for peace and harmony there will always be as there has always been war, atrocities and suffering. All we can do is try to learn from those before us and try to be the example of we hope to set in change. Humanity is complicated, flawed and life is a battle of its own. But we should remember how much comfort and ease our lives have in this time vs those in the past. To understand we all suffer our own pains and trials but that were it not for all that came before us humanity would not were it is. Better in so many ways, yet still struggling forward to hopefully leave it that bit more harmonious than before. Thank you for an amazing episode. It really is crazy to realize how 1 person in history so often changes the world forever.

During his conquest of Hellas, Philip II of Macedon sent a message to Sparta: "If I invade Laconia you will be destroyed, never to rise again." The Spartans replied with a single word: "If" Needless to say, Macedon didn’t fuck with Sparta.

The Farsi pronunciation of Darius is "Dah-ríí-oush" (the Farsi is somewhat tonal but fairly soft and lyrical) most Western scholars pronounce it "Dah-RYE-us" honestly I would just go for the modern American pronunciation of "Dairy-us."

Zeus wasn't specifically called something like "papa-snake". It was just one of his many tricks. Once, he transformed into liquid gold to impress an imprisoned mortal hottie (Danaë), and after some strange sexy time with her (as liquid gold), Perseus was born. No snake action there. Go figure... ⚡

I think defunding the police needs to be renamed, because of its phrasing it gives off a negative connotation. Should have a clearer name, so that people don't think it means get rid of the police. To those of you who are in support of that movement and read this. And if it's demilitarizing the police, then make that point clear.

It's quite embarrassing when famous academic scholars like Peter Green pretends to be sure to deduce facts or descriptions of historical events or characters by simply offering something that actually is only their own personal interpretation, made upon their own standards, of the same sources from which other scholars have made different interpretations. There is nothing more ridiculous than modern historians pretending to offer their biases as more accurate interpretations. How can someone really know which rappresentation of Alexander is more realistic? 🤣 🤣 🤣 Are we there to see if he was a beautiful man or not so much? Does anyone ever heard his voice? He loved also men so we can deduce he had a shrill voice? Really?! It's so funny when scholars who passed all their life studying something lose themselves in these biases... Well, no it isn't funny at all, it's embarrassing...
