I don't how it is outside of NY but the Bus Drivers in NY make decent money and Bridget is right a lot of them have a lot of good health benefits, paid vacations, sick days, holidays, retirement plans like 401k and a pension too. I went to an all white high-school so a lot of my friends that I know now in my 30s are white or hispanic. The fascinating thing I find with white people and hispanics is that their wives and girlfriends don't belittle the fact that they're blue collar workers. I know a white dude who works as a roof salesman and he makes maybe $70k a year. His wife doesn't clown him for getting up on roofs 10 hours a day and writing up estimates. She wakes up at 6 AM and cooks him breakfast, cooks and packs his lunch, then gets ready for her work as a teacher, etc. They take pride in their man and seem to not care about nonsense. Then again with this discussion I wonder how much of it is that we're clinically online compared to this being a genuine thing with black women.

@@AGentlemansJourney77 when I met her, I was a School Bus Driver making way less than her ex-husband was. In fact during that time, I had three jobs due to Child Support obligations. Getting with me was a huge financial step down for her. Things are a little better now though. Still struggling but doing better. We ended up purchasing a house together. Three bedrooms two bath. Her old house had five bedrooms though.

@@JG-dy2hk Well she's right in some ways when she states that drivers do get viewed as lazy, not very ambitious, and stuff because dealing with the public for most of my life now you do get viewed and labelled. The public does label you as lazy, unmotivated, overpaid, rude, bad attitude, and more. I've been called every name in the book, I've seen pretty much every (including a suicide jumper in 2008). I joke with some of my friends who are not in this industry that my job is a little bit like prostitution because the amount of screwing I get from the public and how bus companies can be like pimps because so many of us get screwed over by the company or union in some manner. I'm grateful to have a job but its one that changes you over time.

Nothing wrong with driving a bus but this is really about social class. Upper class women aren’t really supposed to “date down” like that. What do they have in common to talk about? How can they relate to each other? The bottle chicks wouldn’t be so bad if they had a plan on how to transition out of that into something more serious but most of them get caught up in the life. That’s when they end up still in the club in their 30s with a kid or two. No real skills to do anything,addicted to fast money and can’t figure how to do something else more “legitimate” to make money.

I used to work at Ford full time. I wanted freedom. I chased it. I'm not compatible with a guy who just wants a stable job. Not an insult at all. I want a guy who would want to invest with me or separately and travel without putting in a request for time off. Different lifestyles. We might make the same or you might make more but freedom is more important to me at this point than money.
