I love this pattern but I can’t come up with 60 stitches at the end of each row I’m on my second hat the first one was the same way. I keep taking it out and redoing it still can’t figure out where I’m going wrong.

@@sheilaclark8356 The last basic beanie I made I had the same thing happen; I was somehow getting an extra stitch. I've made several others before and didn't have that problem. This is just a basic double crochet beanie and I joined the rows exactly as Crystal does (I thought!). Still trying to figure out how I managed to add stitches. I don't know what I did wrong.

I've watched hours of KZbin crochet videos. How is it I'm just now finding your channel?? Hands down one of the very best tutorials I've ever seen. Clear, concise & without lots of extra chitchat. Took me just 2 viewings & I was able to complete the hat this evening. I found that with my gauge I needed a chain of 66 to start. Turned out beautifully & used up a skein I already had in the cupboard! Thanks!

“Hopefully I can teach well enough that you can do it” (if you are a beginner). Crystal, you are such an excellent teacher that you could teach a rock to crochet if it had hands! I love your work! Thank you for all you do. Edit: Completed with Loops and Threads: Barcelona in color way Heartbeat (bulky 5) with a 6mm hook. Turned out great! I did my first row of single crochet into the back bump so it left a nice clean edge. I didn’t add the row of single crochet around the brim at the completion.

I like this hat and this yarn. And I have some leftover yarn this would be perfect for! Suggestion: If that final round of SC edging at the bottom is not going to be decorative, why not just do two rounds of sc at the beginning? Also, how about doing the initial chain one hook size up from the size you're using to stitch--I learned this tip from another KZbin crochet guru. Helps a lot if your initial chain feels tighter than the crochet fabric you've worked.
