CVT -- Chain system with variable diameter on both A end pully and B end pully. Standard Automatic ( Torque Converter) - Oru big gear um... multi planet gear um. combination of multiple gear makes gears....changes. Torque converter means... oil centrifugal pumping gives power from one side to other ( engine to wheel)

DSG normally using in VW group because of high performance gear box in the world. DSG have dual dry clutch with Mechatronic . VW is using DSG 200 model transmission.This transmission never have any milage issue if u driven this vehicle in out of city. The VW polo and Vento have 15 to 18 kilometers per liter if you not using sports mode. DSG including triptronic( manul transmission) , you can use together this transmission in triptronic as well as manual.

Torque converter is NOT a gearbox or transmission as you mentioned. It is the connector between the engine and gearbox and performs like an automatic clutch. Secondly you mentioned a few brands that use CVT. However you did not mention Toyota who is the pioneer and patent holder for CVTs.

Dear Baiju, AMT is automated manual transmission. Even when you switch to manual mode the drive feel is still the same in AMT as the gearbox will shift upwards only in the designated RPM ie around 1800 similar to that in the auto mode. The gear Box is a manual one. The shifting and de-clutching is done by actuators which are controlled by the cars electronic control module ECU depending on the demand made by the gas pedal. Ihave driven AMTs for around 40ooo kms. Good work Baiju. Informative as well
