BAIT FISHING for Monster Flathead

Love this video! Growing up, we mostly fished the maroochy river. We stayed at Cotton Tree Caravan park, go out to the sand bar on our surf ski to get yabbies and we used to catch a lot of flathead just off the beach, some huge, but not that big! That certainly is a stonka flaty! We used a variety of bait, but it was yabbies we caught them on I think. Could be wrong, 35 years ago! I loved watching this :)

Wow wow wow!!! Now this 12:21 minutes of my life won’t be wasted Wayne !! My brother bill Rip... caught one like this up a creek near Clontarf 40 years ago , we were walking on the sandbar in the creek, we both jumped in the boat thinking it was a shark !! Haha . Well done showing technical methods to catch such a beautiful fish .

Hi Wayne, while I flick lures for flathead my wife drifts a white bait on a little 3 hook gang and lifts it 50 cm off the bottom every 10 seconds or so and lets it drop back, she just repeats this and at times catches more than I do, very effective and relaxing as well.

I'm a bit old school and still believe that a well presented big bait will out fish artificial baits any day but the sport in artificial baits is so much fun its had to go back to baits.

Not many bait fishing for videos no more A lot of people still use bait tho Half a pilchard you can’t go wrong tho . A $1000 flat bottom tinny with a 6hp off gumtree is all you need if you don’t have a boat license .. Google Maps area you fishing
