I just noticed that Aaliyah was just a kid when she passed 22 is very young but looking at her performances you would forget she was so young her beautiful voice is my favorite
@mraj199715 жыл бұрын
The main fact here is that Aaliyah has a voice of an Angel which I believe is being heard in heaven among other Angels. She was never capable of singing a bad version of any song. The girl was/ still is in my mind a beautiful, talented, loving gift that we were lucky enough to have had on this earth for the all too brief time we did. To me she's more than "One in a million" she is "Once in a lifetime!" I'll always love this girl for who she was and her talent!

I know this ain't got nothin' to do with Baby Girl's vocals, but I'm really into image and I have noticed that Aaliyah is one of the few people in the spotlight who's hair has NEVA looked a mess. She always looked on point.

im so tired of people saying aaliyah was underrated. aaliyah had about 10 hit singles(back and forth,at your best,one in a million,if your girl only knew,one i gave my heart to,try again,are u that somebody,miss u,rock the boat,more than a woman,journey to the past,i dont wanna and i care for u.) thats really good for a 7 year career. not only that but 4 hit albums including the greatest hit album. dont forget aaliyah was nominated for about 4 grammys and won mtv awards. thats a lot.

She was definitely a star, that was never the question. I feel she was underrated as far as awards and record sales are concerned. I know her accolades. She was also the youngest black female to perform at the Oscars. I'm a huge fan, but I still feel she was a bit underrated. And that a lot of people never understood her, mainly because she was always ahead of her time. Especially sonically. People didn't know what to do with One in a Million when it came out. Radio stations didnt wanna play it

She was underrated. She hasn't won many awards, or even sold as many records as a lot of her contemporaries. I hate to compare, but other people are a good way to measure success. She hadn't even gotten to that point yet where she was DOING IT BIG as far as money is concerned. She was on her way though. Her movies and everything she had going right before she died were just small steps towards her becoming that big. She had potential to be Janet Jackson big. Sold out tours, topping charts big.
@Talkin2Me400012 жыл бұрын
She definitely did a lot in her career, but as far as awards go, more than half of the awards that she actually won came after she passed away, which sucks. I wish she would have won more, because I thought she deserved to win more and be bigger than she was, but all in all I'm satisfied with her legacy.

dude who said u need awards to be a star? aaliyah was platnium at 15, she won a mtv award which is very prestigious, aaliyah was one of the most important dedications to 90's hiphop/r&b music, she was just as big of a star as monica and brandy who were her companions, aaliyah performed at the white house in front of bill clinton, are u that somebody is listed as one of the best 90's songs, try again was one of the best songs in the 2000. aaliyah has done a lot in 7 years.

Every bodies album sales go up after their death. And that album was only a month old, and she only had one single out. I believe that for it's time, and it's sound, people didn't relate well to "We Need A Resolution" While she was alive, most people were saying their favorite song on the album was "Rock The Boat", which is why I believe that was a reason she was rushed to make a video for it. I think the album would've taken off with her other songs on the album, people loved those more.

yup it is from this performance that i say she would tear up i care 4 u live because the note she hits @ 2:26 sounds just like the last note in i care 4 u and all the other head voice chest voice transitioning would be cake for her what she lacked in chest voice power she had in head voice, transitioning through registers and her low notes and unique tone

Album sales don't mean shit. I don't like to compare but Rihanna sells millions of albums but they are pieces of disposal music unlike Aaliyah she had bodies of work that I could listen too 5 years later and felt the same rawness. dude! the album recieved gold certification after like 2 weeks and the album debuted on US Billboard 200 at number 2 with 200,000 copies sold in the 1st week. her death did increase those sells, but hey! that doesnt mean her whole career was a fluke. aaliyah was ahead of her time, she was one of the mainsteam artist in the 90's with hit after hit after hit and she was a important figure in music. she doesnt need awards to prove anything. aaliyahs career was rising more.
@Talkin2Me400012 жыл бұрын
No one is downplaying her success, ya'll just don't like honesty. The album was more successful AFTER she died. DEAL WITH IT PEOPLE! The album was selling less and less until she died. FACT! It went from #19 to #1 after her death. With a 800% sales increase the week she died. I'm not saying the album would never been successful, but she was gonna have to work hard for this album to be really successful. More promotion. Stop trying to argue with me if u can't be honest with yourself.

When she died 7 weeks after the release, that album jumped from number 19 on Billboard to number 1! There's no way u can say that album was popular before she died. She was gonna have to work hard for that album. Going gold was easy to do back then. I feel like Rock The Boat was definitely gonna help. That was a lot of people's favorite song on the album before it was ever a single. But she didn't even get to tour with that album. It was popular and sold millions bcuz she died. Point blank.

She still was going multi-platinum though, and was always nominated throughout her career. If she's going multi-platinum that means the people love her, and consumers matter more. Award shows are like a media popularity contest. Justin Bieber is winning Amas, and whatnot. I'm not going to say he's not talented but there are BETTER. He's just the person that has the image to sell, so they expect him to have all of the glory. Wouldn't doubt if he topped Michael Jackson.

i think the whole vocal was good no pitch problems what i find is Aaliyah was great at singing ballads even though she prefered up tempos ballads was her strong point cant deny girl could sing had she lived i feel she would have done prerecorded versions fore her uptempo performances like what Beyonce does and the with ballads gone live

Her lack of awards just proves how unappreciated her work was amongst her peers who give out awards. (UNDERRATED). She doesn't need them to validate her, but that's just the honest truth. She was underrated. Who said her career was a fluke?? LOL. I'm not being negative, its just honest, and the truth. I'm a HUGE FAN! The only KZbin vid i have is 1 i made DEFENDING Baby Girl. I have framed pictures of her on my wall till this day! Her and Janet. But I'm honest and won't sugar coat things.

Diga-me! Diga-me! Como você pôde simplesmente sair pela porta? Como você pôde não me amar mais? Pensei que eu tinha você para sempre Eu não consigo entender!!!

Oh please the album was platinum worldwide BEFORE she died. It had sold 500,000 copies alone in the UK & it was in Gold in America in a matter of 3 weeks with 1 flop lead single which she never performed or promoted so it not easy to go Gold under those circumstances. That was the fastest her album had ever sold. It WAS going to go platinum in the US giving the right promotion. Chart positions don't mean a damn thing you can still sell by not being in the Top 10. Stop downplaying her success.

naw i agree. not my fav performance and ya'll know i love me some Aaliyah. This was her time to shine like da Oscars. DIANE WARREN, huge audience, bomb background singers and a chill stage with a piano. This could been the best perfomance of a ballad done by her.
