Kevin you're the Bible of information and mechanical experience but the most touching reason of my following is your humility ... follower for life!!!

I just found this video... I have been watching your videos for a long time. The VNV MC shifter rod really got my attention since I'm a 35 year member of the VNV MC. I really like the work you do. I may have to get with you to see if you can fix my problems I'm having with my Darkhorse comp sprocket, chain tensioner and noisy transmission. I was told I would need to replace the "countershaft low gear" on my 2010 SG to the M8 gear.

never having been into a harley trans. i was surprised just how easy it was to r&r your kit. its not like rebuilding stern drives on powerboats. those are a real pain. but the funny part is just how identical with bearing pullers, seal drivers, etc they both are. you were spot on with the installation. excellent. now only if my road king had already come with your 7 speed that would ice my cake. it just shows me how little r&d they put into building something that could be better. engines, trans, etc. and how they wait until their customers are so pissed off to make the necessary improvements. my first gear is like taking off in second in my dads pickup. it draaaags @$$! specially with a passenger on a hill. from a stop. they must use anorexic people they design by. and not real average weight people and gear.

I love the attention to detail and seal precautions, use of the proper tools, and Pap's oil can. The audio was much better in the 2nd video, both were great for detail. I've had good performance from Spectro 6-Speed 75-140 in the transmissions. I'ts the only synthetic I use. Motor and primary chain case are both dinosaur, Valvoline Premium Blue, class 8 over the road truck motor oil.

True. And seeing how one goes together gives a person an opportunity to assess their own abilities to determine if they should pay someone to do it or not.

Hi! I have a backlash between "LEVER, SHIFTER ROD" and "LEVER ASSEMBLY, SHIFTER PAWL". My mileage is 47k miles. What is the probability of wear and tear of "LEVER ASSEMBLY, SHIFTER PAWL"? Thank you so much for great videous!

Countershaft needle bearing when you replace it do you push it in from the outside since it is a blind bearing

A few things that I’ve heard are a down side not mentioned? 1. The ECM needs to be re programmed for gear ratios? 2. As well I’m told cruise control won’t be proper or work with this? What about these 2 questions? I have a DD7 new in garage that is a winter project but these 2 questions I’ve seen as down grades? I definitely don’t want to lose cruise control, and what happens to the 6 gear green light when applying? Does it this work in 6 gear or go out? Thanks in advance

At 13:08 you are reinstalling the side cover that has the words SIX SPEED on it, and that's not your fault, but darn!

Why does the DD7 not have the Baker tapered main bearing conversion?? It came with my Baker Grudgebox.
@KevinBaxter3 жыл бұрын
It does now. That video was post many years ago before the tapered main was developed.

Another great video. Will the DD7 work in a 5 speed case? I have a 2000 Ultra Classic Id like to upgrade.
@KevinBaxter4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much. No...DD7 wont work in the 5spd case but a 6 speed will. I'll be back in the shop Tuesday. Give me a call at 6782269651 and we can discuss options and get one ordered for you.

shouldn't you be bearing on the outer race when your pressing the main drive gear bearing into the trans case?
@KevinBaxter2 жыл бұрын
There is virtually zero resistance on that bearing. You can almost do it by hand. I only use the tool to make sure it's square.
