Chicot was the legendary. I played this all the way to ante 14. There was a lot of negatives along the way. Ended up with 14 jokers by the end, a couple of them were even doing something besides adding temperance value, but the heavy lifting was done by a bloodstone and oops all 6's. I went with a poly glass red seal 8's build as I got the 8 ball from the first mega arcana skip.

Definitely wouldn’t call the blue seal busted. I think, in an ideal world, every seal should be equally powerful. Before, blue seal was by far the worst compared to the other seals. Now I think blue purple and red are all relatively equally powerful, and while gold seal doesn’t have the same raw power long term, it does provide a nice short term boost and combinations with jokers that re triggers played cards are very powerful.

I think its better to open empress before opening a celestial pack of 3 planets, if you hit the 2/9 chance to get the planet you want you can keep the other planet as a blocker to have a 3/8 chance to get a second copy of that planet from the pack. (It also makes your fool better in the future on average.) If you open the pack first you have a 3/9 chance to get the planet you want, if you get it you now have no blockers for your empress and only have a 2/9 chance to get the second copy. 2/9 + 3/8 > 3/9 + 2/9 The probability of getting one/no planet is the same regardless you will see 5 unique planets in both cases. I haven't checked but I'm pretty confident that this actually reverses for the mega celestial packs where you get to pick 2/5 and its better to open those before empress. I know if I am wrong I will be swiftly corrected, I hope somebody else can double check this for me.

Your numbers are pretty wrong but your advice is sound. You have to take into account that each planet card cannot be a duplicate, even within a pack. This means a high priestess card has a 1/9 chance for the first planet and a 1/8 chance from the second. This continues for each card in the Celestial. Your logic is still correct for the order though because opening the priestess after the pack is exactly the same as opening a jumbo pack instead. I did some math on the mega packs and think you are also correct there; you should get 1.85 copies of that planet on average opening the mega first and 1.24 when opening the tarot first.

I think the new blue seal is probably fine since it’s a maximum of 3 planet cards per round, and you do need to be playing the hand you want to level up last, which means you can’t transition builds very easily if you get it early as was show cased in this video. I think that straight’s on the abandoned deck are just the most powerful thing you can do with an early blue seal at the moment since they are reliable to get and they are significantly more powerful than any other reliable hand (unless you consider four of a kind reliable).

Do you feel like the new blue seal is to overpowered now? I mean getting level 40 on any hand was pretty much impossible even with jokers built around leveling hands and the telescope voucher but now you just did it without any jokers and without telescope.. feels a little busted lol

-tell that to my v1.0.0 unseeded level 73 flush house build- checkered deck, got double Blueprint in ante 2, destroyed 5 cards (IIRC 4 spades and a heart) with immolate thanks to the same mega spectral pack, converted a bunch of spades to hearts with sun and destroyed more with hanged man to have an almost fully hearts deck by ante 5, and on ante 3 I got Space Joker and Oops All 6s, with Bloodstone on ante 6 to replace some other xmult. With more deaths and strengths, I converted most of them to 8s, 5s, and Aces - hoping for Fibonacci and/or Hack, which never came - by the time the run ended on ante 14 or 15, and I negatived two things along the way to make room for a Brainstorm and a Lusty Joker. I'd just play two or three flush houses every blind, with 3 shots at a 1/2 hand level up each time for an average of about 4 per blind, 11~12 levels per ante, not counting telescope giving me another 1~3 per ante most of the time. I lost bc I forgot to move Bloodstone to be triple duped for the 3rd Flush House, and didn't find a 4th with my remaining hands.

I just got to the point of the video where I think this comment was made, and forgive me if this is a major skill issue on my end but in my opinion, planet cards were severely underpowered compared to tarots, the new blue seal puts it at a similar level to purple seal spam. Also, as demonstrated in the video, sometimes you have to play or discard your blue seals if you don't just want -x hand size and ruin your chances.

Without any Jokers, any Hand which isn't a Straight scores too little to be relevant. And then once we know a Straight one-shots, we avoid playing Hands until after we draw the Blue Seals. However, it is worthwhile to play throw-away Hands to save Discards for Purple Seals. And to a lesser extent, it's worthwhile to save Hands for Lucky Cards and Gold Seals.

I kinda feel like it's a real problem for the difficulty curve that purple stake jokerless is now identical to gold stake jokerless it really feels like there should be some other added difficulty there... If I was to backseat design for a second I would change the Blue stake to add perishables, the Orange stake to add rentals, and the Gold Stake to be -1 Discard AND -1 Hand per round. Also partially because current blue stake -1 discard per round is kind of unfun imo

That's what the change to blue seal in the experimental build (and upcoming patch) does. It used to give a random planet, now gives you the planet of the round winning hand you played.

It's basically just a challenge run lol, don't hate on it, he's not suggesting anyone could or should do it, he's just showing that it's technically doable - just like the people who play Fire Emblem games with only one specific character, or who try to beat various other games without jumping/pressing a given button/etc. Showcase, personal satisfaction, extra challenge, all are valid reasons to do a run like this, and there's no reason to complain about how others play a singleplayer game/mode. If you don't find it fun, don't do it yourself, but don't tell other people not to do it, because they might find it fun. I certainly intend to try this myself, maybe not with straights (probably full house or flush), because I personally enjoy putting restrictions on my playthroughs for extra difficulty, if I found it easy enough the first time without those restrictions.
