I can't tell you how happy I am to see Bald continue to upload! I know he get this a lot, I see it all the time in his KZbin and Instagram comments, but he truly is such an incredible KZbinr and journalist. He was my go-to source for fun Russian adventures, and knowledge when I first got obsessed with Chernobyl and the Soviet Union. He brought us through India, which is what sparked my curiosity into other travel and other cultural channels. I've always loved the idea of traveling, specifically to Ireland and/or England, but cannot due to being physically handicap. Ben has allowed me to see parts of the world I've always wanted too, but in a very real and authentic way. He's not a "travel/journalist" channel, he's just a very nice and charismatic guy, who travels around, experiencing the world for what it really is. I know he doesn't plan to do this forever, but I really hope he continues for a good while longer.

It's the USSR not Russia, the ruling Afghanistan communist party govt. had sought the help of USSR to counter the religious parties and groups who want Afghanistan to turn into Sharia law driven Islamic country. West,USA and Pakistan along with the Saudis had started to support the Muslim religious fanatic figures and established them as Mujahideen i.e. religious warriors fighting against non believers. Foreign resistant groups like Laden's Al Qaeda joined them during the 1980s. After the Soviet departure one of a strong ultra religious group out of these Islamic Mujahideen had turned into Taliban and waged war against westranisation as it wants Sharia based society. Progressive and modern elements of Afghan society were killed by US & westerns themselves under the guise of supporting freedom fighters fighting against invaders.

I have a friend that trekked through Afghanistan in the early '60's. One night they stayed in a small village and ontinued down the trail the next morning. They were quite alarmed to see a good number of the villagers following them, chattering excitedly. They feared that the villagers were waiting to get out of sight on the village and would then kill and rob them. They cam around a bend and were confronted with a rope bridge strung out across a deep canyon. The villager crowded around them and they noticed money being flashed and changing hands. They cam to realize the villagers were betting on whether they could cross the bridge without falling off to their death. He and his friend made it across and lived to tell the story.

Bald, this has to be the best ever vlog you’ve ever done! To visit this country after all that’s happened is incredible! Superb! 👍
