I first shaved my head when I was around 17. Very young but my dad is as bald as it gets and I kind of knew that hair loss was inevitable. So as soon as I've first spotted that my hair density going down and hairline receding, I went all in. I realized that I didn't want to dwell on it and drawn in self pity so I thought let's do it and forget the anxiety. I'm 39 now and I'm kind of proud of 17 year old me for having enough courage to accept the cards I'm delt with and make one of the most important right decisions in my life.

Recently I buzzed mine off. Best thing I've done. Like you I had plenty if not most people saying 'your fine, you've got plenty of time left'. This prolonged shaving it off until I realized I was only keeping my hair to please others. Many people like family and my girlfriend tried to convince me not to shave it until about 3 weeks ago when I went to my barbers, and for the last time I said, I hate my hair. Right there we took it to a 2. This although a positive step, highlighted my hair loss more, so a few days later I went to a 0. I had both positive and negative responses from others but most importantly for myself, I didn't have that worry which plagued me for the last 3 years. I'm not conscious of kneeling or sitting down and others seeing my thin hair. I'm not worried about getting a hair cut to cover my receding hair line. I'm bald and proud. I love what you do on this channel. I don't think anyone realizes what hair loss can do to a man and just how many people it affects until they go through it.
@danceswithcomicbooks77336 ай бұрын
But the total shave highlights the hair loss as complete and total doesn't it? Not saying it's a bad thing to totally shave but why does a horseshoe makes people feel nervous or bad but a total skin shave doesn't. I for one think a horseshoe looks good if done right. Watch the first season of star trek the next generation to see how Patrick Stewarts horseshoe looked. It framed his face perfectly and looked pretty cool.

I started at 25. I stated with dht shampoo, then added regain spray day and night, took procerin (which costs a lot) then started on finasteride. By the time I was 30 my hair was looking a bit fuller but still not great. Plus the downsides of buying and using all that crap daily. The regain made my head greasy, the finasteride gave my blood in my semen (stopped using that immediately after 6 months). Plus I heard it can cause libido issues. At 30 I thought why the fuck am I going to all this effort when my body is clearly wanting to get rid of my hair. So I shaved it off. Thought why didn't I just do that years ago? Could have gone travelling for 6 months with the money i spent. I'm 42 now. Nearly completely bald and shaved head. Totally embraced it. It gets less important as you get older as there are more bald men around lol. Saying that my uncle at 50 got hair surgery in Turkey. Personally think it looks stupid. Especially when you're an older guy. His wife nearly divorced him because of it.

All to say, it’s refreshing seeing a balding guy who keeps some hair (whatever’s left) on his head and rocking the look like you do!! It looks so regal and masculine at the same time 🙌🏼. Man, I came to this video to comment and say that you're the one who truly helped me to get over this thing when i was in the worse period of my life, It's probably the period of my life where i felt the most depressed, heartbroken, helpless, i remember going to the bathroom at night with the light off so that i wouldn't see my reflection in the mirror... Then I found your youtube channel, you gave me the motivation and I shaved it off and i instantly felt so relieved, It's been years now, i was 23 when i shaved, I'm 28 now, so thank you! It's good to see you blew up and hopefully you managed to make this a business, i was thinking the other day that if it wasn't for you i probably wouldn't have accepted this thing and shaved my head and i would have been probably helpless for many more months or even years so what you are doing is TRULY helping other people! please don't stop! Balding is such a stigma in our society, when i shaved people started to joke on me, it's normal to joke about bald people but try to joke about a fat person and you'll see how society turns against you... really bald men are left on their own in this pain and most of us are silent to the other people! I have lived a painful breakup after a 3 years relationship that ended up with cheating and most people would say it's the most painful feeling ever, for me balding has been way way way way worse.

I shaved mine off 2 weeks ago after years of constantly wearing a beanie and having long hair to hide it. Took it straight down to a 0. I know this channel is usually about loving the whole shaving thing. But honestly, I HATED it. I have a pretty big scar from cracking my skull as an infant. I had no clue how massive it was until now. Currently I'm rocking the stubble. I'm somewhere in the norwood 3 range. Personally, I think I'm going the transplant route. Props and mad respect to all of you. Seriously. If I thought I could rock the bald look, I would. I gave it a shot and did not like it. And that's fine with me too. Im glad I did it. It let me see a side of me I had never seen before and was/am terrified of. It has definitely been an experience. A massive change. I would still be the 31 year old wearing a beanie if it wasn't for this channel. It has definitely helped me a lot through the past few months. Seeing that it isn't just me. Who knows. Maybe in a few more weeks I will accept it better. Idk. Some days I don't mind that much and others it freaks me the heck out. Regardless, you're doing an amazing thing on this channel. This all needs to be spoken about more often in the world. It's a struggle to peoples confidence, which is a huge issue. Whether you rock the bald, hold on to what you have, or get a transplant, at the end of the day, you need to do what makes you feel confident. Best of luck out there everyone!

Yeah it's great when people love the results and I'd totally get the relief of it. I buzzed mine early on with hair loss. And hated it. Head shape, the look didn't work on me at all. I don't know if it was worth the stress of it all growing back, styling, worrying, treatments etc. But I did have quite a few years of decent enough hair. Now it's a bit worse and wondering what to do next. Some days I think buzz it off and move on, but still remember how much I hated that look on me.

@@NiMo5048The testosterone only affects the hair on the top which is why you never see completely bald people , the hair on the side and on the back is different and they are not affected by testosterone, with hair transplant they take out of that different hair so whatever they transplant it will never fall out like the original hair there , you only need to take some stuff for like a year and that's it , results depend on people individually , some do have very good results, some don't ,if some people can't gain let's say 10 year more of having good hair why they should not do it?
@NiMo50484 ай бұрын
@@davidkosiba624 The medicines are not to be taken for the transplanted hair, although it is still debated, but for the hair that you have left. To have a vaguely decent density. A healthy person has 100k hairs on their head while the donor area if you are really lucky and find a good surgeon can give you 10k. If you do not take the medicines the non-transplanted hairs will fall out in a couple of years, not 10. Hair transplant is a precarious solution if you have small bald spots and if you take the medicines, otherwise you will go back to how you were before in a short time and you have also thrown away a lot of money. If you are n6 or n7 the transplant is completely useless. If you call this a solution you have very low expectations. It is a solution only for the surgeon's wallet.

fascinating the really bald patch behind your ear - if that was stress induced you were totally right to stop worrying and go for the shaved look. That sort of balding is not treatable with finasteride! I have had 3 transplants and daily oral minoxidil and finasteride tablets, and scalp micropigmentation treatment on the FUE scars as well. It's a LOT of effort to get the hair looking like I don't have male patterned baldness, and not for everyone. If I was as handsome as you I probably would have shaved it all!

I'm 32 now and I gotta say, It was much harder to deal with going bald in my mid-20s but now that I'm in my 30s, It actually feels more normal to be bald😝 I think the worst feeling is just losing your hair when you are young. I feel like it wouldn't be as bad if we started losing it in our 50s or later
@danceswithcomicbooks77335 ай бұрын
Wel yeah I'm sure it seems normal once you've lived with it for a while. But when it first starts especially when young it can suck. But let's say a 50 something had hair allhis life but started losing it. It's just as bad because he has been used to the way he looks a lot longer. But like anyone that person can stop it or let it go

I wonder if back in 2016 and 17 if meds would have halted it. You had a pretty good head of hair back in those days. As for looking older than 7 years ago with both shave heads look. Yeah you look little bit older but we all do after 7 years. The skin loses collagen as we age and we lose that fresh look over time. You don't look a lot older but more mature . Less baby fat in the face which means less collagen. But about the same.

Excessive masturbation, bad diet (seed oils, lack of good fats/nutrients) and a lot more lead to hormonal imbalance, that drives hair loss. A lot of men with hair loss have too much DHT in relation to testosterone and other sex hormones You should have a high T:DHT ratio and sufficient estrogens/progesterone to protect your hair

I've buzzed mine off, initially thinking, damn, I'm looking great. Then I'm started seeing a different angle in front of a different lingning, and I'm like damn, the shadoff is visible, and this really stressed me out. I didn't know what to do. Keep it zero guard, slightly short or grow it back? I could have just kept long hair, with thinning on the top, and it would have been much less effort because to maintain a cool looking buzzcut, you got to trim it like every 3 days, which was just too much work for me and taking pictures of myself seeing how I look. So from now on, I'm embracing my thining balding spot, and just keeping it longer, like guard NO 2, and the sides number 1. Lastly, I grew a beard, because it just looks really strange with me having a young face, and a balding head, so to look more appropriate for my balding head appearance, a small beard is a must. Lastly, I really found it helpful when I saw a video with Harry having an interview with his father, who advised to experiment until you find a comfortable look. So thank you for that.

The progression rate of MPB varies from one to another person. I started to notice my MPB progression in 2004-2006. I am now 43, and buzzcut still gives me good impression of having decent scalp short hair (with slightly receding temple hair line). My dad started his balding process in 2008-2010, and he is now almost completely bald. While one of my cousins took only 4-5 years to go completely bald.

@jamesconnell52426 ай бұрын
@@KrisVic91 I’ve seen plenty of bad examples… usually because people aren’t realistic about what’s achievable, and end up over doing it. The best you can hope for is the shadow you have on the sides replicated on top to frame the face. I used somewhere local, called Scalp Diverse, after a lot of research. I think you have to choose an artist, based on their portfolio, as opposed to buying into the hype of any particular company

My hair started to show signs of receding around age 21... I'm 45 now and it has continued to recede gradually, but luckily it has been pretty slow... I keep it short, and you can tell it's receding, but it still hasn't really gotten to the point where shaving it all off is a must. I only share this for the really young guys who are worried that they're definitely going to be completely bald by 25 or 30... sometimes it doesn't go so fast. I'm not sure if not worrying about it actually helped, but I made up my mind not to let it bother me early on, and 25 years later I'm surprised I still have as much hair as I do.

@Buchinator127 күн бұрын
Legit, a lot of guys will complain about their hairline receding but they still have full density and it honestly does not look nearly as bad as they make it out to be. My "hairline" is technically still fine but I have so much diffuse thinning that you can immediately tell something is wrong, thinning is a hundred times worse than a receding hairline at least in the beginning stages of hair loss

Shave your facial hair. I think men tend to compensate for balding by growing out facial hair but women are far too keen to trick! If you really embrace your baldness, going clean shaven is the ultimate IDGAF and women will agree! I get sooo many more complements when I shave versus ‘making my jaw look bigger / Wolverine look’. Like I said, women are too smart fellas!!
