I guess the one upside with the increase in psychic activity throughout the Galaxy is they don't have to worry about the Golden throne running out of psykers to fuel it anymore They just have to worry about those very same pykers accidentally splitting the planet in half or something equally catastrophic like tearing a hole into the warp, spawning a daemon prince or something along those lines

I like to think the Emperor tried to make Thunder Warriors into Astartes but the survival rate was far to low and to costly to try. I base this on a couple of things. In the Horus Heresy novels there is a Thunder Warrior that kills a Luna Wolf for his geneseed, to prolong his life. Old people can become Astartes but the cost and survival rate isn't worth it. Astartes can become Primaris but again the cost and survival rate is so low.

That's only about the population of a single large hive world (the total number over 10000 years) or a handful of smaller ones. The yearly total isn't even the population of a single Hive on a single Hive world. Probably not even the population of a single lower hive sector. If Humans are good at anything in 40k, it is making more humans. Considering that we feed the souls of 3,650,000 low-grade psykers a year to the Emperor, or that we throw the lives of 14 million guardsmen away to take a single Departmento Munitorum supply world back from an apostate cardinal, or any of the countless other tragic wastes of human life throughout the 10 millenia since Horus had his emo phase, it really doesn't matter much. An inquisitor with hard lessons scored into his mind and body, who defies to darkness though he bears the scars of its touch. An Ollanius Pious who would stand before the greatest of our enemies without fear, or do everything in his power for just one more second. A friend of the unusual, the unexpected, and the unworthy. A detractor of those who preach piousness from golden alters while wearing silken robes. Someone who could find the amazing in the uncouth, the righteous in the enemy, the corruption in the holy, and the peace in old warriors. Throne, this was hard to listen to. Individually, they all tore at me a little bit. But all together, massed and distilled into… this… Heartbreaking. But in a brilliant, moving way. Thank you.

ho-ly shet. That last story was actually gut wrenching. Baldemort strikes again!

First reaction: "The Last Moot sent chills down my spine, I should say so in the comment section." Second reaction: "No, Thunderwarrior gripped me by my loyalty and masculinity, I should comment about that." Third reaction: "Nooo, poor psychic baby! You could have surpassed Mephiston and Tigurius, standing as a shining beacon for the protectors of mankind to rally behind!"

Listening to the first story gives me the urge to join the black legion this can't be what the emperor wanted for humanity

Oh this is great. The Imperium is certainly not my favorite faction but by far has my favorite stories. Can't wait to listen to this right now!

This was my first time hearing the Emperor’s origin from you. I had my fears about how you would handle the Emperor’s origin, but holy cow you did it so damn well that I’ve been converted to loving the shaman-merge theory. Absolutely adored the story- fantastic stuff, and made the tale far more meaningful and convincingly Emperor-like. Thank you, Uncle Baldy- as always, you have been a fantastic teacher :)
