Just finished my first playthrough last week and just recently started my 2nd playthrough as the dark urge lol. I cannot get enough of this game, game hasn’t had me in a chokehold like this in a long time, know this is almost a year late. But truly hope you enjoyed yourself

Oh, so that's what it's like when someone who doesn't know much about D&D mechanics gets really excited to play BG3. 😅 I'm not saying that to mock, I was genuinely curious to see how opaque the game might be. I feel like they ought to have explained at least key stats and the d20 system. But hey, as long as your initial confusion doesn't take away from your fun, that's all that matters :)

I nearly screamed with excitement when I saw the drow. If I wasn't so damn horrible at games on the computer I would be playing this immediately. Although the fact that this one is turn based may give me a chance. Either way I love the character you made and I'm super excited to see this playthrough! :)

It's come out on ps5 and it'll be coming out on xbox soon. If you don't like playing on computer there's those options. Also if you're using steam and disable steam input for controller you can play it like a consume game with a controller

Late response but play on Explorer or Custom. Explorer is easy mode and Custom can be suuuppeerr easy mode with stuff like infinite rests, more generous prices, etc.

I like that you take the time to read everything and learn what each character can do. A lot of streamers can't seem to grasp that concept. LoL! You did completely forget about your ranged weapons -- bows and crossbows -- in that last battle aboard the ship, though. 😄

Ok - popping in with some notes about the behind the scenes engine stuff..... Wrath of the Righteous is based on Pathfinder version 1 (I think - I know that the first one was definitely Pathfinder 1), which is fundamentally analogous to D&D 3.5 edition, the same basic ruleset used in Neverwinter Nights 2. This game uses D&D 5e rules (with a few minor changes to make it "work" on the computer, but some of those changes are being effectively back-ported into the D&D 5e ruleset. In a lot of ways, it's very similar to the 3.5 edition stuff, but streamlined in a lot of way, so instead of having to worry about a zillion modifiers to dice rolls, it's a lot quicker and easier. The biggest difference is the addition of the Advantage/Disadvantaged system, where you roll 2 dice, and then select the highest out of the two or the lowest, depending on which is used. The magic has been changed a bit to make the spells more.... impactful than the 3.5 ed stuff...... Right, still watching you make a monk over on that PC over there *points*, but wanted to give you some quick guidelines. Also - the Illithids are the Mind Flayers, and the Githyanki are the natural enemies of them. And yes, they are both "aliens", being races that exist between the planes (in Planescape type settings), or Spelljammer - if you ever had any exposure to that setting. Time for me to settle in and enjoy the mayhem!

I am having a blast with this game myself and I hope you will too! Some early game tips for you: 1) Speak with animals is a phenomenal spell that I encourage you to pick up. It adds SO much extra depth. 2) You’re probably not going to like all your party members. However, these are some well written characters who can change based on your interactions with them. Good people can become colder and evil ones can become kinder. So try and give everyone a chance. 3) Explore! This game is PACKED with stuff and there’s at LEAST a two hour segment people haven’t seen yet. 4) Pathfinder and D&D do have a lot of crossover in certain places. So you CAN go off of some of your foreknowledge. Some, being the operative word. 5) You CAN respec eventually. Have fun!

I'm nearly finished with this game myself, on the last boss but had to restart cause i died. After work, I'm going to beat the boss and then continue with a different character Warlocks are the most unique caster in the game. They tend to make deals with powerful beings to learn their magic, but they're by no means automatically bad people.

I don't think you will need to change your graphic settings too much during the first act, but after that, the chances of this becoming necessary, will definitely increase (alongside other issues). The following two acts have a lot more performance issues, than the one, which was available during EA.

I also almost missed Gale because i didn't want to touch the portal and only did once i realized it was a fast travel portal and figured i should go back and try to fix it.

Finally somene does not play the urge char. little tip, when you try to loot or pick up something the chest where your cursor is shows you if it is stealing, red chest means stealing. Another tip, when it come to dice roles like at 42:22, you see what kind of role you are gonna make in the text, if it shows dexterity you can put your mouse over the dexterity written in brackets and it shows you what bonuses to your dice role you get, so you can decide beforehand what stat you want to use for the dice role. Your class has an extra attack on the far right of the skillbar next to the end turn button, it apears after you did a normal attack. I hope these kind of tips are ok.

Yeah Dark Urge is great for a 2nd playthrough, so you can see how it's different from the normal. Apart from being absolutely whacko, chances are you'll discover the B or C versions of the stories...

You should fight that man...or at least try to daze him attacking with the Gythyanki and then using command drop from shadow heart while using your character to go stright to the other end just in case you need a quick get away but try to get that flaming sword it will make the first act much easier on you. Also should have walked to the bodys to loot them on your way through

The combat is perfectly fine. If you don’t like D&D style classic turn based RPG’s, just say that. Not everything needs to be a FromSoft style action RPG (which I also love btw).
