Meaningful choices...huh. Do you know why most choices in open-world games feels meaningless even when it changes the whole thing? Thats because world is passive. It never runs on its own. Its like flogging a dead horse. Only when the world itself is active on its own does your choices feel interesting. +) In skyrim, for example, factions win only when you take action. Lets face it, its just a chore. ... But what if, the factions actively fight each other with no scripts with or without you and win, while your actions could influence that small and big? Maybe if your good enough, you might save a person who ends up dying if left alone, that can stop the war or come up with another solution? World needs to be alive if you want choices to matter. Or its worthless. ++) scripted games doesnt have this problem as its more like an interactive movie. Whatever you do, world flows just as story flows when youre watching a movie.

I hate that blood mage isn't a thing, it's part of the lore and In tivinter, come on just let me blood mage it also adds to the argument that the tone has changed as they don't want you doing the edgy magic :/ just annoying

98% of us are totally fine with a map the size of oblivion or morrowind or Skyrim with the same density. Starfield proved you can make a game basically infinitely large and that contributes nothing to the quality of the game

I hope there will be a mod which extends the number of active skills from the screenshot at 7:10 I can imagine adding 4 extra slots without an issue, I don't understand why they limit active skills to 3 only it is such a bummer for RPG game, but because it is ARPG, just press more buttons don't overthink everything :)

5400x the size of Skyrim doesn't mean 5400x the content or world design of Skyrim. There is absolutely no way they are filling or designing this map to be comparable with Skyrim in any shape or form, and it kind of shows why AAA games don't do insane sizes like this, even at their staff size and budget. There is no way this indie team is making the map meaningful, and the only thing grand about it will be it's size, which is what they really mean. It's gonna be a normal RPG with a fucking massive map.

having a huge health bar is nice. I like having mines at just enough so one flask and I'm back at full hp almost. also u have rune arcs im sure pop one make that health bar bigger

I’m starting this series now that I’m at a point in your Let’s Play that has major content I haven’t seen yet. Can’t wait to see the evil options I (likely) will never do myself! By the way, I’m not sure if you mention it later but in the topic early on of karmic dice, another reason why a lot of people don’t use it is because it used to work for enemies too. So if you had a high AC and enemies missed you a lot, they would roll higher and higher until they could hit. And in a lot of cases, the only result they could roll to hit you was a natural 20.

Honest class limit suck alteady i never did like this idea they made rogue can use only daggers and bow warriors one hand weapon and shiled or two hand weapon coz i did realy enjoy way it was in DAO maybe combat system was not that good as it is now but damn i feel like with each game they limit ouer class skills more and more so far i dont know if i will even bother to try this game EA and bioware did disapoint people so much times that for now i dont see this as good game also i dont know why people still expect good games from EA wich is worst company that produce games i just wish all players show EA middle finger and stop buying they games so finaly they see that no one trust them anymore

I'm sure it's a stupid question, but why choose between partners? I never understood this in any game .Once you have to face hordes of enemies why would I take the whole team ? I'm the coolest daredevil and I only need two people to save the world.Why the hell do the others have to do all the little side missions?Although it looks like we are not bothered by many enemies, it looks more like a pub fight.

I hope people understand that this is just like Daggerfall. There's a procedurally generated world that is gigantic, which ends up meaning there's a LOT of empty space. The idea is to give the player the true feeling of travel between cities and towns and such, and that means a lot, and I mean a LOT of sightseeing of the same countryside. Keep that in mind.

This looks like an interesting game, and it seems like they're met their goal of $500,000. However, it seems that according to the stretch goals, the ultimate development of the games depends on it achieving $2,000,000... not $500,000. With only until June 29, 2024 to meet that ultimate goal, it doesn't look like they'll meet that. What happens to games like this that don't get the donations they need for development?

I was hoping (in vain though, admittedly) for Spirit healer, Shapeshifter to return, but that pretty much went out the window the moment I saw the gameplay lol (no shade, gameplay looks interesting, never played that kind of Action RPG I think, curious to try it out, but it obviously doesn't create gameplay that allows for the kind of tactical combat maining as a healing spec or shapeshifting spec would require to be kept interesting)

Fallout new vegas map is not too big, but it has tons of content - so when people make insanely large maps they have consider working on a lot of content into that area as people are used to good stuff now

I feel the only way to feasibly create an open world game with the scale of dagger fall will be to have 2 things. 1.) The help of AI to increase the manpower of the company in creating the amount of unique designs and content it’s hoping to have. 2.) A generation system similar to dwarf fortress that uses simple values to extrapolate world state without having to load it all the time. Then have the system be able to interpret that code and assign the proper assets and dialogue to the areas the player loads into. It would have to be a very simple system to efficiently keep track of everything in a large world without needing a super CPU to process the information client side. Otherwise you’ll get insane load times/turn times like mid-game/late-game total war games. I suggest functionally splitting the map into a large grid system where each grid has its own game state that is interpreted and determined by its neighboring grids over a period of game time. Then create the starting point for the world’s center of influence, preferably the initial location that the greatest world influence radiates from (I.e. the capital city of the strongest faction or group in the world). This will create a natural ripple in world events that effect the closest grid tiles the greatest and the fastest while the outskirts are slow to hear of the events that happened on the other side of the world and are minimally effected. An additional benefit of this system is that it will limit the amount of world states it has to update at one time, improving performance, at the same time it will naturally allow for power shifts and thus changes to the worlds center of influence. I think the graphics will have to be reduced and/or stylized to further help reduce processing burden. Final thing I could think of is that if they went for a semi multiplayer experience they could house a super server that does the calculations for world state but allow each grid to have its own instance of multiplayer if the world will be as massive as daggerfall you could have thousands of players and still never meet anyone. This would allow for much of the processing power to be shouldered by the server and free up individual player computers to process things like graphics and the game state of the grid they’re in.
