@@Fazolive Really hoping you'll keep playing BG3. I played this after Cyberpunk 2077, and I was surprised by how hooked it got me. I ended up with 500 hours as of yesterday 😅 (3 custom Tav playthroughs, 2 Dark Origin runs, 1 Bard!Astarion run) My best advice is to not worry about missing things or making mistakes the first run. This game is HUGE, it's designed to be variable enough so that different runs can play out and feel like a brand new game. Even with 100s of hours under my belt I still keep finding new ways to play or areas of the map I've missed. It actually is rewarding in a sense, if you miss something your first couple of runs and it comes in clench on a higher difficulty (I found a shortcut my honor mode run that I completely overlooked on easier difficulties, it felt great 😆) As far as combat goes, it's equal parts RNG and strategy. There are things you can do to increase your odds for good rolls (archers benefit from high ground, rogues benefit from shadows - mages with obscuring spells like fog and darkness can work as buffers for rogues, magic can be crazy op - play around with how different elements play with and against each other - cast ice on someone burning or fire on someone chilled for example. Monk is a great beginner class, but also most Charisma classes are extremely beginner friendly (since most of the game hinges on making friends and influencing people, Bards, Sorcerers, and Warlocks can feel overpowered. By act 2 you can literally get away from boss fights TELLING the bosses to kill themselves. and. they. will.)

You should absolutely keep playing this game! It's got a bit of a learning curve, but it's so worth it. Just remember to look at everything, talk to everybody and it'll start to make sense. Take your time and explore everywhere! You can't really make a mistake, but your choices will radically change the story.

“We’re gonna try something different and go with Elf.” Picks the most played race 😂 Don’t worry about it, just play which race/class looks most fun to you. They’re all perfectly good for just about everything except maybe honour mode challenge runs. So, for in combat, the bar along the bottom is your resource pool. For monk, ki is the resource used for monk-specific things like your flurry of blows ability. The green ones cost your action point, the orange ones cost your bonus action point. The yellow one is how far you can move per turn, which is set to meters by default but can be changed to feet if you prefer. You get action/bonus action/movement points every turn, but your ki points only refresh when you use a short rest in your R2 wheel or long rest at camp, which can also be found in the R2 wheel. Also, there’s a setting to change the triangle to end turn from a press to a hold. Aside from that, if you have another character next in the turn order, you can actually press L2 to change characters back to the first one and press triangle again to take the rest of their turn back.

There's the traditional Table Top RPG (TTRPG) and what you're playing now, the Computer RPG or CRPG, but it's kinda old-fashioned to call it that. BG3 is one of the best and newest CRPGs, but there's a bunch out there, like the Wasteland series, it's like this game's play with a Fallout-like flavor. Balder's Gate 3's such a great way to learn though.

@0rbital_nugget1882 ай бұрын
Damn, from Cyberpunk to Baldur's Gate? You got good taste bro. I bought this game when it was in early early access lol. Can't wait to see how your playthrough goes. Not only do the choices matter more in this game, but there's a good chance to fail some things due to how the game is (die rolls) So if things don't go as you expected, just keep rolling with it. Some rolls happen in the background, like when the icon popped up on the top left at 15:08 If your inventory is full, you can send things to camp, where there's a chest that holds everything you send. Each round of combat, you have 3 things you can do. Movement, which includes jumping. Actions, like attacking, using an ability, picking up weapons, or casting spells. And Bonus Actions, like drinking potions, casting some spells, and actions like Disengage (let's you move away from an enemy without getting attacked) Dash (Doubles movement) and Shove, the most overpowered ability in this game. Shoving people off cliffs is a good way to get rid of enemies. You're a monk and they're agile af. So use the terrain to your advantage. That includes liquids on the ground. Oils and volatile fluids are flammable, water can conduct electricity, and burning ground will hurt you. Healing is a bit strange. You can use healing potions and spells, but those are limited. You mainly heal with short rests and long rests. You get 2 short rests but they don't heal you all the way and only restore the use of some spells. Long rests restores everything but effectively ends the day. If you don't have enough movement to get somewhere, you can sometimes jump to that location at the cost of less movement. Those tentacle-mouthed creatures in the beginning are mind flayers. Absolutely terrifying. They captured you all to turn you into mind flayers, as that's how they reproduce, but the dragons and their riders partially destroyed the ship, allowing y'all to escape. If you can manage to kill that devil with the flaming sword, you can take his weapons. It's really good, but as a monk, you won't be able to use it without picking the right feat in a few levels. In Lae'zel's hands, its devastating.

The game is worth every penny. Multiple replayable with multiple outcomes depending on your decisions you make in the game. Also clearing situations in combat has multiple different ways, I saw people doing things in combat I could never ever imagine in my wildest dreams that this what they have done is possible and works. According to what I just said = One tip I will give you..The flaming two handed sword which the Devil commander swings against that Mindflayer is easy to get...Shadowheart has a spell in her spellbook which you have to activate before entering the helm named "command" (during combat you can´t switch spells from the spellbook)..with that spell she can command the Devil to drop his sword which then can be picked up from the floor while just passing by.= Very nice weapon for Leazel or any weapon fighter in your party for the early levels. And before taking a healing potion outside of combat take a short rest in order to heal..you have 2 short rests per day then you have to take a long rest in order to reactivate your spell slots or in case of a Monk your Ki-points and those 2 short rests. And during long rest you also have to interact with your companions in order to get to know them better which matters according to their approval rate scale which you want to have high. And yes on PC everything is way more neatly arranged in order to play from the get go...but to play with gamepad is just a question of how long it takes till getting familiar with what the buttons do

you should buy it dude. can tell by the expression on your face you found it pretty cool. it's a long ass game, but I've beaten it and it never got old for me. my only suggestion is not listening to anyone else for your first play through... just take your time and make a character you truly vibe with and play it on balanced. that way you can really make no wrong choices as far as being able to beat it, and since you are playing something you truly vibe with you will 100% have a blast since the game shapes itself around the character you are vibing with. if you end up doing another playthrough on a more difficult setting THAT is when you listen to advice from the community.
@niksnap2 ай бұрын
Cool to see a new person checking out BG3. Just a small advice: game is filled with staff and lore, cutscenes and choices. Optimal way to approach it is to do "how you feel it is right to do". Don't hesitate to really role-play your character in dialogs. Also it would be rewarded if you'll be able to take a time to figure out the interface and how to manage characters (I mean, what does the main action and bonus action mean, etc.). Above all else, be mindful of your choices in game (especially dialogs), cause in BG3 (unlike in Cyberpunk) each second line in a dialog can turn the tables and might lead to an immediate outcome or to minor or very significant changes in your future adventure. I say that as a person with 600+ hours in both of these games ^^ Have fun! And waiting for upcoming episodes :)

BG3 is a dope game and if you buy it and do a full playthrough I seriously recommend doing the Dark Urge origin first. It's an origin character but it's fully customizable so you can play as any race or class same as a custom character, it just has campaign long quest tied to the character where you make certain decisions along the way. Dark Urge has a strong tie in to the main story and imo is the best way to experience the campaign for the first time alongside learning what the Dark Urge is. Also, next major patch for BG3 should be coming this month and official mod support is coming to consoles too.

@omnizenn45592 ай бұрын
@@lekillerfou I recommend Dark Urge because that origin has direct ties to the story versus Tav that's more roleplay oriented, if that makes sense. With Dark Urge, you have your own story unfold alongside the companions with their sidequests and narratively it just feels like all the characters, including your own character, grows throughout the story when you play Dark Urge while Tav is more of an outsider observing everyone else's stories.
@omnizenn45592 ай бұрын
@@Fazolive The Origin characters are basically like the main characters and have questlines, while Tav(Tav is the default custom player name), the start you chose, doesn't. Dark Urge specifically was originally the player's main character that also doubled as a custom character, but instead they made it so that Tav is basically a blank canvas for those that mainly want to roleplay their own backgrounds since Dark Urge has a story tied to it(though you can still roleplay if you choose that Origin). Btw, in the character creation menu all the origin characters have a little speech they give to introduce you to them and give a hint of their story. If you buy the game you should listen to them.

As you asked, yeah, this game is part of Dungeons and Dragons (D&D). D&D is the game itself (the game concept and rules, although there are several versions of D&D over the decades), the setting (the world, the people, the stories, the artifacts, the countries, the famous characters, etc.) is Forgotten Realms. The first two Baldur's Gates games were released a very long time ago, but you don't need to play them to enjoy this game. The rules of Baldur's Gate 3 are a little different from normal D&D games (they added some stuff and changed a couple things), but it's still pretty similar. And yeah, D&D is normally a tabletop role-playing game; not quite a board game, because technically you don't even need a board to play. You can play D&D with just some dice, a pencil and paper, and your words, or you can make it more tactical by adding in maps and tokens. If you ever do play the tabletop game, there's no right or wrong way to do it, and it's not really about "winning;" in fact, it's better not to get to attached to a single idea of what the game should be, since the people you play with might have different ideas, especially your DM (dungeon master; basically the equivalent to the narrator you hear speaking in this game). But it's a lot of fun. Anyway, hope you enjoy! Just like D&D, there's not necessarily a right or wrong way to play this game.

Baldur's Gate III really is one of those games that just plays better on a PC with a keyboard and mouse setup. The game controller system controls make it way too easy to accidentally do things you don't mean to, make the display clunkier and harder to use. It has too many complicated controls, buttons and options that all need to be displayed simultaneously to work efficiently and intuitively with a game controller UI. Being able to mouse over (hover on) buttons to read the description of what they do is so unbelievably helpful.

Also finding out things like how to get that demon's sword is really fun, like if you change the elf girl's spells she has one that can make someone drop an item then you can just pick it up.

my best advice to give when playing this game is, problem solve like real life, the game is wayyy more open than you expect a game to be, and you have alooot more freedom to mess up. the game does not hold your hand or keep you in a safety box like other games.

Loving your reaction so far! The game can be super confusing so don’t feel bad for not knowing what’s going on. Also, not sure if you’re playing console or pc, but if on PC recommend using the keyboard/mouse combo as it’s a lot easier to navigate

First time took me 500 hours. Hopeefully you rock with it! It's challenging at first if you're not used to tactical RPGs, but maaaan it gets addicting the longer you stay with it. Especially the characters backstories. I don't think I ever CARED so much about how my party members were doing in a game. Like, fr, they feel like family by the end.

Just some tips (I'm only halfway through the video, so apologies if you figured this out already) The yellow bar at the bottom is your movement. If you want to move closer as a major action, click the feet with wings in your attack wheel. Take your time and look through the attack wheel and check the damage for each attack. It takes some getting used to but you will get it. I kept ending my turn all the time by accident. Part of the learning process. I hope you get the full game!

The lore is DnD lore. You wouldn't spoil anything if you read up on DnD lore or watched videos about it because this game has its own unique story.
@djokealtena25382 ай бұрын
If you are familiar with DnD mechanics you'll get this game pretty quickly. And you can multiclass, meaning you can mix more classes as you level up, but you need to do so when you've gained what you wanted from the classes. Your stats are key here. And sadly no, you cannot ride Dragons as far as I know the dragonwarden subclass that exists in the dnd books (extra stuff) isn't in here. But don't let that stop you, this game allows you to pull shennanigans that other games wouldn't dream off. Be creative, explore, investigate and make damn sure you save often. Just incase you accidentally mess up. Your companions also have skills you can use to help you with your rolls. If you want I can give you a few tips, but I only will do so if you want them, I don't want to backseat and ruin your experience.

@@Fazolive All right. I'll give you a quick explanation into the basic dnd stuff so you can be a little more prepped should you attempt to buy and further play it. Whilst BG3 is dnd based, it has made some minor alterations to suit its gameplay, but if you wanna go deeper into your Monk's abilities take a look at the Monk builds here on YT. Just type in BG3 Monk build and you'll get told exactly what to look for and choose. Sometimes even level for level. But that is if you want it. If you wish to explore more don't be afraid to try stuff out, just make sure you save before. Basics: You have your character and decided on your race and class, these gives you certain benefits and also limitations as they effect your character: stuff like your high elf grants you the spell firebolt (cantrip) and your Monk is what is known as a Dex based character. Wisdom will be your second highest stat if you follow the in game standard point scores and didn't change the stats yourself. These stats affect not only the armour or weapons you can use without penalties (disadvantage) but also the Skills you have and use throughout the game; You see these when you do dice rolls you get the +1,-1 ect. Skills such as Persuasion, Insight, Investigate, ect. If you want I can give you a cheatsheet to use as I don't know if console players get to see them, which we pc players do if we hover the mouse over the sentence/option. You can also get extra bonusses for your skill rolls through your companions; Shadowheart has access to the spell 'Guidance' let her cast it before you engage potential conversation and it will roll a d4 (meaning you can get a +1,2,3 or 4) added to your roll, make sure you activate it by selecting it before the roll. I also think Gale can get the spell too. But you'll have to check if they are selected as spells. TURN: Once into combat you have your Turn which exists out of an Action, a Bonusaction and Movement (usually 30ft). These can be shifted up in order as you've seen and sometimes that is to your benefit. For example knocking your opponent out, takes them out of combat for a while, which means you can then move freely without triggering an Opportunity Attack if your enemy is next to you. I know Laezel has pommelstrike which does the same (as I haven't played Monk yet) A Downed or Prone enemy is a weaker enemy and easier to hit as they need to be helped or get up first. Which reminds me as you have seen you or your companions can help eachother up, in combat though this costs you your action, be mindful of that. Just toss a potion if you can that is usually more usefull and heals them somewhat, instead of getting up with 1 hp. You can also Dash, which is basically move twice, but it uses up either an action or bonusaction you'll have to select it in the wheel. Push or Toss is another fun one. Again it will take an Action and potentially cost you your loot, but certain enemies can be pushed down or away or tossed of a ledge. Spells and such use spell slots. Your casters have a limited number that will increase as they level up. Lvl3 spells obviously will be more powerful than cantrips, but cantrips are can always be used there is no limit to them. Unless you are Silenced, but we'll come to that later. Situations: You don't always have to fight, sometimes you can go around find a hidden entry and sneak your way in. Find a brittle wall? Break it down, or if possible talk your way in with either persuasion, intimidation or deception, BE MINDFUL OF TRAPS, when you enter an area your Perception will be triggered, (a hidden roll) if yours doesn't spot the trap, maybe one of your companions can. Speaking of hidden rolls, those are to speed up the game, it rolls for your success on a swing for example but also does so for your enemies or other individual you might encounter. You'll see a Successfull or Miss or Failed appear. That is what those refer to. If you can use speak to animals it will give you different options and all animals have dialogue, you just have to be able to understand them either through spell or potions. Now from what I've spotted from your gameplay you innocently run up to things. TIP 1: Use the minimap or camera more. You can zoom in and out, scan a little a head of your party and rotate it. Crouch or 'Hide' as it is known in DND and you will be able to sneak up or past people/creatures and see their range of sight. You will also see your visibility (potential discovery) with another icon whether you stand in the light or in shadow. Tip 2: Surface damage. Do not run or move through fire or acid or water or oil or anything that a spell or flask could have effect on. You will receive the status effect burning which will last several turns. Go around or jump over it. Naturally what hurts you can also hurt your enemies. If you have a burning surface next to you dip your weapon in it and it now deals additional fire damage. Look out for barrels of potential burning or watery substance, a nice fire bolt and your enemies either go boom or go wet and have your spellcaster zap them or create a slippery surface. TIP 3: Look at your turn order and what you can you with your & your companions actions and bonus actions and who follows who in turn. If you are last and Gale is ahead of you let him cast grease for example on the enemy's area or in front of them so they have to move through it. Grease is slippery so the enemies can fall down and is flammable. What do you have? oh firebolt! Burn the bastard and if there is more than one in the grease, bingo! TIP 4: RESTING; when you go to camp you go and rest, its where you heal up, have dinner and are able to talk and change the companions of your party. You go into camp by clicking on the campfire icon of one of your wheels I believe ( I play on pc, so mine are displayed slightly different.) And inside the camp you can click on the campfire to progress and ultimately get back to where you were last time you left. If you use the waypoints, they travel to those. You have long rests and short rests for longrests you go to camp, but short rests can be done where you are at. Be mindful of what is more usefull. You mind need your longrests more in the beginning. As far as I know there are no penalties with resting too much so don't fret about that. Combat: Be smart Have the High Ground. Keep out of range or sight when possible, so you force them to move. Be strategic check your surroundings, did you see that large Block hanging above the temple sight? What would happen if you approach from another area? Potentially be able to shoot it down? See opportunities, experiment, try combinations or find ways around. There is no real hand holding, true but there also isn't much that cannot be achieved when you think creatively. BUT don't play a Durge playthrough yet as it is a somewhat different from your general playthrough and as the developer stated it gives the story an entirely different twist. So save that for later. Now I think I have probably talked long enough. You'll get a subclass at level 3 and ki points as a Monk use always use up your all of your actions if you can, but be more mindfull of spellpoints, ki points and spellslots, those usually only come back after a long rest. Have fun!

Hello adventurer! I'm new here but I've watched a lot of BG3 content. I want you to know there are NO WRONG CHOICES! Play how you want to play! I do want to let you know that you'll want to check in with your companions as they will have dialogue every now and again in and out of camp. When you take regular breaks at camp - especially a long rest there are events / cut scenes that occur that you could miss out on.... but if you're okay with missing out on that stuff that is totally okay! Again play how you want and have fun! (p.s. Consider me a new Subscriber! Looking forward to seeing how your journey unfolds!)
