Yeah fam this game has TONS of secrets. You can definitely be evil and go alone (especially on a "Dark Urge" playthrough), but for your first playthrough I highly recommend helping all your companions do their quests. They add so much content to the game. Its insane. Most of your companions will learn from you especially if they like you. So you can steer them to be more evil or more good. Theres a lot more to their stories, but you can help them decide when its time for yall to make those decisions

Wanted to add, don’t hesitate to short rest/ long rest often. The game won’t punish you for it and when there’s something time sensitive happening the game will tell you (promise). But long rests trigger dialogue scenes that are story relevant and/or advance the companions quests (especially in the beginning). I also recommend speaking to your companions at camp even when they don’t have an exclamation mark, sometimes they have something to say about the things happening in the story or other companions. Been really enjoying your videos, I will never get tired of seeing people fall in love with this game!

I hate to spell it all out....Jump behind the statue. Pick up the paper with the prayer on it. Read the prayer while standing over the chest. And you should be able to open the chest. LOL take it easy on Astarion. He isn't all bad. Plus, he is a really useful companion.

FYI - Astarion as a Rogue can pick locks and disarm traps. Or you can jump your team over the traps. You can unlink Astarion and have him go into places first, to disarm all traps before you let your team go in.

Some spells can be cast outside combat. Gale’s find familiar which gives you a pet (the spider is probably most useful) and longstrider which increases your movement range in combat. And the spells last until your next long rest. I got pretty overwhelmed by the spells at first but I would highly recommend saving your game in camp and then testing your spells on Withers as he doesn’t aggro or die - just to get a feel for what everything does. I can see you’re desperate to use the sneak attack, but you need to be hiding first - this is what gives you advantage. Well done for remembering the horn btw. I forgot I had it and carried it around with me right to the end of the game 🙈

Not exactly need to be hiding. You just need to have an advantage over the target. Target is threatened because an enemy is near them, they're blinded because a fog cloud has been cast on them, they are prone because a monk with a huge staff toppled them down etc.

Just posting this since u seemed so hesitant to tell Astarion no. Don’t worry too much about using the less flattery and sometimes more assholery dialogue options, you gotta say some wild shit and hit a nerve to get people to hate or attack you. Especially with your companions there is little risk in just being a bit rude or tongue in cheek.

You've just got to use your intuition. I've got a favourite example of being a little bit of an asshole with Astarion and he actually approves (as well as when you do theactually flattering option). If you do tank a companion's approval with a lot of decisions, just make sure you talk to them every long rest and find ways to appeal to them. That's a good practice in general. Remember we've all been in your place before - you're not playing wrong, just learning the ropes.

Don't worry about the Gloves of Power. Those items that say "Absolute this" or "blank of the Absolution" require a brand to be placed on you to work properly. I refused the brand, personally.

If you’re low on health potions use Shadowheart to heal your party members or take a short rest to heal them up

If you jump behind that statue and pass the perception check, there'll be a note on the ground you can pick up. Read the note in front of the chest with anyone but Shadowheart and it'll open. Shadowheart won't open it because she prays to moon goddesses rival, Shar. To open the book, you have to jump down the well and defeat the beast. The gem it drops is the key. 1:05:42 what, Fazo, you think all ogres look the same. Lmao jk Its better to have Asterion disable traps and pick locks. He gets a lot more bonuses that make it easier for him to succeed. remember, you can throw healing potions. Turn undead just makes any undead creatures turn around and run away from you/your cleric's divine magic. It won't work against anything else. Volothamp 'Volo' Geddarm is a wizard in Dnd lore, but in this game he's a bard for some reason. In either case, he's not a very good bard and his wizardry is useless, and yet he's a man of literal legendary proportions, lmao. The Dnd source books, Volo's Guide to Monsters, All Things Magical and other titles are written by him in the lore. You made me restart a BG3 playthrough lol. I'm playing a drow shadow monk. Idk if I want to be evil or not though.

I just want to say, don't feel the need to apologize for exploring or deviating from the main objective. The best way to experience this game is to do it raw for lack of a better word. Do anything that feels right to you, select the dialogue that feels right to you, and live with your choices, even the failures. It is obviously no problem at all to load if you think you got a result out of something you as a player misunderstood, but otherwise really try to live with your choices. Even with bad outcomes the consequences feel satisfying narratively, and can also add a lot of replay value for more playthroughs. If your really stick to your character and their choices the game will continue to surprise you.

Reload if you don't like something! We are along with you! And I am so here for the longer vids. I just sat through all four already posted tonight. i know you're much past this part but, dude, the fun of this game is doing it your way. Reload saves when you want to, and roll with the punches when you want to. Thats what gives this style of game the replay ability

Idk if you know but astarion is a huge dmg dealer as rogue if he hides from vision cones then uses sneak attack

Not sure if you have got this one yet but a MASSIVE tip I learnt was that you can use an action throw a health potion at a downed companion (Go into inventory and in the options you can throw the item, make sure when aiming they have a blue outline/circle around as you have to actually hit them) which acts as insta rez, once you start saving bigger healing potions in your inventory it saved my arse so many times. Also Shadowheart as a healer is massive, potent attack and healing factors

Also Area of Effect (AoE) spells can be super useful early game, cloud of daggers, acid, even summon grease, etc can really flip a fight.

Just edvice. when dealing with Traps do not take everyone with you to the trap. separate from the party so if you don't have any room around the trap your group will not Explode it before you disarm it. You do not need to keep everyone together, sometimes you need to take them through One at a Time then regroup.

28:54 Both for 10 turns normally, but Astarion's lasts forever since he's an Arcane Trickster. You can use them to throw stuff from the ground for example, since their basic damage is pretty low.

I have played through this game 3 times and I have never seen that hilariously convoluted way that Gale asks to be brought back. I'd much rather just pay Withers the 200 gold 😂 Just goes to show you how much you can discover on each playthrough.

Hey, sorry I'm an episode late. My tip for this video is to pay attention the blue slots in the UI that show you how many spell slots your spellscasters (Gale and Shadowheart) have of each level. They refill every long rest. If you use all of them in one fight you'll either have to long rest again (this consumes food) or make do without them.
