The whole "portent die" thing that Gale has as a divination wizard basically allows you to change the roll you or the enemy does (the game follows DND, which is based on RNG/rolling the dice to see if it hits + damage), lore wise its pretty much like looking into the future and changing what happens. You'll understand the combat mechanics more and more you play it

Dude, I have almost 1000h on this game, finished honour mode, even now going on my sixth run, I have never read Kagha mind and use the info to convince her to release Arabella; I have always persuaded her. There is something truly sinister about sparing the life of a tiefling child just so she can spread the good words of Kagha so called mercy, an angle to her character I have never seen before. Until now, there are fights that I still haven't done, choices that I haven't made and classes I still haven't played. This game is truly a once in a lifetime experience! It's always a pleasure to see new players enjoying the game, even though its learning curve can be daunting.

to answer if you can have a wolf as a companion is yes you can. You need to choose the ranger class and select beastmaster as its focus and you will get a permanent animal companion of your choosing

I’m so excited to watch u explore the game! I wouldn’t worry time wise about talking to everyone, looting everything, reading everything. Sometimes the most basic looking NPCs have a bigger quest line! It’s a big game for that reason. The grove has so many characters and mini quests if you talk to more people. Loot, talk, and read away u will learn a lot that way :)! Also anything u don’t want that u looted u can always sell to a trader. I play this game with my friend and she loots anything that she can 😂, I usually end up selling all the rotten food and broken weapons.

Glad to see you enjoying the game broski! Just some tips: 1. An easier way to pick stuff up around you is by holding the X button (on Ps5), then it will tell you everything around you that you can pickup. Also i think holding L3 or R3 will say the names of all the items on the ground. 2. For healing, you can only heal through "short rests" and spells (or special items). The food is for your "Long Rest" which you want to do often since there's story bits in there too. After a long rest, youll be fully restored.

When playing astarion you want to hide using a bonus action (orange) then use a sneak attack(green)

Yeah, and if the enemy is standing next to one of your characters you can also perform a sneak attack without being hidden.

Astarion can also dual-wield a pair of daggers - gives him an additional off-hand attack. Look for hand-crossbows, these can be dual-wielded too. In order to perform a sneak attack you need to have _advantage_ over your opponent. Advantage can be gained by successfully hiding or moving a companion next to the opponent or having _high ground_ or a Combination thereof

I usually run Astarion with two shortswords and a shortbow. The default subclass is arcane rogue but I like to make him an assassin rogue.

I never bother using hide (I always run Astarion 5 gloom stalk 3 rogue 4 battle master) and he still clears a room with ease xD bow builds are too broken man

You are doing great so far. I am happy to see someone take this game slow and enjoy letting the story and all the characters unfold. Battles are fun, but the story is also important. Lots' of twists and turns. Being a monk is also one of most enjoyable classes. Straight up punching foes lights out is very satisfying. FYI - Any lighting gloves you may find, will add lightening strikes to your punches.

Keep going! The game is amazing. The story is kinda slow burn, you will learn more about the Absolute and your companion's stories in the right time. But it makes it so much more interesting - when you finally discover what is going on with these mind flayers, tadpoles, etc, it will blow your mind! Making mistakes during a battle is actually fine, that's how you learn, even if it hurts sometimes. 🙂Some small tips: Astarion can have two weapons in each hand, it makes him more sufficient. Also - you can use a sneak attack with Astarion if you're hidden or your ally is close to the target. There are some other ways to have advantage (required for sneak attacks) like blinding the enemy etc. About Gale and Shadowheart: some spells require concentration, like Cloud of Daggers. You can end concentration any time you want if it's no longer needed. But enemies can also break your concentration by attacking you, so be careful.

Loved the epsiode! Also: You killed the Owlbear cub! Noooooooooo! 😅 You have the _Speak with Animals_ Spell so you should use it once in a while! Good thing: once casted it will last until the next Long Rest. Same applies to the _Speak with Dead_ spell (provided by the amulett you're wearing) 😉

Everything in this game is based on die rolls, when you attack there is a die roll you don't see. It's a d20 ( a 20 sided dice) plus whatever modifier your class uses. For example if you have a strength based character with a +3 to str (every 2 points above 10 in an attribute equals a +1 bonus, so a character with 16 str gets +3). If you are fighting a creature with an armor class AC of 18 , that is the target you need to get to hit it. So if you roll a 12 on the die and add your +3 str bonus you get a 15. That's a miss. If you rolled a 15 , it would be a hit. There are things that can help increase your chances , like the bless spell, and some weapons add a bonus to the attack. There is also advantage and disadvantage. Advantage means you roll 2 dice and get to use the better of the 2 results. Disadvantage means you roll 2 and use the worse of the 2. Hope that helps

Yo sick, another episode! My tip for the video: (not sure if you figured this out already, I haven't finish watching yet) if you attack from high ground you actually have better accuracy. And the opposite is true for attacking from low ground. (Bonus tip: you can also throw weapons, just make sure they have the label "thrown" on them (spears, javelins, daggers, hand axes, etc)

Idk how to do it with a controller but when you press shift it will show you everyone’s line of sight. You need to hide in an area outside of it and then do the sneak attack. It also helps if you’re trying to steal stuff lol.

Also, if you examine enemies you can see what they’re immune m, resistant, or vulnerable to. And you could have gotten the owlbear cub as a pet in your camp if you didn’t murder it lmao

And one more thing (sorry I keep commenting as I’m watching lol) The circle of knows that kept hurting you? If you have Gale cast a different concentration spell, it will break his concentration on that one and the knives will go away.

Find the doggy. Since you killed the poor owlbear cub and Us, you should at least get the doggy as pet. Also I think its expedious retreat (spell) you can make Gale move more as a bonus action. Also as for the Owlbear Egg: DO NOT SELL IT YET. DO NOT EAT IT. It can be used in a later quest, when you meet a certain person looking for an egg. It will be in your food inventory, so be very careful to make sure you don't select it for rests at camp.

@@Fazolive well otherwise you'll save it in another playthrough, you can still do the quest even without the egg, it is optional. Also as a heads up: have a care when you enter the upcoming village. Save yourself a lot of hassle, use your camera's to look ahead and scout the surrounding area before entering. Stick to the shadows and out their line of sight. I'll not spoil anything further, but hint: 'look up'. Make sure you have the 'High ground'. If you're going to be spotted, otherwise they'll get advantage on their dice-roles.

@@Fazolive ah sorry, saw it appear I'll watch it in a moment. Also I don't think you did use it, from the first bit of your video, I think it preselected the bagpack which holds the standard 40, but I saw it in there the food inventory, so you should still have it. I tend to select stuff myself so I don't have to fear of the game automatically selecting stuff I don't want to. Also when truly heartbroken or disagreeing with an outcome, savescum (meaning load up an older save) we've all done it at one point or another. Also another nice spell is sanctuary, if you time it right, you can protect a vunerable character. That character can't attack though otherwise the spell is broken, but it has come in clutch at times, when your healing potions have run out and the enemies are tough. Also I tend to subclass Astarion as an Assassin, if he is hidden and has advantage his first shot often resulted in one-shotting the enemy at lower levels. Loved the hell out of it. He was my scout.

1:39:06 They won't jump if they don't have a safe way to. You took damage from the jump, they are not willing to do the same, unless you manually make them to.

If i remember correctly, the direction buttons are shortcuts. I think you can press "UP" (or was it down?) on the direction pad to quickly access jump as a shortcut btw. Instead of going to the wheel each time Edit: holy typos

You can also hold L3 or R3 (I forget which one) the highlight in the area any bodies/items that you may be interested in looting/picking up/stealing (stealthily hopefully)

Also, if you wanna continue using cloud of daggers, it is a very powerful and useful skill that requires your character to maintain his "concentration" to stay active. It will always automatically end after 10 turns (60 seconds) too. If you wanna end the clouds early, you can end your concentration by opening up the wheel and holding triangle iirc

Also, if you’re given the option to ask a character to go to your camp, that means that they are a companion. So when Wyll said “your party is full” you can switch him with one of your companions and they’ll meet you at camp, or you can tell Wyll to go to camp and you can have him join you whenever you want.

Love the episode :) Haven't watched the new one you posted yet, because I wanna play BG3 now haha! Just a heads up, you can always unlock a chest you find. Aside from lock-picking, the key will be either laying around somewhere, the key could be some words you read on a piece of paper (if you pass a skill check) or you can use the spell Knock but only if the chest isn't locked by magic.

If you're curious on how to open the chest at 1:41:42 -- Try jumping past the chest where the statue is. Go behind the statue and youll find a prayer sheet on the ground. Pickup the paper. Then go back in front of the chest. Read the prayer sheet. And the chest will open.

I was just surprised because your character is so kind and aang-like, and then after the cub got attacked it got the “frightened” condition and it broke my heart 💔 if you aren’t sure if someone/something is good or bad you can always switch to non-lethal attacks. But remember it only works when you use melee attacks. I’m really enjoying watching your play through and have subscribed! I’m excited to see who you choose to romance 😏😆

If you use the middle column in your inventory you won’t need to scroll through all the items. So for example if you highlight rings, it will show all the rings you can equip. Makes it so much easier to change yours and your companions weapons and armour. Also can’t believe you killed the owlbear cub 😢😂

I've seen quite a few 1st time BG3 players either completely overlook Us, or kill him outright... just bear in mind that there are more recruitable NPCs in this game than you may realize :D keep going with your BG3 adventure... I'm almost 50yo and have been playing video games since the eighties... and it's not a stretch to say this is the best damn video game I've ever played (and I've played some games for over 15yrs... like WoW)
