Yeah, so my feelings are similar to yours after trying it out myself today, after my PS5 Pro was delivered this morning :) I have a 100" screen (a UST projector), and I play primarily with my partner in splitscreen co-op, so I was super excited to see in their Pro patch announcement that performance mode now works in splitscreen. I definitely can tell the difference in picture quality between the two modes, however, the increase in graphical quality just doesn't overcome the huge improvement playing in 60fps has. So after checking a bunch of different scenes, especially focusing on dialogues, I'm sticking with the performance mode. PSSR is surprisingly good at adding detail and making the image appear like 4K! When I will be playing by myself, I may switch to the quality mode, as generally I am playing in a more relaxed manner and feeling the game work more slowly doesn't bother me as much.

Can you start listing the framerates in the still shots. LIke I get that performance on the ps5 pro is like the fidelity on the ps5, but without framerates, we literally don't get to see the improvement since they look almost the same. Everything from 2 minutes to 6 minutes is just staring at 2 nearly identical pictures.

@6:20 can someone with eagle eyes show me what is better in this picture. When looking for differences the only thing I noticed at all is the wood inside the wheel seems to have more detail, in the regular PS5 version lol. You can see more horizontal wood grain lines on the wood, the texture on the pro version is softer. That's nitpicking, literally and almost everything else is identical. Diminishing returns is very real here.

Bro Not everybody has a high end CPU and it's not fair to compare console demographics with PCs, as console owners only spend little cash for their system. The base PS5 performance is great for what its worth. Still the ps5 pro ain't worth the asked price. Better off spending a bit more, build a 950ish PC with 5700x3d. But then again, 5700x3d still won't deliver 60 fps in this game at all times. Then I would suggest using lossless scaling frame gen. Works wonders in this game. Hence, why PC is the true pro gaming platform.

Off topic but I would strongly recommend LS frame gen in this type of game. I used X2 from 30 fps to achieve 60 and latency didn't bother me one bit.

Looks good to me. Performance mode looks excellent, and some frame drops in that heavily populated area are expected. Once out of the densely populated area, it seems a fairly rock solid 60. In any case, without the counter on screen and VRR enabled, I think it’d be very difficult to notice those drops. This seems like a great upgrade for anyone whose TV has the requisite VRR tech. Very happy so far with my Pro. Also, a Silent Hill 2 video would be great, once Bloober get around to actually providing the patch of course 👍🏻

@@wizardd And what do you want? 30 fps mode will have better graphics settings on pro. Also for excellent real time lightning hardware ray tracing is not needed at all. Look at lumen or Demons Souls. Ray reconstruction for rteflections is good.

High-end PC is 100-130fps in act 3 since the game has been patched. A modern PC CPU is 3x the performance of the CPU in the Pro (probably much more if you could force really CPU bound situations on console) but most stuff isn't nearly as CPU bound to hit even 60fps so it's just the difference between 60fps and 180fps normally.

Can you please test Dragons Dogma 2 because in the PS5 PRO enhanced version LFC(VRR low frame rate compensation)is not working at all.Every time framerate goes below the VRR range(48 fps)there is stuttering and juddering.Contrary in the base PS5 version LFC is working fine because when i play in graphics mode with RT although the framerate is lower than PRO(35-45 FPS)and always below the vrr range there is no stuttering at all.LFC was implemented along with 120hz by capcom on patch 7 but in the PS5 PRO version is broken and not working at all!

This game is obviously CPU bound. They need to optimize this game for act 3 (delete the amount of useless AI walking around). Either than or offer a mode for 40 fps (25 ms) which is a middle ground between 30 fps (33.33 ms) and 60 fps (16.67 ms) . It worked well for ratchet and clank rift apart

Stop saying things that aren't true. You don't need a high-end PC, and it doesn't have performance issues. On PC, a simple Ryzen 7600 smooth has much higher performance. At the launch, a Ryzen 3600 had 50% higher performance than PS5, a percentage that if you see between PS5 and PS5 Pro in your latest videos, you call it a miracle... That's what you should expect from PS5Pro in the future games. Almost NO FPS improvements over Base PS5. And A bit better Aliasing made by PSSR. Most of the future titles will be made on Engines like Unreal Engine, Rage Engine. These engines are very CPU heavy. Forget your 60FPS experience. It's not happening. Especially in tiles which pushes Ray Tracing.

main difference in gaming anymore is framerates. Anything above medium or high graphics settings is usually fairly hard to tell in motion. Not something you'd notice unless they are side by side or pixel peeping screenshots. Going from 60-120fps though is very obvious, as is 30--60. If you can max out ray tracing like with a 4090, then the graphics are more obviously improved. Either way, a 4090 is $2000 dollars, nearly the price of 3 ps5 pro's lol That's kind of a ridiculous comparison. Going from a 4060 to a 4070 is probably a closer comparison.

Off-topic: I read some reports on the web and testing here I noticed some problems when the PS5 Pro is at 120Hz. For example, in F1 24 in quality mode the game was running in 4K 120Hz but I realized that the quality was very bad, the correct one should be 60Hz (as this information is indicated in the game setup itself - 60Hz quality and 120Hz performance). I disabled the 120Hz mode in the console setup and the difference was huge, much sharper graphics and running at 4K 60Hz.

People's perspectives on graphical upgrades have become very distorted due to the diminishing returns we get on hardware anymore. It's not like 20 years ago where it was obvious when console generations changed. Now you can spend 2x as much to get something more like 10-15% "better" visuals. Which is great if you stop worrying about "the best" and simply enjoy the games, because realistically everyone is having a fairly similar experience. Obviously if you can max out everything with a 4090 stuff changes, but that's also more like tripling or quadrupling the price over other builds.

i dont know if you pointed this out yet while the center screen is much sharper now the edges and outer areas of the image suffered 33-50% in details on the new PS5 Pro because of the new rendering that was originally invented for VR Headsets

Lens distortion around the edges. Spiderman and Resi 4 Remake use it. It's a good solution to give the look of higher image quality. You are looking at the centre not the edges. Motion blur is also used to hide image reconstruction tricks. When ya pan the camera with motion blur off you can see the image getting reconstructed and it doesn't look good. With motion blur on it's hidden. But people still turn it off when it should be on in games that use Reconstruction techniques.
