Thank you Wolfheart! I think that because Swen Vinke went to a basement in the Blighted Village, that the book will become important, and why I think the party should have a lot of necromancy spells. I think it will help us against Cazador and since it looks like my beloved Ketheric is worshiping Myrkul now, it might help the party with fighting or uncovering knowledge for that quest, too.

I hope we get a sequel to the d&d movie. Becuse Szass Tam was prominent in that movie as as it ended they hinted at a sequel, and he's still alive coz he was the one giving the villain lady orders the whole time.
@DoomedPaladin Жыл бұрын
The creative team behind the movie has mentioned they'd be interested in doing more D&D movies, but other stories and in other settings. So its likely you'll have to look for tie-in products for more involving the characters from _this movie,_ like books, comics, games, and adventure modules for the ttRPG. If we're _very lucky_ they'll pull off some kind of Marvel-esque movie multiverse (which _has precedent_ in the game) and they'll show up again down the line.
@charlesajones77 Жыл бұрын
I don't think Honor Among Thieves was as successful as the studio hoped, so I wouldn't hold my breath for a sequel. I'd like to so one though, so I hope I'm wrong.

To clarify for those who have played the Baldur's Gate 2 expansion Throne of Bhaal since 2001, Szass Tam is actually in the Enhanced Edition version, as a character who appears in Neera's personal Throne of Bhaal side quest (Her side quest takes you to Thay). Fun fact: Baldur's Gate 2 Throne of Bhaal is set in the year 1370 DR, five years before Szass Tam's coup started, and likely when Xenk Yendar was a 1 year old kid (He was five or six during the coup). Fun fact #2: 5:31 The Thayan army Szass Tam secretly betrayed was under the command of the tharchion Homen Odesseiron, who is likely the father of Edwin from Baldur's Gate 1 and 2.
@dnddetective Жыл бұрын
Baldur’s Gate 2: Throne of Bhaal is actually set in 1369 DR. You can tell this from the journal entry when you make a new character.
@LightStreak567 Жыл бұрын
@@dnddetective Yeah, it may look that way when you look at the in-game journal, but I discovered something in the lore that'll blow your mind as a D&D Detective. Have you talked to any of the town criers in Athkatla? The guys who shout out "Hear ye! Hear ye!" When you ask them what is the latest news, they'll tell you that exiled Amnian families have recently returned to Amn. According to the sourcebook "Lands of Intrigue Book Two", which I have, that event happened on Hammer (January) of 1370 DR!!! Do you know what that means? It means that the game's story canonically stretches to the next year! The events of Shadows of Amn starts in Mirtul (May) of 1369 DR according to the in-game journal entries you mentioned, then Chapter 2 of Shadows of Amn stretches out for the whole year (6 or 7 months, likely because Chapter 2 is all about you trying to make enough money to pay for Gaelan Bayle's assistance in tracking down the Cowled Wizards, doing as many side quests as you can, which is plenty of time for your character to build friendships and romance with your companions), and the locations of Amn in the game do not match the official map (The only accurate ones are Athkatla and Nalia de'Arnise's fortress), they are further apart than the game depicts. For example, in the game it takes you two days to walk from Athkatla to Trademeet while in truth it would take 20+ days to get to Trademeet from Athkatla ON FOOT because Trademeet on the official map of Amn is south past the Sharp Teeth Mountain Pass, east from Murann, but instead in the game it is placed northwest from Small Teeth Pass, near the lake that should be Lake Esmel (Trademeet should not be near Lake Esmel or its town Esmeltaran). On top of that, Throne of Bhaal is set in the exact year the ogre mage Sothillis waged war on Amn. In Throne of Bhaal, because of the Sothillisian War (which did not happen yet in 1369 DR), there were rumors going around that Sothillis is another child of Bhaal (Possibly because the Bhaalspawn war in Tethyr and Sothillis' war in Amn were happening around the same time), and some time ago he was killed by the half-fire giant Bhaalspawn Yaga-Shura, but the truth to those rumors is, Sothillis was officially not one of Bhaal's mortal kids, and he and Yaga-Shura never met, as Sothillis lived to see the year 1374 DR, the year Neverwinter Nights 2 and Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance happened.

Sorry this is off topic, but your username and profile pic triggered my long-term memory. We had an exchange about how the small folk get infected by Mindflayers on one of Wolf's videos more than a year ago.... Did you ever find out about the gnome ceremorphs?
@LightStreak567 Жыл бұрын
@@Elessar0wind Sort of. I don't think the goal is actually to turn people into mind flayers anymore. In the D&D comic book Mindbreaker, which reveals that mind flayers have taken over Baldur's Gate sometime after Elturel's descent into Avernus, there are some mind flayers who are members of the Cult of the Absolute, and their leader was an elder brain named "Mindbreaker" who was killed by Minsc and his companions, which would explain why the cult would try to capture Minsc according to the most recent trailer that revealed Jaheira and Ketheric Thorm. If mind flayers are part of the cult, then they must be fully aware of the magical tampering of their tadpoles, which would mean they would definitely capture humanoid races normally ignored for ceremorphosis, especially gnomes, because they have a completely different goal instead of their way of reproducing.

My friend tried to add it but NOPE cant have that!! Gets deleted asap. Yet they allow say the Yellow salt dragon be described and pink dragon, PINK! We are in desperate, desperate need of an info dump. As someone who also bought the game as soon as it was available on GoG; I mean literally. I looked up and saw it was 1:30am Oct. 6th and went to see if it was available for download. There it was. I played until 5:50am, then immediately afterwards around 5:45PM. After roughly 190 hours of total playtime over the next 6 or 7 weeks I stopped and still had not seen everything. I didn't want to see anymore. I did pick it up one more time for a few days when Lariam had did their Druid update, but that was it. Nadda since Feb '21. Too say it was tough would be a drastic understatement. Heck, I even turn off videos when they are going to a spot a haven't seen, or interacting with characters I am not familiar with as I want to experience the game like it is the first time. I also expect that Lariam will change quite a bit of Act 1 when the game does finally release. The same, but, you know, not quite... Anyway, I do look forward to big news drops though, since they typically give a bunch of info without ruining anything, but this is getting absurd. Add to that the sheer drought of AAA PC A/CRPG's that aren't Soulslike and it's been a bugger finding things to keep me occupied on the gaming side. Heh, I started replaying Cyberpunk with a ton of mods but ditched that as well, since I've already put 500 hours into that, and would like to replay it as a whole when the *gigantic* expansion, rumored to have over 110 hours of total content, finally hits store shelves (probably right around when BG finally comes out...feast or famine I tell you what. So I gave Solasta a shot but grew bored around the 20 hour mark. Now? I'm playing a lot of _"Descenders."_ Heh, no RPG's on the market that I'm interested in? Of course a downhill/track/trick Mountain Bike game will fill the void...for like 25 minutes at a time until I'm bored to heck and pick up a book instead. Yep, real ones, with paper and all. At least Jedi Survivor is almost out. 5 more days. That certainly won't keep me busy until 2 days after my birthday. Man, I'm going to 50 soon. Not this year, or the next one...but eventually. Yikes that's scary. makes these delays all the more annoying. At 19 I was frustrated with Neverwinter Nights delay, and that was only a month or so. Heh, and games like Baldur's Gate 1, 2, and Throne of Bhaal only took around 2 years to make so their was so much to play, literally all the time. Now? Bloody delays are often a year+ after 3-5 years of development. Drives me nuts. To think I may only play 5 or 6 more Elder Scrolls games if I live to 100 is craziness. So Lariam, think about us old folk. We'd like to play more than 2 or 3 more of your games before we aren't around anymore! Heh, but the games need to be great. And hundreds of hours long. Without game breaking bugs or dead end quests with riveting story lines, decent graphics and fantastic voice acting...so yeah, take as long as you need I guess, just to it fast ;^) . And drop another mini _"Panel From Hell."_

I cant wait to see the crazy epicness later in the game. My friend and I are so excited to see the city... Oh man, think I found my endgame baddie for my campaign now. I started my players in the sword coast having to defend Neverwinter from a Frost giant gathering armies to strike from the north. And protect Baldurs gate from an ancient red dragon from the south. Meanwhile unknown to them is a massive undead army forming in the west across the sea on one of the islands (haven't decided which one). My plan is to see if they will create a pact with one of the major enemies to defend the sword coast from entire annihilation once they learn of the threat. I needed some form of Lich baddie. Seems Szass Tam would fit nicely. Just gotta come up with why he left Thay to do so I guess. Or make my own Lich instead I suppose lol
@redelephantsdotnl Жыл бұрын
Quick note: Szass Tam wasn't in Throne of Bhaal Expansion, he was in the Enhanced Edition. This makes a bit of difference, as I doubt Larian will take Beamdog's content as canonical happenings in the original. Now, Szass Tam *is* a Forgotten Realms character, just as Volo is, who we've already encoutered; so he may still appear, of course. I find this doubtful with our level cap, but it can certainly happen.

Szass Tam is easily the most ambitious villain in the entirety of the Forgotten Realms series, even moreso than Larloch or Karsus. The Ritual of Unmaking would unravel *all* of creation (Faerun, Toril, the Planes, the Great Wheel Cosmology, even the Gods, so coincidentally Bane wouldn't exist anymore to collect on the bargain), and grant the sheer raw potential to the caster of the ritual to do with as they see fit, essentially making him into the new Overgod Ao. Szass Tam is doing this, because he sees the universe as flawed, and wishes to recreate it in what he views as perfect. The deal that Szass Tam made with Bane was a bit more than that. This was just after the Spellplague just occured, so the Weave was in tatters, and all the magical shortcuts the Red Wizards had woven into their refined spellcasting was causing their spells to fail as often as not. So after Szass Tam summoned Bane (which Bane punched Szass Tam in the face for, and Szass took it like a champ), he bargained for all of Bane's knowledge on the current state of the post Spellplague Weave, which allowed Szass to regain reliable spellcasting ability, this was permanent. He also bargained for more power to bolster his spellcasting, but this was temporary and faded over time. In return, he offered Bane his soul, to be collected in 1,000 years hence. Szass was already planning the Ritual of Unmaking, and so chuckled and mused about how even gods could make ridiculously bad deals. If you want to learn more about Szass Tam, I'd recommend reading Richard Lee Byers' "The Haunted Lands" series. Unclean, Undead, and Unholy.

I look forward to this video, but Wolf you sure are pesky, posting an image of Astarion these past few videos~ you know I can't not click on a video if he's in the thumbnail. Then again I think almost everyone has gotten that memo by now. 😂💕

:-D The Astarion image in the bottom right is now an official indicator that a video is part of the new lore series.

I automatically guesstimated it was before I came in here . The Haunted Lands novels are great reads. Can I get a bozo button for guessing?

this undead lord looks like so much the baddies in DnD the movie, pale bald heads in red robes .. comon gang get creative !!!!
@mikem.4269 Жыл бұрын
The lore of this lich and the red wizards and the way they look was already in place way before new movie. You can say the movie took the inspiration of the lore of Forgotten Realms and gave us something new in the beckoning death.
@WolfheartFPS Жыл бұрын
Yes that is intentional! The creators of the movie were sticking to the lore.

They take so damn long to make, otherwise I would make them all 30 + min lol
@dominika3762 Жыл бұрын
I would appreciate if the videos were longer
@WolfheartFPS Жыл бұрын
Some of them will be but even the shorter ones are quite time consuming. If I want to keep up with Sunday uploads alongside the other work on my channel I unfortunately won’t be able to make them that long.

You make great videos, but dude, your titles suck. How can people search for these? If I wanted to know about Szas Tam, would I ever think of searching for "Seriously, watch out for this villain" ?
