Thanks! This may explain why my sheep are always hungry lately, despite having ample hay, lol! They do have free-choice mineral as well as baking soda, but I have been supplementing with commercial ewe ration and beet pulp twice daily, which they definitely appreciate :)

Yeah, as the temps drop they will eat more. Sheep and goats produce body heat through rumen fermentation. During cold weather, as a general rule of thumb, sheep and goats require 1% more feed for every degree of outside temp that drops below 32F (when they are dry) or 50F (when they are wet). Cold wind and other factors can play into this as well. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.
