This video is incredibly helpful and truly made with the viewer's perspective in mind. You've covered all the essential questions that might come up when exploring these topics. I really appreciate that you've included resources also to check current rates, compare options, and make the best choice. I've always thought about starting my own KZbin channel to create content like this-clear, concise explanations on chosen topics. But with creators like you out there, I feel like I don’t need to! You’re doing exactly what I had in mind. I have a quick question: if I already have a forex card that holds USD, is it possible to load it from other sources, like MMT? If it is from Thomas Cook then only they can load it? If we load USD onto the card, how is it converted to IDR? Can exchangers directly exchange USD from the card to IDR cash? If not, what's the advantage of holding a forex card? Since I'd be paying an exchange fee from USD to IDR for each ATM withdrawal or swipe, I’m wondering if the main benefit of a forex card is just to avoid mark-up fees and GST. Given that my total expenses will be around 2000 USD, do you recommend loading a specific amount onto the forex card versus carrying USD cash?
@logontogaurav2 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for your appreciation!!! If you are thinking to start your YT channel, don’t hesitate because everyone brings something new and some new perspective which is always helpful. If you already have a forex card then I think you can only top it up from the issuing bank of that card. And there is no problem in that. You would get same amount in your card. Conversion between currency depends on the exchange rates set by the respective banks. Mostly bank follows the exchange rates of VISA which is great. Yes, the conversion can happen from USD to IDR. The benefit of forex card, like Niyo, is the exchanges rate of VISA which is very good. It is the best you can get. Only few forex card don’t charge mark-up and GST, mostly do. Cards also means convenience and safety. For spending 2000 USD, I would suggest to carry 1000 USD in cash and 1000 in card. Hope it helps!

Man you made my day. Literally your video answers to almost all my financial doubts with regards to my upcoming trip to Bali :) Just need a clarity, Do they ask for International Driving Permit while renting scooters / two wheelers in Bali ? It would be really helpful, if you clarify this. TIA !!!

@PrateekGole Is it so? I haven't checked it. I just checked a few property rates in INR and IDR (Bali). There was not much difference. But it maybe. Booking.com shows in local currency of the property, there Forex cards are useful.

does the same logic apply for THB? I am referring to the part where you mentioned that it's better to convert from INR To USD instead of IDR. Do you know if the same logic applies to INR to THB?
@logontogaurav20 сағат бұрын
Yes that would apply to any “not so” popular currency. But THB is slightly more common than IDR. Unlike IDR, major banks also have THB available. But INR-USD-THB would be best logically. Please check the exact rates while purchasing!

I haven't done it but I am more than 50% sure that it can be done. But in that case, your forex card may charge some additional fees depending upon your card. Also, you should keep in mind that the rates displayed at exchange may be of only cash exchange. I am not fully sure about these things.

dcb debit or sbm credit which should you recommend
@logontogaurav5 ай бұрын
There are few advantages of credit card like points and all, but I already had too many credit cards which is why I went for a debit card. Also, credit cards require you to create FD with the bank and your limits depend on its value and didn't want to get into the hassle of that. But both are good.

Withdrawing money with a Niyo card at an ATM in Bali? what's your suggestion on it? will it be cheaper or expensive compare to your USD part.
@logontogaurav6 ай бұрын
There is a withdrawal fee on the Niyo Card but that comes back as cashback or something if you have some monthly balance above the threshold or something. Also there is limit on number of transactions and amount per transaction. You can check it on Niyo website. Summary is, the withdrawal fee can be waived off. But the maximum amount you can withdraw from an ATM in Bali is equivalent of 18k Rs but the limit per withdrawal is less than this. This is about financial limitations. About Bali: There are plenty of ATMs in Kuta, Changgu etc part of Bali, but in central Bali, like Ubud, the ATMs are scarce. Also not all ATMs are trustworthy. Also the the amount you need to spend may surpass the financial limits. So I would suggest to rely less in ATM withdrawals. But no doubt, it will be cheaper.
@abhinavgupta23886 ай бұрын
@@logontogaurav I checked with niyo cards so the maximum amount withdrawl limit is 1lakh per day, 3L a week and 5 Lakh a year. All 3 cards ( Niyo DCB debit, SBM debit and credit cards) have similar withdrawal limit. so I guess its better to carry cards and withdrawal at airport and other atms. Though the fees is very nominal.
@logontogaurav6 ай бұрын
@@abhinavgupta2388 Ok. But practically, I believe, that there won't be such huge availability of cash at ATMs. Paying Rs. 400 on say a withdrawal of Rs.10000 would be the degradation of 4%, which is the same as getting USD and then converting it to IDR. But give it a shot and let us know.

@@logontogaurav Shall we load USD in the forex card? Also while paying in resturant/else where can we use the card to pay in USD?
@logontogaurav5 ай бұрын
@@sanjuktabhattacharya5152 For cards, loading in USD, IDR etc doesn't matter as the currency conversion rate is at par with market rates. For eg. if you load your Niyo card in INR, you will get an equivalent amount of USD, EURO etc. Taking USD in India and getting it converted to IDR in Indonesia is applicable for cash as the exchange rate for cash is poor. If a restaurant accepts in USD, then you can pay in USD.
