As memey as xcom is people forget the game isn't existing in a turn based manner. The aliens aren't politely waiting for you to take your turn. Thats just how the game play is. Not to mention people only remember the shots they miss, not the ones that hit. So it's skewed to seem as though the game is broken, when the AI usually cheats in favor of the player.
