In a very general term, the song tells a story that once upon a time in a silent summer night, the god of dragon decendes from sky as a teenager and encounters with a girl in the forest. The girl dances for descending of the god and they plays together with flying fireflies under the silvery moonlight. they fall in love with each other.

but for some reason, the dragon god is not supposed to be fallen in love with a human girl, so he has to leave the girl. they exchange the vetchs as a prove of their enconter and love (the shiny one is from the god and the dull one is from the girl as u can see in the video). In the next morning, the dragon god disappears, leaving the girl alone. The girl wakes up and feels as if everything happened last night is just a dream, only the vetch holding in her hand tells that it wasn't just a dream

I guess this song was aspirated from a long poetry (洛神赋) written by Zhi Cao at 1800 years ago, the poet (also a prince) imagined the love story between a nymph (洛神, the goddess of Luo River) and himself on the way to his land, while he heard about this nymph from the description in another long poetry (神女赋) written by Yu Song at 2400 years ago.

因为这首歌写的就是男女离别的，只是写的没有特别明确而已。但是歌词中的：”遗我北山薇，赠君南浦草”都是有典故的。“北山薇”出自伯夷、叔齐采薇而食，最后相约饿死于首阳山下，后来男女之间也会互相赠送薇草，用薇草代表“我对你的感情忠贞不渝”。“南浦草”出自《楚辞·九歌·河伯》：“子交手兮东行，送美人兮南浦”，诗词愿意就是你握手道别将要远行东方，我送你送到这向阳的河旁，所以“赠君南浦草”就已经代表了离别的意思了。
