It looks like the father so it must have the Wolf's traits whereas if it looks like the mother then it has the mothers traits. This was also done in Lady and the Tramp II: Scamps Adventure. Though in that case all the puppies that were female looked like the mother. Not one poor puppy to get confused for a female by look like it's mother.

IKR? As someone who watched Simba’s Pride a lot as a kid, I always thought Wolf Quest was very similar and was pretty sad when Alu went with the wolves instead. Yeah the story is a jumbled mess and is so poorly written in so many areas, but I always wished we got to learn more about Balto’s wolf heritage or why Alu was accepted as a leader of a random pack of wolves

his review is biased because he doesn't seem to take in native American beliefs such as the spirit animals including those stories of the trickster in this case represented by the fox though that depiction might be a bit of fan service drawing the fox the way they did. He also misses the point of the whole mouse scene.

@@MattStMarie-bm5sq Well that is all fine and dandy, don't get me wrong. 😊 It definitely isn't the American Indian stuff I'm mocking at least a teensy bit, however. But, speaking of this subject, I tend to get a lot more out of (regarding American Indian lore and cultures, etc.) certain movies like "Against a Crooked Sky", "Dances With Wolves", "Thunderheart", etc. What I'm mocking, is the feminism... (Not in the movie, but from...) But my laughter only goes so far in this regard, to be perfectly honest. Regarding Doug Walker, I'm betting he feels somewhat like I do, regarding the sorts of movies that reflect American Indian cultures a bit more realistically, strongly, etc. Animated movies like this are, well, all fine and good, but...

This could’ve been a decent movie if it wasn’t forcefully attached to ‘Balto’ u can tell someone wanted to tell an actual story in it. I loved this movie as a kid. This review had me dying laughing.

Same, my standards are relatively low but I feel they've judged it a bit to harshly. It's a good story on it's own, although it can't compare to Balto. This is exactly like the Avatar: The Last Airbender vs Legend of Korra situation. The spinoff would've been a great show on it's own, if it hadn't been chained to it's incomparable predecessor.

This is my favorite childhood movie, and Alu was my first crush. I was really so much into "find yoursslf" and "you're more wolf than a dog". I still think the movie is so much deeper than just "adventure road for kids".

Aleu not only doesn't look more like a wolf than Balto, she looks more like a husky than Jenna. Wolves don't even carry the gene for blue eyes. (That said, the ending gets me every time.)

Wolves also don't carry the marking/pattern genes aleu has. Those are husky markings, and the wiki cleary says that aleu is ¼ wolf, and ¾ husky. Making her more husky then wolf. And I hate her so much.
