Flounder fishin' is always fun, thanks for showing us how you do it in the surf. I used to catch them on live bait at the beach mixed in with whatever else. But we used jigs to target them in the mouth of the Manatee River and we wore them out a few times. I've never used braid for them but I'm sure the extra sensitivity helps.
@aaroncummins62252 жыл бұрын
I appreciate you explaining the bite of those flounder and how you set the hook. I missed several of them last week.
@comfortablynumb93422 жыл бұрын
They're tough to hook. Sometimes they just hold on to the bait until they get close and let go without ever getting the hook in the mouth. Once in a while you can toss your bait back to them and get them to bite again, or with a new bait in the same spot.

Great video! I appreciate all your hard work! Thats one thing that alot dont understand about the gulf side, espc in alabama the fish sizes are smaller for some fish like flounder, blues, even some mackerel. To me the mackerel we catch are decent sized but alot look down on the sizes. They dont understand thats what we have in the area. When we say decent fish, its decent for the area we are in

Well, the flounder are a different species here. The bluefish were affected by the oil spill really bad. Mackerel, we have regular size ones.

Flounder are different everywhere. Here in NC you cannot keep any, unless you are commercial fishing off shore. So if you can keep them at 14 there, then no problem. It's funny that they don;t trust us to know the different flounder because there are plenty of some, but the other must be protected, so they banthem all.

Standing IN the surf with a zip lock of dead shrimp and just Banged em! Turned around and there was a group of people watching me! You don't need 12 foot rods to surf fish! Good luck amigo!

Man I absolutely love your spots bro. I don’t get to fish very often now a days but would love some local insider on where these spots are. I KNOW that blue beach house at the beginning but can’t pinpoint where that’s at. The darker sand and the sea grass on the beach has me thinking it’s closer to the Fort. @Thwarptide2 жыл бұрын
I don’t like lady fish! When they made the lady fish, they forgot to put in the quit! Slippery buggers too. I hade one in hand, pliers in hand, she violently wiggled (again) slipped out and fell, the treble hooked solid into my upper leg and she hung there flopping around. OUCH! My brother laughed but wouldn’t help, I laughed and just yanked the hook out of my leg (FRICK’N OUCH!), then the fish and threw the fish at him. He stopped laughing. 😉

The rod and reel you're using in this video doesn't really look that big? Is it a surf rod, or something else? I still have no idea what I can use as a rod and reel combo in the surf. I have two obvious salt water combos (basically Walmart specials, no names that I bought years ago and still really haven't used), but I don't know what their style is mainly used for, either surf, pier/bridge, deep sea, or kayak inshore. Can you or any other subscribers please tell me what is preferred, and/or at least desired for each, or something that could be used universally? I really don't want to spend a lot of money if possible. Cameraman Ron has stated that you don't really need much more than a Walmart special, I would tell you or anyone else that I pretty much don't want to spend over $75 for a combo, either that or a real and a rod separate and adding up to at least that maybe $100 at the most? Thanks for anything you can do, and for all that you do, I definitely hope to get that surf fishing mastery course,(I've hinted to my wife as a possible birthday gift). Good luck, God bless, STAY BUMMY!
