Bambi's party (249)

Honey and Bambi are both adopted and we do not know their exact birthdays. We recently picked a date (July 1) and had a little celebration. Bambi and the herd are not good at arriving at the party on time, so this is what we got. We served the standard fare along with pineapples, apples, carrots, watermelon, bambio's and graham crackers for desert. We have many raccoons and they are all individuals with different personalities. We have some that simply eat as shown in the video, others eat out of the feed bucket at the Kitchen Door and a few that come in the Kitchen to eat. You are right, they are highly intelligent. We have to lock the kitchen door as they know how to open it. They hang on the handle and pull it down, then they ride the door as it swings into the kitchen. It is great sport for them. Try a marshmallow as a treat every once in a while. I had a racky who fell from a tree and I tried to put it back, but he had worms in his ear and the mother didn't want him in his tree nest. ( Racky's normally don't live in trees, but as you know, there are predators. Painstakingly, I removed the worms and raised him until he was ready to return to the wild, albeit teaching him how to forage for food as well as defending himself. All I had to do was call him from the forest, " Bandit..Bandit.." and he would come running..." I often took him out for rides in my truck, stopping at Mickey D's for lunch. Bandit loved sitting on my shoulders, especially at the drive in. I sure miss his antics !!
