The P1P is an incredibly impressive printer, but did it have to make all the tradeoffs it comes with?

You should do a few videos on it. I would like to see a head to head style video, this the mk3, the ender3 v2 all stock printing the same files. Then compare quality and print time etc. Then separately test the p1p against itself with the included upgrades. Then maybe a section on the cosmetic mods.

A very fair and balanced review, and lots for me to think about. I'm still attracted to Prusa as a company, but Bambu's product features at this price point are undoubtedly class-leading and it challenges Prusa's brand reputation as the default choice for a printer that just works right out of the box. I disagree that the company is an unknown quantity given it's a spinoff from DJI who have a track record of successfully dominating the drone, gimbal and now action camera markets. Their engineering ability is unquestionably a towering strength, though service is clearly a Prusa stand-out strength. I hope both companies thrive and compete; I slightly worry for Prusa that they don't have the engineering depth of talent and resources to innovate and scale up fast enough.

Reliability. The major issue with budget printers you mod to make better: is out of the box they aren't reliable. Ender 5's have prints fail because of badly tensioned extruders deforming the filament (I had that) and then again because of bowden tube gaps. Getting to the point where you can consistently get a successful print most of the time: that takes a LOT of upgrades, careful tuning and learning. It can take months to get an Ender type printer to the point where it's legitimately reliable. Now some of the newer entries in the market here like the Elegoo Neptune 3 may be better in this regard (I don't know), but this is their biggest shortcoming. And if I was to consider saving up for a printer thats 3 times the price of an ender 5 pro, (considering I spent almost that much on upgrades by now) - what I'd want is that reliabilty. On reputation: that means "Go for Prusa, for a hundred bucks more you get the most famously great printer build around, and it really does just work almost always). Quite a feat for a now 5 year old design. But its' also a slow bed-slinger using an inductive ABL that forces you to ALWAYS print on metal (I love my FR4 printbed). Is this better? Can it use other beds ? And is it reliable. Will it keep working if you print regularly over several weeks, or will you regularly have lots of failures due to mechanical printer flaws until you replace a lot of the pieces where they cut too many corners ? That's where a mid-range printer can shine: "Sure it's 3 times the price, but you don't need to spent that much again to make it reliable, it already IS reliable". Can you test that ?

If I had the disposable income I'd get one in an instant. As you said this printer aims directly at the niche only Prusa was filling so for that reason alone I'm really looking forward to this; Prusa needed competition in that price segment for a long time. But I've got to say this video felt weirdly critical in comparison to your mk3s+ one. Like I wouldn't place side panels as mods. Current printers still carry the "cobbled together in a garage" look with them so a "removed decorative panels" doesn't seem half bad to me. As it currently stands the P1P is straight up better than an mk3s+ at a cheaper price imo.

I refuse to have more devices on my local network going all the way out to the internet to do stuff when the data is both generated and consumed right there on my network. Does this printer require access to the internet to set up the wireless? Does that QR code go to an internet URL or a local one? Can it be integrated in with home assistant? Can I easily send jobs directly to it if the printer is on the wifi but blocked from internet access? Those are some things I'd like to see reviewed. Also, can I use it with stock Prusa Slicer or do I have to use their modified slicer?

To me, main thing I'd like to see is print quality vs. other printers (Ender 3, Prusa MK3) at speeds that are considered "normal" and "fast" for each of the 3 printers. So - for example, does the BambuLabs machine print quality improve (and does the noise decrease) when printing at an average of 70mm/sec, for example.

Hi I suggest to see print quality vs speed and presetting or profiles it’s good from factory just slice and use or require modifications to the profiles for a good quality print

The textured PEI is not on the Carbon since it used lidar to calibrate flow and need a flat surface.

honestly since you said that the pursa is your fav printer, I would like a see a comparison on that. since as you said, both just print out of the box with no upgrades needed.

About the speed claims, I actually think its somewhat unfair to dog on them for this, as they are pretty honest especially compared to other manufacturers. The printer really does hit those speeds, and you can really print and get usable results at those speeds. In fact, the regular profile does have the toolhead travel at 480mm/s. The speed benchy print (which you can get through some profile changes) is actually possible because of that. I basically think its an arms race, because companies making printers many times slower than this will put up huge numbers, so how can this company get across to customers that their printer really is faster in the real world? I think they did the most reasonable thing and they were honest with real values the printer can actually hit, even though it would require pretty extreme print settings and no one would really print at those speeds. I will note though that basically, I think that Bambulabs is like if Prusa put all their effort into making a baller printer instead of having awesome support. So they have just average support, but an awesome printer, which I think seems like a fair enough tradeoff if support is at least there, but do feel its probably the biggest area for improvement for Bambulab. This is based on being on a lot of discords, reddit etc, where I can see that at least they follow through with the warranty, but its certainly not the 247 chat support that Prusa has, though I guess with Prusa they have a much higher profit margin to squeeze that into. As for the call to action I think for the full review you should go the route of the full potential, AMS and panels included (because really its a relatively small mod and I think many people actually find that (fun bit of free marketing for Bambulab) fun) vs stock. I also think the most obvious thing that everyone wants, is a comparison between this and the Prusa Mk3s, because while its old, I dont see that as any reason not to compare them. These are really the printers real people are comparing when looking to buy right now. People want to know, should I get the slower, less capable, slightly harder to use open source printer with a long standing reputation and excellent support from a trusted company, or do I get the faster, more capable, slightly easier to use closed source printer without an established reputation from a brand new company who has mediocre support by comparison? Really I also think comparing the price point for different features is also in order. For instance, if you want to get official parts from prusa to get the same features (minus speed and fancy camera stuff) of the X1 Carbon Combo, you have to pay way more money than the combo for the prusa equivalent (with the enclosure, raspberry pi, hardened nozzle, camera etc) , but for the P1P, you just have to add a hardened nozzle and a raspberry pi. I think thats also something to keep in mind, because I actually, despite the price, think that the Carbon Combo is actually probably a really good value, especially if you want multi color prints or enclosed prints. I think the P1P on the other hand is basically about the tradeoffs above. For reference, I did actually buy (gamble buy through kickstarter) one of these (the Carbon Combo), which Im just mentioning for context. I bought it because it kicks printer manufacturers in the pants and I hope, means we can stop seeing the same lazy ender clones over and over and over again. It really is different and they put effort into addressing real problems/a real market segment of people like me who are fine paying to have a fast printer that just works. Before this came out, I was trying to decide if I was going to build a Voron, VZBot, or Ratrig (though I still might just for bigger volume and customizability).

I'd love to see a video with both speed and quality of Ender 3 S1 Pro with the Sonic Pad versus the P1P. I have the S1 Pro and considering the Sonic Pad or the P1P if it's better.

PLA/PLA+/Petg Quality as fast as you can get it with and without the addon fan. Ignoring speed claims, how fast can we go and get similar quality to a bed slinger doing 60mms? Do you have a sound metere? How loud is it really at those speeds? Camera and tiny LED strip are not a big deal - Unless camera setup does not work as expected

Tom, you decide the content of your videos, it's the reason why I keep coming back! However, if you're asking... I would like to see the machine from the perspective of a common 3D printer-user (Beginner) vs hobbyist. From what you were saying in regard to the limitations, it is almost like they are saying to hobbyists, "This machine is not for you, get the enclosed, customizable, and more expensive machine. We know are used to Prusa pricing and are willing to pay more for quality, expansion and customization. We will corner the beginner-market with P1P, but you hobbyists will want the X1-Carbon. We will have both markets! Buy it now, we know you want it!" Proof? I give you the Bambu Lab A1 mini 3D Printer.

The screen I actually don't mind, but I'm old and have been using computers since the Commodore days. It works fine and doesn't affect the output so just something that gives the details and lets you control the machine is fine.

It uses the same parts as the x1 and x1c. You can toss on the all metal hot end and hardened steel nozzle from their store for pretty cheap. I have a drawer full of extra parts already. Some where the Kickstarter thank you box and some I've bought extra. The p1p may still have the pre order bonus with the free camera and aux fan, which gets it pretty close to the x1. Print side panels and you're only really missing the top/front glass and a cable chain.
