Band-Maid - "After Life" - First Reaction

The maid room is the past life, the smoke is the spirits of the band members, and the room where the band plays is the afterlife. The band is reborn or released into an afterlife of eternal rock and roll. The flashing lights represent the traditional Japanese “magic lantern”, which is associated with death and rebirth. At another level this shows Miku the Maid reborn as Miku the Band-Maid. The guy who directed this MV is known for conceptual and symbolic imagery. "After Life" here is derived from the Buddhist term 来世. Buddhist themes/terms appear occasionally in B-M's song titles/lyrics. "Rinne" is another example.

You didn’t comment about the video, so I will. The five characters in the maid cafe are avatars for the five members of BAND-MAID. The video is an allegory of how the members assembled and how they each reacted to the frustrations they encountered bringing their music to the world.

The opening scene with the Maid (actor) was filmed in Miku's old place of work @home_cafe in Akihabara Tokyo. And I have visited there and sat in the chair to the right and just behind the Maid in the opening scene.It's on the 4th Floor. Long May They Reign! 👑

Is there “life after” Band-Maid? Maybe. But it won't be the same. And I'd miss my aching 9 year smile. Miku's "after life" came once she quit the maid café thing and started Band-Maid. Thank you Miku! And thank you, RC, for bringing Band-Maid to your great viewers!

The picture in the background in the opening scene is Miku's past life, Maid in a Maid Café. Her Afterlife is Band-Maid, and I am loving going through it with her and her friends/band mates!
