I think Kanami and Miku kind of share a part of their music brains. Miku says she listens to the music and then writes what it makes her feel. I'm sure there's more to it than that, has to be at least some collaboration, but their ability to match music and lyrics is really just ... something else. Saiki's ability to interpret and convey the emotion just hits you right in the feels. Miku was right, these 5 finding each other was a miracle.

Kudos to Miku for seeing the talent in Kanami and reaching out to her to help start the band. Miku describes it as a miracle. Kanami -- not into fashion and appearance, "clueless" -- was often overlooked at auditions, I believe. People didn't look past the surface. Miku did brilliantly talent scouting Kanami. And Kanami pulled in Akane, who pulled in Misa. Miku got three outstanding musicians and one outstanding composer when she found Kanami. No wonder Miku calls it a miracle. Her dream band, still playing many years alter. Pigeon did well. Lots of people start bands. Miku started a _marvelous_ band.

Kanami is my guitar Hero! And such a brilliant composer! There are a lot of players that are technically better than her. But what she has is feel and emotion. She compliments the song. Makes it better. In Nashville we call leads like her's Tasty! Band Maid Forever! I'm a songwriter and I was always caught up on lyrics. Yeah they are important. But the Maids in general and Kanami in particular have taught me so much about how music compliments lyrics. I don't have to understand any lyrics to get what their songs are about! Watched this twice! Thanks Ryan! 😊😎✌🤘🤘🤘🤘

Anemone is basically the perfect song, and easily one of the best I've heard in my life. The fact that Kanami can then turn around and arrange it as an intimate acoustic piece, with Saiki nailing the lead vocals, is nothing short of amazing.

This is the testament of how far and how wide Band Maid can reach. That bittersweet solo of the rock version, that broken voice of Saiki in the acoustic version, the lyrics, in short, all the feeling that these girls can display ... amazing. This band is a sharpshooter. As soon as they have your soul in their sight, they do not hesitate to hit you. Kanami, guitar hero ... she is a true muse, goddess of music. At least it seems to me. Great job Ryan. I'm really enjoying a lot walking with you throughout your journey listening to Band Maid.

Great Reaction & Review! This band needs to be illuminated. I like to imagine Kanami walking in public totally anonymous, while some street reporter randomly interviews someone pointing at her and stating: "Would you believe if I told you there goes one of the greatest living guitarist in the world" I guarantee no one would believe it and that is a real shame. In fact, it should be criminal that Kanami and the rest of the Maidens are as obscure as they are. What really is criminal Band-Maid has less than half a million subscribers to their channel. Meanwhile, some kids have millions of subscribers watching them play video games. That is a real shame.

I liked seeing how you gradually developed love for Kanami after many reactions. For many instrumentalists it’s typical to see one got hooked on Misa and Akane after the first listen cuz they are just great. But for Kanami, it takes a bit time and when you realize how great she is, it will be exactly like your expression right there!!

Kanami is one in a million. She's something else, and it's not about technique - I've never heard someone surprising me so often with unexpected guitar parts, harmonies, arrangements and of course compositions. There's so many great musicians but original ones are much rarer - and she's the very definition of originality.

The most amazing thing though, is how she might have faded into obscurity or simply never developed what she is capable of doing today, if not for the fact that Miku reached out to her. Kanami’s songwriting is amazing but it’s only possible because of what each of the other girls bring to the table and their absolute trust in each other as well as the emotional and technical support they give each other. I also think it’s easier and less stressful for her to be able to write whatever she wants without worrying about lyrics… because she knows that Miku will handle the rest after she’s done, and well her role is just to compose.

Saiki is a wonderful singer and really does justice to this lovely song but Kanami's ability as a composer and guitarist is beyond words. Not technically perfect they say - really? - but she plays with and from her heart. She can encompass emotion in her playing like no other I have heard. And coming from such a gentle, sweet soul it is pure perfection.

I used to rate "Anemone" as the best ballad of theirs. For now, it's only second to "About Us". The melodies and transitions of "Anemone" feel like watching the glittering stars until the sun rises. It's so atmospheric and emotional. As for the passionate solo ... is Kanami playing her love song to Saiki? ❤️❤️❤️ And Saiki's outro often brings me to tears … 😭
@thunderchild71372 жыл бұрын
Gotta add here that while Miku and Saiki have such similar voices which make their harmonies some of the best. Kanami's voice is so soft and feminine I contrasts perfectly to Saiki's more powerful voice. It sends a chill through me every time I hear this version.

Great comments Ryan. I totally agree. Kanami is a guitar rock hero (for me Jimi Hendrix is a god and Kanami is a goddess). Daydreaming and Anemone are the most beautiful BM ballads I have ever heard. I am unable to choose between the two versions of Anemone. Emotionally they are both magnificent. If I really had to choose, it would be the acoustics because of Saiki's sublime and moving voice accompanied only by Mincho's delicate guitar playing (and voice). I have tears in my eyes just thinking about it. Beautiful

Ryan! They are getting better and better with love songs and ballads while keeping up with untold intricacy! This is a sure sign, if one hadn't known it yet ,that they are attaining musical adulthood. It is becoming more and more sweetly difficult to imagine what hey will come up with next! Interestingly enough, the pandemic might well have contributed a lot to their progress with more time to work and compose and practice in spite of their unreserved love for live audiences. I absolutely concur with you, Kanami is a phenomenon already surpassing the likes of late Stevie Ray Vaughan who came many a time to Japan, Carlos Santana and even more. Wait until Misa tempts her into some Jimi hendrix's riffs! A heroine, she certainly is, and she will need all our humble support to help up her along soaring even higher in the company o her crew! No need to say I love your comments! LOL Best regards, kampai and all that! Robert-Gilles

Some live performances of Play have an intro. The one people are familiar with is from Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017. When this song was on KZbin, it gathered finally more than a million views, before it was blocked. Line Cube Shibuya has the same intro, as well as all other live versions until recently. Sometimes they would skip it, though, and start with the main part of the song. The same intro they have used during the European tour in 2019, by the way. Just check the Hamburg recording: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKPHnIiCbpJgfqM They have changed the intro only on The Day of Maid OKYUJI. And it's pretty interesting, I should say.

Wonderful reaction to this amazing song. Completely agree about guitar-hero-Kanami: to me (a very amateur guitarist) she's a generational talent who has the rare chops to make the instrument sound like a dynamic and emotional human voice. And her songwriting in this mid-tempo range is just freakishly good. I'd recommend Awkward live next (from the same Studio Coast show from your reactions to Puzzle and Moratorium). Awkward is another mid-tempo masterpiece released on the band's first written-by-them album Just Bring It, and it (esp the live version) is guaranteed to make you feel so f'n good. So you might want to save it for when you need it lol.

I've also truly enjoyed when your doggie comes in to give you love (I think during Daydreaming), your son popped in to chat (Manners) and now this one. So when your son comes in to hug you goodnight and you don't miss a beat and you give him priority which makes it even more awesome to watch you. My kids are grown, now, and I live far away from home right now, so I enjoy watching those candid moments I also had as a parent. You clearly have great priorities. Reminds me of those times.
