This was just a few months after Saiki came out of vocal chord surgery (she had never been trained in rock vocals before and it ended up hurting her - polyps I think). She's definitely developed her technique a lot since then.

The song that made me a maidiac... I had then gone on a 4 song youtube streak and thought: Holy shit... they are really good! I agree with you.. 8.4 is a good score! Good job! ...now... I did check your log and saw that you still havent done "Daydreaming" and "Blooming" who both are on my top 3 list! Would be surprised if they didn't climb over 9 on the scoreboard! ...at least blooming! If you don't find videos here you might find them on a chinese site named "bilibili".

Nice review. Score seems about right as it's a straight-ahead rocker without the progressive elements the maids are wont to use. Still it's cool to hear them go from Motorhead to Black Sabbath to pop then back again. FYI, the original video was never officially uploaded, and got taken down when the band switched record labels (I believe). It had close to a million views (that'll get them there :)).

As always a nice, very fair review. For me this song is one that’s better than it’s score because it just gets you pumped. I totally agree with an 8.4 score, but… when I’m at the show later this year, if they start playing this, it’ll be like a 10 because I expect similar crowd participation… the song just warrants it. So it’ll be a hell of a lot of fun!

It's interesting...my favorite BM songs score low to mid 8s from you and ones I don't like as much (but still like a lot) get high 8s or 9s from you. Lol. This is a favorite among BM fans so thanks for reacting!!! It is in my top 3 BM songs. Some great rock sounds from yesteryear....that breakdown riff was absolutely nasty and the group chant offset it nicely. Agree with your observations about Misa. She doesn't overplay but keeps it interesting. There is a song called I still seek revenge that she does a lot of popping and slapping throughout the song.

The earliest songs, Yolo, and it’s B sides Matchless gum and Unfair game are insane. You’ll love them. I would rank them, Unfair game, Match, ess gum and Yolo. That’s paradoxical when B side is better than the A side.

For me Moratorium, is a great example of Band Maid, adapting the song for good crowd participation. A good example of their 'solid' playing and song writing skills. They have so many good songs, there are only about three I dislike. Most of Kanami's solos have the effect of wanting more. Sometimes I feel cheated!

This video was from the *2017 STUDIO COAST* concert and right after this song you can hear the beginning of another awesome song *Puzzle* a lot of these videos from this concert is really hard to find but if you want to check out the concert for the simple enjoyment would go to *BAND-MAID Prime* there you can check out both parts of this awesome concert. If you do happen to run across a video of *Puzzle* there is a *Puzzle Acoustic* version which incredible as well from the *2018 Zepp Tokyo* concert and this concert can also be seen on *BAND-MAID Prime*

I would recommend listening to Geoff Castellucci's cover of House of the Rising Sun. He is the bass from Voiceplay, but his solo work is not A cappella. He sings multiple parts over his range, harmonizing with himself while still providing really good instrumentation

Moratorium, Puzzle, Clang, Fate... the incredible list of killer songs goes on and on. This 2017 Studio Coast Concert and the 2018 ZEPP concert are, imxo, two of the best produced, performed, and featured setlists you'll find anywhere. And of course, it's from Band-Maid! You can see both on DVD/BD, their video website (bandmaidprime), and at the bili websites. Thx, David! Keep the awesome B-M train going...

Kanami does know the formula to write music, this was one of the first songs I heard from them and is a good song, especially live because it can have the audience participation goes with lasers etc... I get it, this is a solid song but isnt the best and isnt weak, it is a solid song especially in a concert. And speaking of concerts, band maid is coming to los angeles, so I will be trying to score tickets.

Interesting analysis and in my opinion a fair score, in the end I'm going to end up having some knowledge of music theory thanks to these videos hehehehehehe. I think it's impossible to find a single artist that doesn't have weak tracks, maybe his weakest track is a good one, but in comparison with the rest of his work it will be weak, of course when we are a fan of a band we tend to overvalue everything he does ;) Greetings from Spain ;) (Translated automatically by software)

So sad they took this vid down. One of my favorites. Saiki has improved with every recording since this. Her vocals now are spectacular. Band-Maid always does just enough to get you involved and keep you involved. That's why all of their songs are 3.5-4 minutes. Nothing ever ostentatious. More reasons why BAND-MAID is Awesome. Peace.
