This was BAND-MAID'S first video and, unknown to them, it was make or break. They were struggling to find a fanbase and their label was making plans to disband them. Luckily this video went viral. Next song, might as well be chronological... Real Existence. The MV's great, the live is great, you can't go wrong.

heres a fun fact about" backup" singer and rhythem guitarist Miku ( short one with red flower and twin tails). At this time she did not know how to play guitar yet and is mainly using it as a prop. @@JopoLoco when this video released at this time she was able to play some basic stuff. When the band formed she was the singer, never played instruments before, after small initial performances they realized having another vocalist with a bit of a different style would be cool and recruited Saiki who was at the same talent agency. Some time passed with more shows and I think Akane, drummer, first gave the idea of adding a 2nd guitar. originally Miku only planned to kinda hold it to look cool on stage but eventually decided to learn, this was early 2014, Thrill MV released Nov 2014 but not sure when it was filmed. She said in interviews she didn't really like playing guitar until about 2016, and you can really tell with her progression from there, Kanami the lead guitarist is her teacher.

BANDMAID is the greatest proper rock and roll band of the 21st century IMHO. It's a crazy statement. Was Mozart the world's greatest composer of his era? He'll yeah! The farther we get away from that time the more clearly we see the immensity of his talent. Few would argue with the above assessment. Everytime I write "IMHO" after BandMaid is the greatest proper rock and roll band of the 21st century I feel like a liar. IMHO my ass! IMHO water is wet. BandMaid rules right now. 66 years old here. The future will prove us right. Kerp up the good work!

Funny you mention a song called “Black Hole” by a different group. You should check out Band Maid’s own song by the same name. They have an official live video that has 2 songs in it… “Manners” and “Black Hole”. Both killer tunes… “Manners” is straight up classic rock, and “Black Hole” is like if Rush and Megadeath did a collaboration!
@KittyKarenpoo13 күн бұрын
Yeah, this duel cut is a good way to see some range out of this group. Manners is a uniquely old-school sound from them and Black Hole is a speed demon unusual cut, as well, but it kind of oddly brackets their work.

From your reaction here... you may not be a Madiac yet... but I'm betting you're going to be. 😄 As somebody suggested, if you want chronological, then a good choice for next is the Real Existence MV, and maybe also the live... you're going to love them live, and I think you'll love the song. But then you're going to get to do The Non-fiction Days... if you can get past either of those two, and still not be a Madiac, I'd be surprised. That said, these are not necessarily going to be your favorites, hard to say, every Madiac has a different top five. Can't wait until you get to some mid-stage Band-Maid, with songs like Take Me Higher and Turn Me On. Or late stage stuff like Forbidden Tale, or the song released last week, Zen. You're in for a wild ride, Jopo! Rock on!

This might be the worst Band Maid video out there. It's early and they are doing a company song. Nobody is allowed out of their boxes, so the instrumentation is blah. Basically the rule of thumb is to only watch them live, if the viewer cares to actually see what they do, like sing or play instruments or even do their own band work. I recall watching this particular video back about ten years ago, and coming to the conclusion that Band Maid was nice but not worth a second look. Then about five years ago I pulled up a different, live video of theirs and was shocked at what I'd been missing. If you want to see an entirely different band, try this cut, Domination, live, by Band Maid kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5PcgnaAo5ulj8k

I mean Thrill solid track. no they didn't write, it but it sure influenced the way their songs get structured, emphasizing each member at different parts of the song. but I agree with you about this video being lack luster. the only reason I watched a second Band-Maid video was Kanami's sweep pick at the end of the solo. I knew right then they actually have some chops and worth a second listen.
@dennisthemenace67113 күн бұрын
The video is lack luster cause there label was not spending a lot of money on it , cause if it didn`t do well , BAND-MAID was going to be dropped by the label , but BAND-MAID did not know this at the time , also good thing BAND-MAID insisted on doing Thrill in stead of the song there label wanted them to do or BAND-MAID would not be here today , there MV`s are just as good as live its just a preference thing .

Their only really metalish song to my ear is Rinne tbh. . They mostly stay in the realms of good old hard rock (and usually as heavy as that can get - heavier than Thrill for example) though so not huge amounts of metal-like djent, even though the rhythm guitar adds a satisfying crunch in most songs. Having said that, if you listen a live version of Thrill for yourself you'll see their sound is much heavier live than it is produced.
