My wife is an Evans and William Evans was her grandfather's brother (GrandUncle). When we traveled to Normandy to tour the battlefields, the tour leader took us to the village where his C47 crashed. There is a monument in the crossroads in the shape of a C47 tail with the crew and paratroop stick members' names recorded...including Evans. It's nice that they are not forgotten and still honored today by the French people of Normandy.

I'm seeing all these comments about how Cpt Sobel is an ass, and how no-one likes him. But Winters, and all the other members of Easy Company agree that Cpt Sobel was the main reason they survived the war. Because Sobel did not accept any failure, and he pushed them to their limits.

Easy Company credited Sobel for their tough conditioning which helped them immensely. What they couldn't ignore was his total lack of combat awareness. I was a bit curious to why on the D-Day landings had ALL of the CO's and Company HQ Staff in one singular plane. If it got hit, like it actually did, a lot of important figures would get killed, which happened. I would spread out the staff, CO's and other officers and soldiers-of-importance amoung other troop transports, even if some got hit, the chance for ALL to get killed would be far less. Just an odd choice that resulted in this.

They didn't understand the importance of staying hydrated back then. He should have ordered every man to drink all the water from their canteens on that 12 mile march.

This show was filled with Brits! Damien Lewis and Simon Pegg were convincing as Yanks in this.

You missed the scene where Miller is burnt to a crisp with a shocked expression when their plane is shot down.

The way they keep changing which shoulder he has the weapon on is really distracting.

In the Navy Capt. Sobel would have not walked the weather deck at night or he would have gone on a one way swim!

does anyone know if William evans was an actual soldier in easy company??? and if so , what happened to him???
@Spoiltlilprincess8 жыл бұрын
+steven hewitt He was, actually. As far as I'm aware, he was killed the same way, or at least in a similar way, as what was depicted in Band of Brothers. "1st Sgt. Bill Evans died on 6 June 1944, on the same plane with 1st Lieutenant Thomas Meehan. The plane was shot down by enemy fire and crashed. " - this is a picture of the real William Evans. www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=29941348 Hope this helps!

steven hewitt Evans was definitely the Company First Sergeant. He perished with the rest of the HQ section on D-Day.
