Considering most peoples top 5 BAND-MAID songs lists consist of 20+ songs, this is going to be a tougher question to answer than you might have thought. I have mostly considered 'Puzzle' to be my favorite song. At least, it's occupied the ever changing number one position more often than not. But, also 'RINNE'. And 'I still seek revenge'. And 'Real Existence'. And 'Blooming'. And on, and on, and on . . .

The show was amazing, the best rock concert of my life. They rocked in front of 8000 fans. They are the masters of crowd participation, always getting their fans completely fired up. My favorite song or album, impossible to choose. All albums are good, the last 4 releases are masterpieces. They have around 120 great songs to chose from, have have not even released a mediocre or bad song so far, will probably never happen. I'm going back to see them at Zepp Shinjuku in Tokyo this July, I'm so happy Po

BAND-MAID was my introduction to the Japanese rock and metal scene. I was recovering from the passing of my father and was looking for some comfort in my music, but my music collection had grown stale. That's when BAND-MAID showed up in my recommendations. I gave them a try and fell in love right away. I'd go on to find LOVEBITES, Babymetal, Unlucky Morpheus, Wagakki Band, and so many others that have revolutionized my music collection and my view on music in general. Also, one of the highlights in music last year came in October last year when BAND-MAID and The Warning met at Aftershock Festival in California. It was as cute as you'd imagine, and both sides said they want to tour together at some point.

And they basically can do any sub genre within rock. To get a good idea of their diversity, check out the 2 song video for Manners and Blackhole. You want a ballad?? Daydreaming is my personal favorite. But their latest, "Memorable" was written in response to the love that they received on their US tour last year. And for those of us who saw them last year, when that song came out, there wasn't a dry eye. Two of my favorites that I always recommend to people tho, Daydreaming and Blooming. One of the best first reactions to Band-Maid I have seen. You captured and covered everything they are about. They are hard rock based but bring music influences from all genres. Most of the time pop/pop punk choruses that are catchy and fun, also crowd interaction a lot of times, bass/drums give more of a metal feel. They describe the maid concept as a cute/cool gap. They can look cute, but when it comes to the music they hit you hard! They do have a tendency to somehow make complicated music seem like its effortless. Also changing parts to songs. Chorus, verse, small parts can be just a little different each time. They are a SUPER FUN live band. I have never really seen a band live have so much fun on stage performing.

Yeah, the Maids are no ordinary collection of musicians… So, I say… Welcome to the world of Band-Maid!!!😀 Congratulations on finding the band many of us Masters & Princesses believe is the best on planet earth 🌍 today!! 🔥 Welcome to the Pigeon the Hole that is Band-Maid!! 🕊😂 In fact, your life has just taken a step in an incredibly positive direction by finding Band-Maid! 😀 They are a remarkable collection of five incredible musicians and performers that know few genre limitations and always put a smile on the faces of their audience when performing a “Service”. They have 100+ fantastic songs and should be playing stadiums all over the world, imho. Any one song, as great as it may be, like “No God” is but the tip of the tip of the tip of a distant gleaming iceberg of excellence! There are a lot of us Masters & Princesses who grew up with bands The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Santana, YES, RUSH, AC/DC, Metallica, Guns N Roses, The Who, U2, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, (& others) who have become Maidiacs because we find many of the same qualities in Band-Maid’s music we found in such giants of the Classic Rock era. As have many younger people from the grunge, alternative, independent and pop-punk eras. Band-Maid members have influences across the music spectrum including Alternative, Classic Rock, Post-Grunge, Metal, Punk, Punk-Pop, Pop, even classical musical training, and the influences of many great Japanese rock bands and pop acts. Yet, Band-Maid succeeds in creating a genre all of their OWN!! Stay with the journey and I’m sure you’ll agree. You’ll stop comparing them to anyone else as you’ll see no comparisons are useful. The Maids are the trailblazers not following in any particular footprints but all over the rock spectrum. They have great MV’s, both studio and live, on their official channel. A typical recommendation, as others will say, is to see more of them LIVE playing some older songs next: Check out: - “Domination”- official live video (2018) Then watch: - “Puzzle” - official live video (2017) - Real Existence” - official live video (2014) - “Freedom”- official live video (2016) - “Onset” - official live video (2017), instrumental magic - “Play” - official live video (2018) The other recommendation is to jump several years forward to some newer songs to see how they’ve developed since then. They’ve grown in every aspect over their years. This band does not stand still!!! They released the new “Unleash” EP in September 2022 and have three recent MVs, including - “Influencer” - official MV - “Unleash!!!!!” - official MV - “From Now On- official MV, more instrumental magic! And just on February 21, 2023, they released their most recent song “Memorable” - official MV, and it’s a love letter tho their fans who supported them on their recent tour, the first after the Covid19 pandemic. They just added an new official live video from their January 9th concert - “Puzzle”- official live video They had previously written anther beautiful song dedicated to their fans called “About Us” they were supposed to play at the legendary Budokan arena in 2020 but they didn’t get to perform it as planned in front of the fans because of the pandemic so they had to play it virtually during an online show. They were able to play “Memorable” at their biggest service in January and included clips in the official music video. I think you’ll like them and be blown away by their evolving talents in composition, arrangement, instrumentation, orchestration, playing, performance and all around joy 🤩 Then dozens more songs - everything is good and many are great! Try - “Dice” - official MV - “Choose Me” - official MV - “After Life” - official MV - “Manners” - official MV - “Manners / Black Hole” - official live video - “Sayonkadori” - official acoustic live video - sublimely beautiful - “Puzzle” Acoustic - official live - “Daydreaming” - official MV - “Warning” - official MV - “Rinne” - official MV - “The Dragon Cries” - official MV (all English lyrics & vocals) Two songs are Anime Theme songs - talk about high ENERGY! - “Sense” - official MV - “Different” - official MV And the essential song to understand the beginning lore of the band, - “THRILL- official MV - went viral, saved the band from being dropped, and started them on their path to world domination!! And it’s happening…they opened for Guns N Roses on Nov 6th. And played to a sold-out 8,000 seat crowd at the new Tokyo Garden Theater on January 9th! And yes, they have solo US Tour dates in May in Houston, Austin, Atlanta, Charlotte, Nashville, & Detroit. They are also booked to 3 festivals in May ‘23 - Daytona FL, Columbus OH & St. Louis - and will have more Services in August, including the Chicago Lallapalooza, plus Minneapolis, Denver, Salt Lake City, Portland Oregon, Spokane, Sacramento, Anaheim and then down to Mexico City. They have a crazy fan base in Mexico! 🇲🇽 Hopefully, they come somewhere near you in the not too distant future, I’d guess, and you’ll have a blast if you go see them! The list of great songs goes on and on and on…I’d stick to the official videos until you get a fuller understanding and appreciation for the band before diving into the fan videos - the sound quality is lacking on many of them so they’d color your perception of their abilities and performance skills. And know that one thing about this band is that there are the dozens & dozens of songs without videos that are every bit as good, or better, as those that do. Examples to pull up are: - I’ll - Hibana - Corallium - Moratorium - Why, Why, Why - Page - Take Me Higher - Flying High And then there’s their arch enemies “Band-Maiko” 😂 You should watch: - “Secret Maiko Lips” - “Gion-Cho” Band-Maid Members (Simple Version) - [ ] Miku (ME-coo), 31 - Rhythm Guitar, Second Vocals, Founder, Pigeon, Primary Lyricist, Red Flower 🌺 Chief Spokesperson, PO!! - [ ] Misa (ME-sah), 30 - Bass (5-string), Barefoot Assassin, pick/slap/pop/pluck - does she have any limits? - [ ] Akane (AH-kah-nay), 32 - Drums, Gorilla - [ ] Kanami (Kah-NAM-e), 31 - Lead Guitar, Princess, Primary Music Composer, “Mincho”! - [ ] Saiki (Psyche), 28 - Primary Vocalist, The Ice Queen, Quality Control, secondary lyricist, Blue flower 💎 Miku, Saiki, Akane, Misa & Kanami may become your favorite musicians on the planet…🤷🏻♂️🎼🎸🌍 Take care and enjoy the journey!!! 🤘🏼🎼🎸🔥🍺😀✌🏼

They are on their 10th anniversary tour US and Japan. I just saw them yesterday at Pointfest, and also a the weekend before, in Nashville TN. You just discovered them? Congrats. I hate "reaction videos" but your comments are spot on... they play like this live, they have catchy songs, tight musicianship, and play fast and rock.... The trope of the sweet gentle submissive Asian woman is that, a cliché'. Yes cute juxtaposing with rock, all intentional. They are not maids to CLEAN up your room but tear the place down. They are nice ladies but they are serious musicians and very hardworking and tenacious. In general Asian woman are NOT submissive and pander to men but strong and independent. They may play a part but in reality they are running the show.

Oh my gosh, you have opened the floodgates. Why do you love this? Because they may be the best rock group in the world today (I think they are). They are certainly the most creative band since the Beatles. (Yes, I stand by that statement!) Great reaction and analysis! You are going to get a lot of suggestions. First, a little background on the band: Saiki Atsumi - Lead vocals Born Feb 8, 1994 29 years old MISA - Bass Born Oct 15, 1992 30 years old Kanami Tono - Lead guitar, Main composer and arranger Born Sept 28, 1991 31 years old Miku Kobato - Rhythm guitar, backing vocal Born Oct 21, 1991 31 years old Akane Hirose - Drums Born Dec 14, 1990 32 years old Miku was working in a Maid Café after being in an idol group that didn’t break through. She envisoned the idea of a maid-band that plays hard rock and metal. She recruited Kanami, after finding a Kanami guitar cover on line; Kanami then recruited Akane, who recruited MISA. Akane and MISA had been students together at the Tokyo Music Academy. The group decided they needed more vocal “oomph”, and collectively recruited Saiki. Miku didn't know how to play guitar when they started, so Kanami has been teaching her. She's become good so fast that she is really adding to the music mix, and Maidiacs are daring to dream of a dual shred. The band was struggling early on, and in 2014, even as the label was considering dropping them, they posted a music video, “Thrill” which went viral globally. When they realized what was going on, it gave them the momentum to forge ahead, and they have now done multiple tours of Europe and the U.S. and are building a global fanbase who call themselves the Maidiacs. They have released seven full albums, as well as several EPs, singles and music videos. They have put out around 160 songs, covering a wide variety of styles and sounds, without any duds. They combine a punk vibe with instrumental virtuosity (two things that are often seen as being incompatible), and have done some amazing progressive-rock songs with a metal edge to them. They toured the U.S. in 2022 and sold out 14 cities in less than 48 hours. Their fan base skews heavily to actual practicing musicians. Some of those followed the band to multiple dates and documented everything on youtube-some of the footage is hilarious. I’ve seen them twice (2019 and 2022) and their shows are truly life-reaffirming. They are touring the U.S. twice more in 2023; So far no announcements of another European tour but it seems likely in 2024. Band-Maid are that rare band that sound perfect live, even better than in the studio. Here are more links: Freedom (Feb 14 2020) kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHnTpningqaWesk Domination (Feb 14 2020) kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5PcgnaAo5ulj8k Choose Me (Feb 14 2020) kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpTUmqeYjcycnbc Onset (Instrumental-insane!) kzbin.info/www/bejne/o4fVf2CglLqWZrc And an official MV, one of their most popular: Daydreaming (it’s a slower ballad, gorgeous and truly heart-wrenching): kzbin.info/www/bejne/iHTEloihp66nr7s If you want more background, I suggest you react to this classic interview. It's hilarious, it's insightful, you will learn their names for good, and their cuteness will destroy your brain. Oh, and they are completely nuts. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iGWzoJmphr6qpJY

Miku (rhythm guitar and second vocalist) is not wearing heels but platform shoes. She is only 5'0" so she wears platform shoes -- and yes, she often jumps in them. The bassist -- the tallest member of the band -- plays in stockinged feet. The lead guitarist wears "sensible shoes", the drummer wears running shoes, and the lead vocalist wears thigh-high boots with high heels. She is the fashionista of the band, a part time model and singer-dancer. So, even in their footwear, they are all individuals. They have maid-like outfits, but over the years they have adapted them to the character of each member. Favourite track? "From Now On" or "Blooming" or "Puzzle" or ... everything else.
@GymRockCrew Жыл бұрын
I don't care if they're platforms or stiletos lol! The fact that she's jumping with elevated footwear and a guitar is insane! Thanks for sharing all this :)

*"No God"* is from their 2021 album "Unseen World." They released a live video from this same Tokyo Garden Theater concert of an older song *"Puzzle"* from their 2017 album "Just Bring It". They have music videos of an instrumental *"from now on"* and an anime-style music video of the song *"Unleash!!!!!"* from their 2022 album "Unleash". There's not an official music video but if you can find a fan cam of *"Hate?"* from the same album, it's awesome. Two other music videos from "Unseen World are *"Manners"* and *"After Life"* are pretty good too, and *"Black Hole"* ... no official music video but there is a live stream from 2021 and more recent fan cams. Just pick something. It's all excellent.

Funny you should mention Misa the bassist looking dangerous, they call her The Barefoot Assassin. First she doesn’t like wearing shoes on stage, second her skills on bass are dangerous. She said in an interview once her secret power was alcohol, she usually has a bottle of whiskey on top her amp in concert. They all are awesome, but being an old bassists myself I’m a bit biased.

Thanks, Ramona, you really hit some of the main points of why Band-Maid is one of the biggest forces in contemporary rock. BTW, noticed in your description: "She loves sharing inspiring stories of Fit Rock and Metal Musicians to help fellow Metalheads overcome life's battles." Saiki, Band-Maid's lead vocalist, has an inspiring story. Back in 2017, her throat was deteriorating and eventually needed surgery. She worked extensively with a vocal coach on her voice and the strength of her core. And man, does it ever show: she has strength and endurance that she didn't always have in the past. There's a great documentary on Saiki and the stuff about her struggles starts around kzbin.info/www/bejne/aX7bkKWQo9aUr8k
