Still got mixed feelings for Re-recorded Schizophrenia. Although I loved Bestial and Morbid 2025 vr, I don't think the new Schizo didn't get my heart due to the fact I have always loved the original the way it is, with all the imperfections. For us Brazilians it was the Mark one of death/thrash and it became a reference of how a metal album should sound at the time. The raw energy and the bestiality was there and the Lo fi production alongside the criativity and technical (thanks to mr Kisser) was part of it all.
@coldacre3 ай бұрын
agreed 100%. it didnt warrant a re-recording. it doesnt bring anything new to the table. the original is better
@Melodeath003 ай бұрын
@@coldacre Hard disagree. I can count the amount of albums on which I complain about bad production on one hand, buit Schizophrenia is probably the worst one I can think of. It's waaaaaay worse than the 2 first ones. There's just something about the guitar frequencies that's physically painful to my ears, and I listen to a lot of 80s/early 90s Thrash, Death and Black Metal with dogshit production. If there ever was an album that needed to be rerecorded, this was the BY FAR most worthy candidate.

Disagree. I’m also a huge fan of the original, but this brings a lot to the table, the tightness and crisp sound just rendered those songs the sound they deserve.

Discovered Sepultura sometime after release of Arise. Grew up in a small town, parents refused to pay for cable, local radio station was garbage. Bought Arise because the of the cover art. Got home and popped it in the shit player I had. They were a great change from Metallica and Megadeth. Not long after discovering Arise they release Chaos AD. None of my metalhead friends liked them for the longest time. Sepultura brought a whole different world in their lyrics and their sound made them stand out.

Yes, I second that. Documenting Sepultura from the early days till the Chaos AD era. Listened to this album in its entirety at the gym today. Total fucking banger! People were staring at me while I played air guitar in between reps, it was great! Although the production is obviously far better, I feel it still maintained its edge and raw energy. Very cool how Max kept the reverb effect in his vocals to give it that 80’s feel. I plan on jamming this entire album at the gym again tomoro 🤘🏼

My criticism lies with my criticism for just about every metal record released these days...the, what I like to call, Pro Tools drum sound. Over processed, homogonized drum sounds are killing me! The drums on every record sound exactly the same. They all use a formula and they are quantized to the point where it may as well just be a drum machine. I used to be able to identify bands strictly by the drum and guitar sounds, nowadays, that's much harder to do. This is a great re-recording, even though I don't like the modern drum sounds.

I do not see it as giving it a new life: It's only to cater to an audience lured into thinking they got back to their roots. Of course the execution is better as they're 30+ years older than when it was recorded. It's all about releasing a new product to remain on tour, get back some royalties direct into their pockets and giving to the current trends of revisiting the past which, obviously, was more glorious than the present for most of those artists.
