Just like 95% of drummers I have seen play electronic kits, you can't help but overplay, as if playing a million beats, countless FAT hits, crashes, etc sounds cool. Actually, discipline on an E kit is much more impressive. That takes musical maturity, rather than a kid's urge to just go off. My 2 cents.
