Well, I owned a Alesis Kit like 3 or 4 years ago. It was their high end top of the line product at the time. I owned it for about 3 to 4 Months and than returned it to the seller. In those few months the ride cymbal trigger broke at least 3 times and the kick drum mesh ripped 2 times. I than bought a Roland set and it holds up with my playstyle since than. It just now starts to show some signs of use, but i think that is perfectly okay, because I play it almost daily. What I think is funny tho, that their marketing claims never changed and they still proclaim that roland kits are too expensiv and overpriced...

I like Brandon and his content but yea, this is more of an advertisement than a review. No negative thoughts at all on the kit? Having a hi-hat move while playing it as closed would drive me nuts. More competition is definitely a good thing, but Roland has been ahead of the competition for so long and has proven their reliability. In my case I’ve had my TD-15 for 10 years and have never had an issue with it despite literally thousands of hours. Roland is also very compatible with other brands, so adding Lemon cymbals and such is a breeze. In my case, I’m going to purchase a TD-27 and combine the best of my existing kit with the new kit to make a larger one (unless Roland announces a new kit soon). For this kit, the module does look pretty nice. And having a large bass drum is great as well. I think it looks like a decent kit for sure and for people that go with it I don’t necessarily doubt it will be a good and fun kit. But if you are going to spend $3,000 plus, why not get the digital hi-hat and digital ride that Roland offers for a similar price point? And why not get proven reliability over a long term unknown? Just my thoughts as someone who is happy with their 10 year old kit and has been given no reason to change brands.

Perfectly timed video. Imminent new living arrangements are meaning I'm having to seriously consider an E-Kit as my main practise set, something I've been resisting for as long as I can because, like you, I've never been a fan. If this can convert you though I'm suddenly very hopeful it won't be all bad 😆 Going to be looking into this! And, as always, such a good video!
@YourBroOreo6 ай бұрын
I would recommend getting the Roland TD 27kv2 in this price range. The alesis strata prime is pretty dope looking but the Roland has better functionality with digital ride, hi hats, and snare drum. They are incredible and no other electronic drums compare. Besides Roland I would also recommend an Efnote kit. They are acoustic design, and designed to just be played, so you don’t have to mess with settings. They are very fun to play.

The Strata Prime e-kit has some great features. The problem is that the kit does have some flaws and issues that many reviewers have pointed out. For the price it is a little expensive. If they fix all the known issues, the kit would be worth the price. Alesis definitely is stepping up their game and coming out with more professional e-kits, but as of now, I can not recommend Alesis until they come out with a high-end e-kit that works as it should without any issues. You do mention that this is not a beginner e-kit, and the Drumeo version would be better for beginners. I disagree. In my opinion, if you want to learn to play a drum set and an e-kit is the way to go, you need one that performs like an accustic kit. The budget friendly "beginner" e-kits do not have the sensitivity, playability, sound, or functionality of an accustic kit or a high-end e-kit. This means if you learn on a lower-end budget friendly e-kit and then go to play an accustic kit or a high-end e-kit, you will find it hard as there is a relearning curve to get used to a propper drum kit. If you want to learn guitar, do you first start with a toy guitar?
@BrandonScottDrums6 ай бұрын
Good points made but I disagree with some things you mentioned. In my experience teaching young students, a beginner is not focused on “sensitivity, sound, or stick control” they are more focused on coordination and hitting the drum at the right time and right spot. I agree things don’t exactly translate when moving to an acoustic kit, but not everyone has the luxury of playing an acoustic kit or forking out $3500 to find out if they enjoy playing the drums. I think that makes a cheaper e-kit a good option for someone wanting to get their toes wet.
@sashaman12346 ай бұрын
@@BrandonScottDrumsagreed. Beginner students can’t wrap their mind around sensitivity there are higher priority things to them like looking flashy or playing cool beats. Later they’ll care about dynamics and that’s ok

I hope Alesis sells more of these than they can make. Just because I'm tired of half way decent electronic drum sets costing 8-10k. The only way E-Drums will get cheaper is if people buy this thing. There is no damn reason why E drums should cost that much. Maybe I could see for the first launch to try and re-up the manufacturing and software development investment. Electronic drum sets are the biggest scams in the economy. It goes 1.Electronic Drums 2. College Tuition 3. Nigerian Prince 4. Day Trading DVD"s 5. NFT's

The thing that blew my mind is coupled with EZ Drummer you can get studio quality drum recordings in minutes in your DAW. Most people would never know the difference, especially when it comes to most popular music these days. And that's just with the $400-500 Alesis kits. Having this extra "feel" and those features there that give you the possibilities and freedom of an acoustic kit would just make it that much more open to being indistinguishable from a real kit in recordings of any genre. The one thing is having to learn how to play the electronic kit and get it to do what you want compared to an acoustic kit. You have to figure that out and it doesn't translate the same from acoustic to electronic. You have to play them a bit differently.

Hey Brandon.I just found out about electric drums acoustic design. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but do you need to tune the bass drum ( like how you would with regular acoustic drums). I am aware of adjusting the mesh heads for feel. Would the acoustic of the room effect the sound of the bass drum. Or is the shell just for show?

Please Help I’m thinking of switching to an E kit exclusively because I cannot hear my acoustic drums through my in ears and Mics without turning the volume of the music up too loud and further damaging my hearing the bleed is too much even with custom in ear monitors and gunshot headphones over that When I’m just practicing I like to just sit behind the kit with no hearing protection any hearing protection I’ve ever used makes the drum sound crappy so I just play cold turkey. I can’t do this anymore my tinnitus is really bad. I’ve done that through my whole childhood. I’m 44 now I played on the Alesis strata prime at guitar Center, but I could only play on it a little bit with no songs to play along too just drums From what little I played on it I very much liked it Is it safe to assume that if I got an kit with headphones on playing music through with drum-less tracks that I would be able to hear much better and have better clarity and a better experience than my current set up with Drum and Mics what would be the difference between the two in clarity balance of sound with playing along to songs with in ears or headphones in your experience? Also can you make the rims on the Alesis Strata Prime sound like efx cymbals splash/china etc or can they only be made to sound like rim?crossstick clicks THANK YOU to anyone for responding I appreciate it. @dutt4925Ай бұрын
You can change the rims to pretty much anything you want. Also.. Yes. From what you explained i highly suggest you get an e-drum kit. It makes volume adjustments and mixing of different sources to your liking just so much easier. just remember not to build up bad habbits such as just adjusting the volume instead of actually playing dinamically and adjusting how hard you hit.
