Damn.. first drumkit ive seen with a butt kicker.. is this supposed to mimic the thump of the bass drum? I think you should get those wearable ones like the "Woojer Strap Edge"/"Woojer Vest" or "SubPac M2 Wearable Bass". Funny coz i do simracing and we get a lot of these bass shakers and to see it in drumming if fresh for me.. BUTTT.. this might do it, edrums does have that missing thump and this is the way to go to feel it in my chest!

@@ClayFunk is it possible to DIY these? so you go drum module aux out/headphone out----->nobsound amp------>tactile transducers for kick sound only
@ClayFunk Жыл бұрын
I'm not 100% sure, it has a crossover so you can somewhat isolate the Hz but it's better to just come out of the module kick TRS output. Aux out will cause full kit haptic.
@trevorbelmont4633 Жыл бұрын
@@ClayFunk im not sure what module kick TRS output means, but i have a td17 not sure how would that be..
@ClayFunk Жыл бұрын
I just googled your module. It would be harder (not impossible) with yours unfortunately due to no output separation on the rear. On the Alesis Strike Pro or TD50 mods it gives you separated outputs on the rear of the module. Your TD17 stereo outputs would have to run into the buttkicker and be crossover under 100 - 70 Hz so it would only respond to the lower. I find that the unit heats up and shut off when full kit it involved. It can be done though. I hope that helps.

Hopefully a very long time from now due to my facility and playing, I rely on rebounding versus burying the stick into the drum below the surface (when you see drum heads with dents) that’s from drummer playing below the surface.

@@ClayFunk Well good you play relaxed which is the key that most people miss, You also play very nice where did Your 8 inch tom disappear to i seen it then it was gone in the video ? i hope to set mine up more the way You have it and put most of the drums on the shelves too i not gonna play on a thousand Drums i usually like 2 to 3 hang toms and 2 floor Toms and a snare and the 22 inch Bass 1 high hat a ride a crash and a splash. i also like to have one extra tom not too far form the snare kind of like Dave Weckl has his kit set up i recently added a Ludwig Accent Drive Red Sparkle 5-Piece Drum Set i pout the 2 tons where my Alesis use to be. i am so undecided even though i finally have a 22 inch bass i converted and feel like i have a complete Alesis Strike kit i am (all converted to electronic) i am still so undecided on a lot even though i love the 16x16 Floor tom and the Bass Drum more i have not decided yet to keep the two huge hang toms or use the Alesis on rack like YOU have it i guess i miss the old days of Gretch and Ludwig i use to have along with a Zildjian Ride Sizzle i miss a lot as well and hard to find a real one. i bought my new Ludwig too fast finding out it is a beginner kit. but i converting it anyways. and the Cymbals are terrible my friend called me on the phone he thought i was making dinner and cleaning pots as i was testing out the high hats omg they are terrible from that Ludwig kit i got. smiles

How do you like your strike kit? I had a nitro mesh then upgraded to a crimson 2 SE. It's a great kit but it has a few shortcomings like the snare occasionally double triggering, the bass pad not being sensitive at lower dynamics, the ride bell zone having a very small sweet spot, and the cymbal chokes having very specific grab points. Part of me wants to upgrade again to the strike pro, another part of me wants to just give up on alesis and go Roland.

Sound like you just need to make adjustments to settings to person taste. As mentioned in my psychology of electric drumming video. One must become one in the electronic ecosystem. Acoustics will never be electric and electric will never be an acoustic. Hope that helps! 🙏🏾

Thanks for sharing, future videos will be aimed more about tweaking the mods sounds. Even though I’m not claiming to be an audio guru. As mentioned in other videos it’s more about the journey. One could easily purchase EZ/Superior and call it a wrap. But, the beauty of our passion, each ear will still like what they want to hear 🙏🏾

Great set up, sound and playing! Strike Pro SE looks like the best 'bang for buck' electronic kit out there right now. On board sounds are excellent but I'd be keen to see how this kit works triggering EZ Drummer or similar software. Could I ask what you're using for the cowbell trigger?
@ClayFunk Жыл бұрын
Thank you! You nailed it on “bang for buck.” I’m using a Pintech Tube Trigger for the cowbell and it’s being held by a splash cymbal holder by Tama. I’m purposely avoiding softwares currently. It’s more of a personal challenge to see what I can get out of this module and sharpen some skills along the journey lol…🤷🏾♂️

Have had mine for several years, and still love it. I must admit that I don't use the onboard module much however. Not because it's bad or anything. It's just that I have Superior Drummer 3. Which is, well ,superior, in every way for recording. In my opinion, of course. And SD3 sounds as realistic as you are likely to find.
@VrantusOfficial Жыл бұрын
Ez drummer is a beast. They can be easily programmed, simply launch n play. The module sound is decent, but not as dynamic, there are tons of packs and stuff out there that can be used to create an awesome sound. Ez drummer can basically have the most diverse sound. But modules can sound good too. I don’t judge many. Btw, 14 age i am. Nice drumming skills, i can play drums, just that the bass petal is the one I stutter with, like my feet isn’t fit for it lol.
@ClayFunk Жыл бұрын
Hi Josiah, Thanks for stopping by! Cool to hear from a younger player into tech drumming. From what you are describing with your feet sounds more like a technique and pedal adjustment. I will be diving deeper on audio with my module sounds in upcoming videos. For me, I'm purposefully not using those softwares. The challenge is to see what I can get out of these mods.
