Cha-cha-cha-chatterbaits are my jam! They are just so dang versatile. I loves em. Got a big ol' 8.5 lb. catfish on one this past Sunday. He hit it so hard he came very close to ripping the rod out of my hands. Also, I saw a snakehead take down a gosling just the other day. You love fishing top water frogs; you should equally love fishing toads. Fish a toad and keel weighted hook along the bank. Bass munch them and swim away like a dog given a giant Scooby snack. They often hit them immediately because frogs normally jump off the bank and swim to the bottom. Let it hit bottom, swim it up and let sink to the bottom wee-wee-wee all the way home. When they strike, do not jerk it away like some spasmodic attack from a rattlesnake; wait as you’re supposed do for a top water frog. Reel up tight and give them a body slam hook set. If this doesn’t sound like fun, you need to seek therapy. (Lizards and all small plastics) Adding a few small or large split shot to the shaft of any EWG style hook lessens snags on worms, lizards, and stick-baits. This option replaces Texas rigs, I now seldom use. This is no different than using a keel weighted swim bait hook. Small plastics swim and fall more naturally. In addition, you can add a small plastic bead in front of the hook to reduce the bait pulling down the hook fishing dense cover. The bead also protects the knot from damage from sharp cover. The downside is it requires retying line to replace the plastic. However, a screw-lock style hook cures that problem and retying is not a big problem. You also can add rattles, blades, treble and stinger hooks if you wish. Any size soft plastic lure now can transform into a jig, swim jig, Texas rig, underspin, jerk bait and a swimbait in one. Making a perfect system for bank or stream anglers wanting to limit the tackle they carry. (Something to think about) If you keep a detail written record of where and how you caught bass over 15”, two-pounds, or five-pounds that is where you fish first. When you go to a new lake, pond, stream, river or another planet do this. Soon you have many proven spots that fish live. Better still, you completely end fishless days.
@DEBOSFishing5 жыл бұрын
All great points man. The rage rig is what I first head that called (using a rage craw and a keel weighted hook). I used to fish that a lot on top of grass. It doesn't bullet straight down through like a standard Texas rig. Instead, it sits on top. I've got a vid coming up soon that gives a lot of the same information that you discussed. Thanks for always leaving fun informative comments, Gizmo!

Bro you need to watch the Japanese guys fishing floating worms for bass that techniques are sick,they have a floating worm and put like one nail on one side so when the worm sink is stik up and the hook is in the middle of the worm so when he shake the rod the worm do a tantalizing dance like calling the bass,is in the jackall lures channel look for it

Oh! The Neko rig. I do like that. I haven't got it out this year but need to. Had good success with it last year.

@@DEBOSFishing You should try out the Under spins with the Keitech's I have caught a ton of fish. I mean in the hundreds this spring. I fish with everything but the Flashy Swimmer seems to bag 75% of the fish I catch every time and every place. I just started to record my fishing and the vids are showing the same thing. They work and since I am only about 3 hours south of you, they should work for you too. If you need a review bait, check them out.

@@smbonna I do enjoy the underspin as well. I haven't had any luck this year. I've been tossing it but the water has been really muddy. It had been a strange spring.
@smbonna5 жыл бұрын
@@DEBOSFishing Yes it has been a strange one for sure. Went to several of my fishing spots for the first time this year and the weeds are out of control. Can't even fish them. As for the under spin gig. I only catch them on the silver blade. Nothing on the gold. And I only catch them on the Shad color. (Purple back with silver bottom) No other colors seem to work. And most of the big ones I am catching are in water with less than 1' vis. These fish are a picky bunch this spring. Are you getting any top water action up there yet?
