Also, it’s not even practical items. I could understand spending all of that money if the whole house was getting rugs or if the curtains served as some kind of draft protection/weather proofing; or even if the value of either increased over time. Well on the outside like many couples on social media look happy and expensive, but look at all that financial crap and stress they are going through! The smart ones who get along with their parents buy a multigeneration home altogether share all expenses like I did. No stress, no hassle and the bank respects us all. Babysitters for kids at all times and I waited when I was financially stable and have traveled and done all the things I wanted in my 30s. Most of my old acquaintances were jealous because they did not feel like doing the same as I because they did not get along with their parents and preferred maintaining the image of we struggle alone which is stupid because most got their house co-signed by their parents along with the car and wedding paid. At least they are smart to wait before having kids. Many just have them and regret them due to financial or personal issues. When she mentioned he is the dream guy because he spends on her wtv she wants...well that is a typical women that digs for gold and gets replacement when she has less. He looks like he is whipped. Do not believe the image. What people show you is what they want you to see. Now they are financially in deep sh*t and are desperate and need help.
@meaganglaser2 жыл бұрын
@@--M--1111I get what you're saying, but this also comes across as you saying "the "smart" thing is to come from a large, financially stable and loving family". Maybe judge your acquaintances less for having "personal issues" and "not getting along with thier parents." You might not know the whole story. Most people dont' confide the darkest, most painful parts of their past to "acquaintances." But you need to know, parents who can co-sign loans or pay for weddings might NOT be parents it is safe or smart to live with. And you will very rarely know from the outside looking in who the real monsters are. Money isn't the only virtue. Plenty of people have parents who have money, and are incredibly abusive. And society loooves to pressure people to put up with abuse from parents. People love to tell you that you need to learn to just "get along" with them, as if everyone who has family problems is just a spoilt teenager who doesn't appreciate a loving family. People love to say things like "but they're family!" or "they meant well" or "but they're your parents, of course they love you." Not everyone can live with family. It's not stupid to choose your mental health over a financial gian.

We have an ugly dining room table and not a ton of furniture in our living room, but we don't want to finance anything abd are prioritizing saving for needs (i.e. hot water tank, new shingles). Lmao The prize money she offers is more than all my debt, and I could never afford to just drop $600 on a yard project without saving for months for it first. Really puts things in perspective. I no longer feel any shame.

That's reasonable. When she goes on maternity leave they will have even less money.
@chilaeyaezell21712 жыл бұрын
@@solidstate9451 I agree! My partner and I plan on having a child in the future, however we both have agreed that will be after we have eradicated our non-mortgage debt. It is important to us for me to stay home at least the first year with the baby so eliminating our debt, fully funding our emergency fund, and reducing our overall expenses is essential to being able to live comfortably on the loss of income that will result from me not working.

Beautiful home but why, why, why would you buy silk draperies and expensive rugs when you plan to have kids running around on them spilling, pooping and vomiting on them? Kids are messy.
@s.e.75642 жыл бұрын
Probably the same reason why they are buying things they can't afford: child mentality and needing a reality check
@rebeccashields96262 жыл бұрын
To be fair a really quality wool Persian rug cleans up incredibly well and is very stain resistant. I am all for buying quality pieces that last, but only with cash when you can actually afford it.

Most likely they can't get even close to what they paid for. By the way these 2 made decisions and valued priorities, there's a big chance there were misrepresented with exaggerated qualities.

jut remember her catchphrase...the shit gonna hit the fan at one point...so saves money. My job was so secure and I couldn't see how I could have money problem because the money flow. Then covid-19. The shit hit the fan, my job lockdown for almost 2 years ( entertainment sector). But I followed her advice, and everything was ok, my savings help me a lot. But I thought so much often about her catchphrse during the lock down
