Hey T.E great vid man. Got a question on tactics for you. I've been using cav as my frontline arrow absorbing forward pushing force and all has gone well, I've been destroying armies 3x my army's size. My question is how do I or when should I tell them to dismount and use them as infantry? I ask because I recently fought an Aserai force 3x my size and barely survived, my cav got shredded at a bridge defense and I kited with archers. I could barely give orders and I had to square my archers and give them the hold fire command we were able to hold out, honestly I got lucky. I use Sturgian Druchenik Champions. Should I have told them to dismount? would shielded infantry held up better? My apologies for the long winded comment, but I'm a Bannerlord enthusiast.

I think unless you have VERY few infantry, you should usually keep your horseman ON horse. I prefer a 2-thick shield-wall for defense, maybe even two divisions like this to slow the initial enemy inertia. I would DISMOUNT cavalry if I had either 1. NO infantry(then maybe 30-50% of the cav would be dismounted), or 2. I was on a terrain highly unfavorable to cav(thick forest).
@dez0165 күн бұрын
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions I barely had infantry, I run 4 cav units. Next time I'm in a similar situation I'll dismount 1 or 2. Thanks for the advice.

Did you dismount the horses on the bridge? Even dismounting the horses on the far side of the bridge and pull the dismounted now infantry back to your end? I've done this in a village also to slow down opposing cav and infantry charges in narrow quarters. I mention just to clarify that you are using the horses for something rather than dismounting just for infantry.

@@arrgylerawrgyle3784this is a great idea dismount farisde to slow them down and post up the dismounted cav on my side. Should’ve done that. In this particular battle it all fell apart when they sent in axe wielding infantry, they chopped up my cav and I had to retreat and kite with the archers. Looking back I should have dismounted a cav unit to slow down those shock troops and permit my archers to work

Great video and phenomenal defense. I’ve decided this castle is where I’ll start my kingdom for my sturgia playthrough. I wondering if you could explain how you go about choosing cities and castles for your kingdom. Do you choose the cities/castles with the best defense layouts or do you try and take and hold a region? And if so to the latter what is your favorite area to defend and why? Throughout your videos I’ve seen you defend from everywhere so I was just wondering how you go about choosing where to defend?
@Enterprise4Life4 күн бұрын
My opinion of choosing a castle to start would be a castle like veron castle tier 1 walls cuz its easy to funnel them after destroying the ram, ab comber castle, you can look at hia vid for that, the one behind the castle thats next to amiyatas (idk the spelling but you should know what i mean), another i think the castle is like takor castle or somethin. Penn cannoc is easy to defend once you figure out how to position your archers not that its really needed once the ram is gone.

My favorite castle is the ones like veron castle cuz its real simple to defend.

Yes, for sure. In my Aserai campaign, for example, I identified and chose two 'anchor' castles as food stores and a major city(Danustica) as a capital to anchor the Kingdom...

@@HeadlessHorsemanProductionswell in my defense i did get sieged at veron castle like 20x in a row by 2k vlandians, 1.5k aserai 1k battanians, and another 2.5k empire armies when i first took that castle in my ongoing sturgia campaign. Then it moved to abcomer castle against vlandia until 2 weeks ago when vlandia declared war for the 500th time sieging it for the 10000th time while i was beating aserai armies

Hi new to this channel. This is absolutely great. I watch this while I play it myself. I’m running a strictly infantry and archers Sturgian force. I stick my heavy spear men in front in shield wall formation. Then I put my heavy axe men and heroic line breakers behind them so they can throw axes. Then I put my archers up high so they can shoot down. My problem is going on the offensive with this type of army how would you do that?
@HeadlessHorsemanProductions5 күн бұрын
Going offensive is ALWAYS harder without cavalry. You'll have to use terrain as best as you can, shield walls to protect your infantry to close and use flanks to swallow up enemy forces, but archers will kite you, enemy cav will counter charge and hold you back and it'll be a constant game of chase. I'd run 30-40% archers, if you're not already, but I think it's a mistake to pass up on the Sturgian cavalry, especially their Javalin Cavalry(which is nasty).

@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions I run about 25% archers and usually I can get them to push me when I beat them with arrows, but the Vlandian sharp shooters are a problem. I run both my infantry units in shield wall until I get to their formation then when the two shield walls meet, I spread out my heavy ax and heroic line breaker units and tell them to charge so they just envelope and flank the enemy units and I keep my shield wall positioned there to keep them from running past them and going to my archers
