So I almost fought my first ever siege defence in Epicrotia (spelling) last night. However, I fucked up. I thought sally out was the action to assault the siege engines. So there I was, outside the city walls with 400 middling units vs 1400 stacked Battanians. But I played it out cause I gotta live up to Uncle Headless tactical doctrine, right. Adversity is entertainment. I used the very same Epicrotia bridge defence I've seen you use on the channel. Archers on the rise, javaline skirmisher screen. infantry square at the bridge kiting to the side. Shock troops in reserve and cavalry constantly countercharging once the attackers stall. Textbook. We lost 33 men, and the enemy lost everything, including Calidog. It was glorious slaughter!

I set all my javelin infantry to sit back and hold fire and I used my archers for flanking fire on the gate while my none skirmish infantry held the gate until a reinforcement wave was coming before I set my archers on the wall and ran my wildlings and other javelin troops out and counter charged them and just shredded them with the javelins and archer fire on the walls worked like a fuckin charm and was what finally broke the enemy.

@HeadlessHorsemanProductions3 ай бұрын
I'm happy to answer since I have a moment number one yes several mods most are listed in the video description and also I have used mods in the past that made enemy Lords stronger thereby making their late game armies much stronger than most people encounter. Two yes it's a vanilla ax but only if you have crafting skill three skills in the 3:30 range are certainly not uncommon late in a banner Lord campaign even people who play for 10 or 15 years often achieve 300 plus in skills. When you understand that I have fought probably 100 or even 500 times as many battles as the normal campaign sees and much of your primary experience and weapons and other skills go up with battle then you can understand why his skill set is so high

@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions I have been checking a bunch out! One last question if you don't mind: Where does your death match campaign series start? I have been trying to find the first one so i can watch in order
@HeadlessHorsemanProductions3 ай бұрын
@@slider-arkofwar463 Unfortunately I never chronologically ordered them very well. I'm probably doing a disservice to both the viewer and myself by not organizing them better. Remind me again another time(when I HAVE more time) and I'll try and make a playlist. Might not be perfect, but it will have at least SOME flow to it.

Why didn't you put any archers on the wall right above the enemies ?
@HeadlessHorsemanProductions3 ай бұрын
Sometimes in battles I just forget stuff - other times it's too risky. I also was worried they would rampage on us from the flank...

I'm curious about what your opinion on this would be. Do you enable the AI to pick your companions perks, or do you do them all manually? Does the AI do a decent job at auto picking the perks, or should I not even bother trying it. BTW I love these seige battles
@HeadlessHorsemanProductions3 ай бұрын
No no, absolutely DO not let them. The AI does wacky things. SPECIALIZE your companions, either as warriors or governors(or *maybe* a smith). You want to have about 60-70% warriors in my opinion and 20-30% governors/party leaders/specialists.

@HeadlessHorsemanProductions3 ай бұрын
Yeah I think that secondary defense is very viable and I'll consider that still, I think there's value in the holding the main defense at least for a while. If you give up your first offense right away in the second gets blown open here in real trouble...

Thank you for the video. It was great. Do you plan on getting into total war ?
@HeadlessHorsemanProductions4 ай бұрын
Maybe maybe... I'll need another venue at some point. What's the best total war these days for tactics and huge battles?
@nachiketamishra8163 ай бұрын
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions Of all the total war games, total war shogun 2, Rome 2, Three kingdoms and pharaoh are good in historical context. Shogun 2 for its simplicity and fun, Rome 2 for its sheer width of factions and replayability and three kingdoms for its character specific game. Pharaoh is the newest game and perhaps the most optimized one. If you want some fantasy, Warhammer 3 is indeed the best. No doubt about it. There are a few other games based on their time period, but the most player active games are Warhammer 3 and Rome 2.

Shouldn't have fled the gate lol I think you could have prevented the retreat by: 1: stopping your forces whenever they are getting in the gate, make them go back. Ik you know this one but i've seen you forgetting to do that multiple times in this one. 2: your archers should be more like a like than a square, those too far and those too close are way less efficient, sometimes its even better to do line then loose, just to prevent this. When you already retreated, you could have made your strategy more efficient by putting half your archers on the sidewall, so when the enemy is poring troops from the gate the shoot hem down as they come. You had too many archers on the gate defense, some of them were not even shooting cuz the formation was too big.

As long as I have walls and two catapults there isn’t a siege defense I don’t take. Without a way for them to get through the gate, the ai always loses.

Ok, so how does it feel making the rest of bannerlord youtube seem inconsequential in numbers alone? :D jokes aside, Lotsa fun checking the tactics and don't worry about the swearing thing. Hey. What’s your audio recording setup? Loving the content but I can’t help but feel it could be elevated with higher quality audio in your voiceovers. If you care for it I’d be happy to contribute towards a new recording fund

I mostly use a HyperX Cloud III, wireless headphones. It's not a funding problem for sure, though that's very generous. I'm probably going to punch the monetize button eventually anyways to help with some of the costs of the channel(file hosting/editing/etc), especially since KZbin is already advertising without my permission... My main problem is trying to find the ideal recording setup. Advice would be very welcomed!

I remember you mentioning that defending archers have infinite ammo, so why didn't you place some archers and the wall left of your square of the second defending area? The archers should have been able to shoot even into the tunnel from above all time. Or is there smth I don't see? Like at 1:00:39 on the wall on the left leading behind you. And why don't you refill your javs? And after all those questions: Really fucking good job! This is so entertaining to watch. I am continously on the edge watching this, nearly screaming fuck you and fuck you too as well towards my screen xD The music alone is fitting so well, but together with the slomos and the own knowledge how difficult this is to pull off actually, just epic indeed.
