Every single word of yours is very very true. Tamil film industry missed her. I love her character. My grandfather (Pudukkottai) was acted in dramas. Acted in Miss Malini and Chandralekha. And worked as a teacher. He was expired in GG's house itself-got all the news from our father. He is no more. Yesterday only I saw Umraao Jaan. I don't know the language. But understand the story. I have watched the interview of Rekha with Simi Garewal in DD.She spoke frankly about many things;about how the Bombay film world commented on her.Kuthi (Bitch) is the word she told to Simi. This word was used to pass comments on her. I remember in eighties sge used to write column in newspaper abd film magazine on Beauty. When I was staying in Matunga Bombay one day around 12 pm bews came that Rekha tried to commit suicide and admitted in hospital.At that time, her AFFAIR with Vinod Mehra was known. In the evening newspaper I read that it was for food poison she was admitted in hospital! The upma she ate had cockroach etc.Her role as a teenager in Telugu movie Rengula Ratinam was to support her mother. financially. We in Bombay liked her role in Khoobsoorat with Ashok kumar.Then memorable Umrao Jaan film.After Savitri came Gemini Ganesan was with her only and it was reported thatPushpavalli had grudge against Savitri on this score.Since she is a family member of yours you can talk on matters hitherto known to you only.Everything depends on time.Vyjayanthimala &Hemamalini ruled in their period.Rekha took time to peak in her carreer.

Madam I met Rekha at Gulmarg when I was 15 years old.She was so beautiful looking with thick hair.She was very sweet to me and she gave her autograph which I saved for so many years .Not at 55 I am still starstruck as far as Rekha is concerned.Today whenever I sing on smule I automatically look out for Rekha’s song either from the movie Ghar or Ghazal from Umraojaan.You have so nicely spoken about her struggle and her simple desires as a woman,how much she has helped her family.But I have tears in my eyes when I think she hardly had anyone to confide her sorrows when her mother chose this little girl to become the breadwinner for brood of siblings.I think it was not fair on her mother’s part to keep getting married and having so many kids and putting the whole burden on the little Rekha’s shoulders.But Rekha has never spoken against her mother,but very gracefully enacted her roles as a daughter,as a sister,a sister in law with lot of compassion.I think her family can never repay back what she has done to them.Rekha oru thodarkadaithan🤔🥲🥰
