Hi Brian. Nice to see you! I’ve had my Baratza for many years and think it’s almost perfect. Baratza provides the same amazing level of customer support as you and Igor so I am always happy to see you promoting their products..

0:12 Pro tip, if you’re going to use two cameras, you’ll have to look at the other camera when you switch to it. If not, it just looks silly with the narrator staring off into nowhere. 🤷♀️

Can you simply put your paper coffee filter in place of the grinds hopper, and have it grind directly into the paper filter ?

what is that awesome storage device you use for your coffee beans that was briefly shown? 4:04-4:07
@@ryan93c11, yep, that was a "video stop... Rewind" moment for me also. Thanks for posting the link! 😎

Wonder which one is better between this and the new grinder from Oxo.

I never keep beans in the hopper because I constantly switch between beans. What I do is weigh the right amount of beans, put them in the hopper and grind. This means my grinder runs on empty a lot (especially to get the last few beans), is this a bad thing?

Can you re-grind coffee in this grinder? I got coffee ground at the store but it’s too coarse for espresso, so was wondering if I could run it through this machine on a finer setting.

What is that strange jar that you pulled the coffee beans out of? Is it made to keep the air out? Is it available to purchase? 👀

Hello Brian, this machine does not meet Turkish coffee standards if the finest grind size is 215 microns (since it requires 80-160 microns of grinding)
@RichardFreeberg5 жыл бұрын
Hmm. Not a great review of a pretty nice machine. As another has pointed out, it will not do a real Turkish fine grind. Close but no cigar. Turkish is ground to the consistency of powdered sugar. Also, this is an "encore" to the prior Baratza machine - somewhat different and hopefully improved. One of the features missing is the mechanical, count down, timer switch - replace by a rotary 4 position on/off/on/off. I used the prior generation of the same grinder for close to twenty years - till the internal "paddles" that push the grind around and out the output chute completely wore out, gone, and disappeared! This is why I bought a brand new Baratza Encore last week! The Baratza company deserves credit for selling various parts for its current AND legacy machines, even the prior generation, and is actively supporting a program of 'repair' rather than trashing their old machines. My poor old machine was just too far gone... And the best part is it is very reasonably priced. The grinder mills may be made in Europe but the machine is made in Taiwan and seems to be a quality build.

A little better quality of grind compared to Capresso Infinity but messy i.e., leaves much more ground coffee on counter.

This is a conical burr grinder. For French press, you're way way better off going with a flat burr grinder however size burrs your budget can buy for max consistency. Conical burrs simply can't match flat burrs - especially for coarser grinds.

DONT BUY FROM BARATZA, we got a defective encore (ie. the grind setting didnt make fine grinds, it only did coarse). We immediately returned it to the local distributor where we got it from, they accused us of tampering with the internal stuff and putting "super glue" in the guts, which is just crazy. they said "This case is for sure due to user negligence." so they wont give us a new unit and said they will just repair it. I tried contacting baratza main site, they contacted the local distributor, and they replied "It sounds like you will have your grinder back in working order as per *local distributor's note." So they are of no help, and they wont own up to their defective unit. Now, i didnt get this unit from a US store, we got it from an official distributor. maybe it wont be as bad for you, but if you dont want to go through all that crap, and spend $200 (locally) just look somewhere else.

sounds like a distributor trying to pass off bad product to consumers.
@kuringmundo5 жыл бұрын
maria yeah, but the main company itself wasnt having any of it. They do state they have no control over international distributors.

$200? I don't know why you didn't even do a quick amazon search to know you got ripped off.
