John do you happen too have Barbara mandrell on the oprah show in 1990
@johnjones68274 жыл бұрын
Michael Hayes I do have it but I’m not sure I will upload it. I uploaded them a few years ago and they were removed by KZbin for copyright infringement. The problem is, if KZbin remove three videos they will remove your whole page. I’m trying to be selective of what I put up for that reason.

No mention of the huge back lash after the wreck. Even my parents turned on her for a while. The enquirer and other gossip rags ran a story that she was seeing the estate of the man that hit her head on while intoxicated basically bankrupting this poor innocent family. However not much of that is true. Mandrells Insurance did sue his insurance to cover the hundreds of thousands in medical bills. Nothing more. Mandrell had no control over that aspect of the lawsuit. That was kinda the beginning of the end as far as her charting career. She went from everyone loving her and cheering her on for surviving the wreck and the new baby to well.......she has been all but erased from music and cou try music history. She is never even mentioned. Look up reaction Channels. Literally in all of utube nobody has even reacted to her songs I the last twenty years. I can't think of anyone with the hits and record sold and awards won, entertai er of the year back to back, who has been erased from the history books. Anybody else can u thi k of anyone, especially that wasn't canceled for doing something awful as the kids say now adays.

This interview was done before the lawsuit. As far as not having anymore hits she had several after the lawsuit. Her last top 5 was in 1988. She had several hits in 1985, 1986, 1987 and 1988. Her last top 20 was in 1989. Her book his #1 in 1990. She had several tv specials in the 1990’s as well as a TV movie made about her which had better ratings than the CMA Awards. But there’s no doubt the lawsuit hurt her career. She was inducted in the country music hall of fame in 2009 as well as the steel guitar hall of fame and the musicians hall of fame. So she hasn’t been erased. But she could definitely be more appreciated that’s for sure.

No disrespect to BM but she was of the time, not timeless. She was great in the 80’s with the TV show and she is talented. I read or saw an interview that after she retired she got rid of all her instruments. I think with her it was all show business not really a love of music and creativity.

@@StilettoCutsQuick.No, she got rid of instruments because they made her sad, as she wasn't performing anymore 😢

@@norijean3279 fair enough. I watched an interview with her about the time she was retiring or right after her retirement and she said in a matter of fact way she got rid of all her instruments because she didn’t need them anymore. It sticks out to me because I was shocked by how dismissive she was about it. Generally musicians do not part with ALL their instruments. Maybe you saw a different interview. She is missed. I loved her tv show.

I can't think of another performer that said they were retiring and actually did it and stuck to it. The museum is actually so tacky and just gross. I love Mrs mandrell but this was just gross
@johnjones68273 жыл бұрын
Did you ever go to the museum? It was actually very nice and was one of Nashville’s top rated attractions for several years.
