To have a museum located within such a historic site, just brings it alive - you can almost hear the voices of the men in those tunnels! Thanks so much for sharing, Simon! 👍

Came over on the condor from Guernsey when I was around 6 and visited the tunnels. Would love to come and see them again.

No doubt it’s changed a lot since those days… I remember when I was a kid it was all very ‘hospital’ orientated & a display on the holocaust. But now it’s a bit more hi tech & set more around the story of the island during the occupation, as well as the tunnels themselves🙂👍

Jersey & the Channel Islands have always been on my ‘bucket list’ if ever I got the chance to visit Britain. The fact that they were occupied by the Germans so close to England for the majority of the war is fascinating. I will never get the chance now at my age, but I have seen some glimpses in documentaries and clips such as you provide. Apart from anything else, the islands appear to be a beautiful place to live and work. You are very lucky CWM to have these surroundings as inspiration for some of your models and dioramas. Cheers from Australia!

Actually fella mainland France is nearer than the Channel Islands but it was the only part of Britain to under occupation.

@@xjr13john - My Bad! I should have clarified my statement a little better I guess, but you have to admit that they are close to England. Closer than I am at least! Cheers.

I live in Jersey, dont bother coming as the government have destroyed it. Its just a finance centre now, lost it magic. Will be moving to England soon.

Ca Va Mon v. Dress the place as much as you like, still spooks the hell out of me. Just to mention to Grockles, the road to the right of the Victoria pub in St Peter's Valley 'L' Aleval' is known colloquilly as 'The German Road'. The cotils all the way up it have tunnels bored into them. If your going to add local history, and why not? What the about the bunkers around The Strawberry farm, or whatever its currently called. That would show how HO8 fitted into the complex around Les Gilliettes.

😁😆 Aahhh I told you to switch your September notifications off…👻! It’s been about 12 years since I last went there, some displays still the same, a lot has changed. Very nice way they’ve done an unfinished tunnel display especially - & it was FULL of tourists on a midweek morning which I’ve not seen in the past…😮👍 The Strawberry Farm is now just a bunch of houses - not so many tourists up there anymore…😩

@@Barbarossamodels I forgot. 🥴 The Rock does give a lot of examples of bunkers and camouflage for modellers, you could publish a pamphlet of pictures. There was at one time a Sherman and Flak 88 at the farm. I only managed to get into the bunker under the house there once. I've two Red Cross boxes from the Vega, they came with Katy the WC54.

me and a mate went in the big tunnels on the old german road, about 37 years ago, come out with a rucksack full of badly rusted german helmets..... cleaned up as best as and sold on.
