This little system is perfect for someone who is just getting into Airbrushing and not be overwhelmed, or intimidated by the price, size, and complexity of some systems. It's also a great add on for more experienced painters who are wanting an affordable and quality backup.

Recently I jumped up on a ladder to help my boy finish an exterior paint job. _Then the wind blew_ 🌬️🖌️ and the dam paint blew off my brush on to a basement window below 😂 the window had previously been sprayed with something to protect it I guess because it came right off but between the wind/sun/shade/rain/moisture/etc... *It's definitely a whole different animal to paint outside*

I bought this airbrush after this review. I was very pleased how it worked, but only when I upgraded to 'real' compressor, I noticed how big a difference it is. This is the perfect airbrush and compressor if you don't know if it's for you, but for me it quite fast showed some issues. Firstly, the compressor is not strong enough, and I had to dilute paints more, I had issues to paint with contrast paints, which were said to be perfect for airbrush. The airbrush was clogging all the time, white primer was unusable, even with heavy dilution. One of batteries 'get loose' and compressor stops working with it, unless I squize it when painting. All of it could be bad luck and faulty product I bought, but after changing to 'proper' compressor, using an airbrush became much better experience. Still, this is perfect to see if airbrushing is for you, and maybe I just had bad luck.

Just returned to the hobby after many years, and this review hit all the right buttons for me, so I immediately ordered one. I'm super pleased with it, especially for the price. If I ever need more pressure I can just hook up the hose to my "real" compressor, but the portable unit that comes with it works perfectly for the Tamiya and Vallejo acrylics I've sprayed so far. I'm wondering if other tips and needles are available that work with it?

I have 2 cordless compressors. One hasn't a name, no hose, airbrush screws onto compressor. Gun has a plunger fitting to operate compressor. OK with solvent paints, especially Alclad lacquers. Not very good with acrylic with the 0.3mm needle. I got a 0.5mm needle which improved the guns paint spraying. Acrylic paint finish was not smooth. The other is the "No Name" brand that came with a hose & gun kit. Works much better, seems to push more air & paint though the gun. I tried No Name compressor with a Greos P275, 0.3mm needle. This combo sprayed twice as much of paint at wide open. Left a smooth finish. I bought the 1st one because there is no electric in my garage. It was for touch up jobs on my bicycle. The one Rex is showing in the video is great because multiple batteries is great to have rather than a built in battery. Don't forget to include cleaner spray time in addition to paint time.

As with any lithium battery, you go past 25% most of the time shortens the battery life by almost half. 50% on a regular basises reduces battery life even more over time. Buy a few more batteries. Use it 25% or less and change out battery charge the first one and so on. They will last for many years if you do it this way. Batteries may out last compressor?

Great video as always. I have a couple of questions if you don't mind. 1 - This video is about a year old now, so how is the airbrush holding up at this point? 2 - I'm taking an extended break from painting miniatures and getting into plastic 1/24, 1/25 scale car kits. Would this airbrush serve that purpose well enough? 3 - Most of the paints I currently own are matte paints, acrylic, mostly Pro Acryl and Citadel. Can I use those to paint a car body and, when they're dry, spray it with a clear gloss coat? Thanks for your time.
@barbatosrex94739 ай бұрын
I gave it to a friend and it's still running well. It will work for car kits no problem. I personally use lacquers or enamels for car kits, Tamiya Acrylics. But you can use the craft store paints and you do have to put a clear gloss on top. Be sure to put down a primer before spraying the craft paints

Super cool, using the hose is good for a more steady air pressure flow, the hose adds a buffer. You mention cleaning your airbrush with Windex, I'd suggest you don't unless it's ammonia free. The ammonia in Windex will eventually eat the chrome on the internals and ruin the airbrush .

I have one more question, I am also looking to buy an airbursh hood, and all of the ones I see have a long tube for a vent. Does that exhaust tube need to go out a window? Or is it just to being the exhaust away from me? If it does need to go out a window, will it leave a residue on a metal screen?
@barbatosrex9473 Жыл бұрын
Yes they usually go out of a window for ventilation. My window doesn't have a screen where the exhaust goes out but I do imagine you might get some build up. You can also run the exhaust tube inside a large cardboard box and fill it with rags. My friend puts scented cat litter on the bottom of the box. Also check out my video for an inexpensive spray booth set up. That might help you too
