So i cant find a whole lot in terms of what happens in between the songs. All i could find is "Smile Away" is about Clara returning home after some kind of loss in the family, not a fight with Indigo to my knowledge, and her mother telling her to just keep smiling through the grief. I think Tim, in the reprise of In My Shoes, is just another student talking about his dreams. I think Clara's mom also disapproves of her major and doesn't often say, "i love you." Basically, In My Shoes is 3 people saying what their dreams are, feeling a bit hopless. I definitely could be wrong because there's just not enough information. Love your reaction, though!
