Being a beginner, this is very valuable. The movement from set to setup is not intuitive, so this was great.

This explaination is just top noch. It helped me smooth out many errors I had with my stance. I'm shooting for a year now, just recently making a transition from inuitive/gap shootong to string walking. Your videos helped me alot in my journey so far and I'm sure they will do it for a long time

This episode was most valuable to me! Arrow pointing to the left, elbow behind the arrow line, shoulder rotation and BAM! This has not changed my life, but it has changed my shooting quite a bit. Everything just falls into place now. Timing is much better. Thank you so much!

I wil have to watch this several times to get full benefit. The concept of short check at the set is helpful. The discussion on avoiding shoulder impingement is vital as is not getting elbow to shoulder at less thsn 90 degrees. Also this explains what I have observed in watching world archery competition in the draw. It looked like a draw then bring to anchor when it is move to set up then draw to anchor. Shoulder alignment is also helpful. Thank you now I have much to check in my cycle and improve. I am so grateful.

This video was a big one for me. I discovered tonight that I was bent over in my set position. I began to stand up straight and fix my posture before moving on to set up. I started to feel rock solid at full draw. And I focused more on reaching, which I think added to my stability. I am implementing these tweaks with hunting weight limbs and I can feel the burn! Thanks again JK.

Thank you so much for this series! Getting back to the range after a pandemic-induced hiatus and this series is extremely helpful for trouble shooting the errors I developed from disuse. I recommend your videos to all of my archer friends.

Awesome video! Thanks for explaining the Set -> Setup movement. Your explanation and demonstrations are super clear and I’m going to be incorporating this into my own shot process. Also, couldn’t agree more with the bit of tension needed to maintain a crawl. Got some new strings with Halo and they be slippery!

I believe this is the most demanding part of the cycle. It will ask for control and power from muscles you probably have not trained. Any words of ecouragment welcome. My issue is that i always catch my hips (quiver tells the tale) wobling a bit and it will hurt the knees and possible the back (draw hand) hips a bit if done in a "not trained to that level yet" effort...

Hi Jake great video, I think you should write your own barebow specific book.

Really good stuff... looking forward to every episode but this was the one I was waiting for... my inflexibility and range of motion issues in my shoulders require me to to REALLY nail this step. If I am just a little off I can feel my alignment is a bit off and it takes extra muscle engagement to salvage a usable hold at anchor. It adds a sense of urgency to my shot and it throws me off. You described a few additional things here that I think will make me even more consistent. And good on you for addressing the "candy cane motion" confusion and clarifying... very clear explanation.
@JakeKaminskiArchery3 жыл бұрын
What tips made the difference for you in this one?
@ryanbon3 жыл бұрын
@@JakeKaminskiArchery first, reminding of the quick pause to check-in... I have a single movement to anchor, a bit rushed which prevents me from getting all the way aligned sometimes. Also, I focus here mainly on rotating while keeping the hips, but sometimes don't rotate enough... Adding a conscious focus to reach to the target here will help me rotate the extra bit more consistently. I normally wait to consciously reach to the target until after setup in the form of pushing to the target while aiming. Starting this earlier in my shot while keeping my bow hand in line with my target during this step will give me a more consistent foundation for the later stages of the shot.

Jake, you should train / do seminars to NTS coaches. There are too many who don't know what you explain and they are teaching what they think they understood - the lolly pop movement comes from coaches, not beginner archers.

When I hold my hips over my feet and allow my torso to turn to align my barrel with the target, the string hits my chest, lips and nose. What can I do to prevent this.? Thanks for visiting Break the Barriers.

Hello Jake Thank you for these set - setup videos. I am sorry but I am left handed and I find it hard to translate from the videos where my position needs to be as a left hander in regard to what you are saying. Could you please consider a quick amendment video for a left handed archer using your methods. It is so hard to translate where I need to be. Some things apply to both left and right handed archers but other things need to be reversed.

Question: You said that your bow lift is higher in barebow than it would otherwise be with recurve because the anchor is higher than in barebow and so is aiming. But in previous lectures you instructed that we don't even think about aiming until the end of transfer. Could you explain the seeming contradiction because the bow settles down to the same point regardless of the height at setup Thank you.
@JakeKaminskiArchery3 жыл бұрын
Because you will want your aiming reference whether an arrow or a sight pin to be relatively close to the target when you start aiming. Is it’s 2-3 feet low, all your positioning is off and the time it takes to get to the center is inefficient. Hope that helps.

I've been told it's best to prioritize draw side alignment. Is that not correct?
@JakeKaminskiArchery Жыл бұрын
Alignment is a whole body endeavor. In order to get the draw side dialed, the rest must be there too.
@dmouse5223 жыл бұрын
Any suggestions for more torso strength? I find getting that much of the draw by rotation difficult.
@JakeKaminskiArchery3 жыл бұрын
Focus more on the push or reach. If that fails, close your stance some till you develop the strength/flexibility.
